The Others is a horror-thriller genre film, released in 2001. This one is directed and written by Alejandro Amenabar. In short, I loved the movie, how it started from usual horror stories to something different, leading us to the ending twist to leave you perplexed in a sudden shock. You can say, that's what most thriller movies do, yes it is but the question is how satisfying that story moved on along with a twist.

The plot begins with a family of four, a single mother and two children living in a big house, her husband is in the war. It was during World War II. So yeah, it's like most of the common horror movies plot, family with kids in a giant house, and there are unusual activities. Same thing happened but there was something more, three servants in their house. She needed servants and advertised for them but that mail was never collected to be advertised and they reached at their doorstep coincidentally.

Oh yeah, another thing, those two kids were suffering from a disease like photosensitivity, so they were never exposed to sunlight, always curtains on the windows and different rules to avoid sunlight. On seeing those scenes you might wonder if something is wrong with them, maybe our agenda of enjoying horror/thriller scenes are related to this cause.

The little girl used to see others' presence that every other denied, she used to see people, maybe those who are dead as per the story progressed. After a while, you may feel suspicious about the servants too, yeah their activities were like that too. You might be wondering how they are gonna survive, another prime question to be solved is, can the living live with the dead? Hehe, they might be trying to escape from that dilemma in which way? Can they? Those were the questions and situations.

So from the usual horror movie prompts it turned into a little bit different, serving us with some beautiful performance and suspense. Maybe the ending would serve you a little more to enjoy. Overall it was a good one, from scripting to all production works, plot, and the overall performance from them, it all synced pretty well from my point of view and I did enjoy it a lot.

Maybe this one has become short but as you know, horror and thriller movies are better with less description. Overall I would love to rate it 8 out of 10. If you are looking for a horror or thriller genre film then go for it, you would surely like it. Happy Watching!

This is one of my favorite horror movies. Nicole Kidman is usually in some really fantastic stuff but this one was just such an excellent horror movie.

I really enjoyed "Haunting of Bly Manor" and "Haunting of Hill House" on Netflix. I also really liked "Mama" and "The Conjuring" series. Other good horror movies I can think of are original "Shutter," "Noroi," and "A Tale of Two Sisters."
