I can still remember the buzz this movie made all over around my socials when it was released in the month of April. Over 15 years later, turns out the "King of Pop" have a nephew who looks a lot like him and also learned so well how to be like him and a movie was released on his account.

I grew up watching and listening to Michael Jackson, I still remember how sad people around me then were when the news of his death came. Till years later, I still listen to some of his songs and I had one in my Playlist just until late last year. So I can tell how excited it was for everyone when a movie is released on account of his life.

Michael is a period, history and biography musical movie released in April, 2026. It's a movie based on the early life of the "King of Pop", Michael Jackson and it's starred by Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson (the King of Pop), Nia Long as Katherine, Michael's mother and Colman Domingo as Joseph, Michael's father.

Michael opens with the scene of young Michael rehearsing for their next gig, with his four brothers as "the Jackson 5" and their father placing pressure on them to do well. The story portray in a good pace how the five grew but Michael grew in understanding who he wanted to be and that is being more than just one of five.

I saw this movie with my mum and cousin, one thing stood out for us at the same time and level, the father is abusive of the privilege his son has brought to the family. Michael grew up to be a great young man who is ambitious but calm and peaceful in his pursuit but his father still sees him as the little boy he pushes around for gains.

I may not have been a true fan of Michael but I know some of his songs so watching his life on a screen even though it's not in a good detail as reviews are saying, I realized just how much harder one needs to work towards achieving great things especially growing up in a house or family like the one Michael had to grow up in.

I enjoyed the movie really but some part of the story felt off, like the pacing was off and rushed at some point. But I love the cinematography work, the music featured, the dance and especially, watching Michael in his quiet space coming up with his idea on his next hit felt magical and I must say, he is always so calm.

Over all, it's a must-watch biopic and If you're yet to see it, which I doubt, I'll recommend you see it soon. I'm guessing there might be a sequel to the movie but if not, it's still gave me more than entertainment and that is, seeing the world from the lens of a great musician who once lived. 9/10
