Psycho (1960)

For the boring time, a thriller film suits me the best but it's often hard to search for something suitable for yourself. Like if someone asks me for movie suggestions I might name a lot of films that they would be enjoying one after another. We can suggest to others, not to us, we gotta dig to get hold onto something enjoyable, something worth of enjoying to change the mood.

So this time, I went for a psychological thriller film named as Psycho from 1960, a black and white film but interesting enough to keep someone before the screen till the end. Well, this one is directed by Alfred Hitchcock and is said to be one of his most famous films. Also, this one is based on a novel by Robert Bloch with the same name.

Jenet Leigh is playing the leading role as Marion Crane and she is the one that made me feel like, "Aw, she is beautiful, going to watch the whole movie at least for her." But trust me, if she was the only reason behind watching the movie then I might have to stop watching in the midway, why? Maybe that needs to be revealed later or while watching the movie.

Okay, the story begins with Marion Crane who works as a secretary in a real-estate company and she fled with forty thousand dollars cash which was given to her to deposit in the bank. She is on the run, so it's a movie about chasing her? Started with that and turned out to find missing persons, solving mysteries. Yes, missing persons! I am trying to avoid spoilers and give you a hint about the story but clueless how to avoid them. Okay, wait a moment.

On Marion's run she was in a motel and there is our another leading character from the motel, that's Norman Bates, he got interested in Marion, in a positive way. Well, this thing wasn't liked by his mother and she got angry at him and this argument was quite loud for her to hear from her room as the house was next to her.

So what are the main turnings? There is a murder, not one but two murders and that's the mystery who killed them, maybe we have seen or know the murderer but how will the others find out is a question. From the name of the movie, we can surely guess there is a psycho, how fearful is the killer? Will the killer getaway? The ending reveals a great twist for the audience and that was praiseworthy.

There were a few scenes that I want to highlight my expression separately as I couldn't above, so move on with a high spoiler alert, the murder of the Marion on the Shower was so unexpected even the murder of the privet investigator. On the first one I didn’t expect the lead character to take away and on the second murder didn’t anticipate this much courage but this is what it is, the murderer was a psycho. And Norman's character, how calm and polite he seemed! But yeah, he is also he isn't. And the way his mother's character was done is the key point behind the whole movie, the whole twist and our expectations were on it and later, it just blew.

If you sit with the mindset that it's a black and white film from 1960 you would be happier than the expectations. I have tried to avoid as many spoilers as I could. Thriller movies are ruined when there are spoilers, sometimes I avoid watching trailers too. But yeah, this one was worth watching, anyone who loves or prefer thriller films must watch this one. Personally, I would like to rate it 8 out of 10.

Definitely a masterpiece of all time without special effects of any kind, pure camerawork and direction, with a master @minhajulmredol.
