Whiplash (2014)

Just got my new earphones and luckily I got a perfect movie to taste them. A movie related to music and musical instruments, isn't it a good one to taste them? I guess so and I am pretty much successful at that. One thing I wanna say about this at the beginning of the post is about the ending of the movie, around the last ten to fifteen minutes I felt like I didn't blink at all, everyone of you would sink into the rhythm, that aggressive intense moment and the illusion breaks with that ending scene of the movie.

Whiplash is a psychological drama film which is written and directed by Damien Chazelle. It's about a teacher and student on how the teacher tries to push his student to go beyond his limit, to be the best with some intensive scenes.

So the movie starts with Miles Teller as Andrew Neiman who is an ambitious drummer, he is a first-year student who gets a chance to be in the Shaffer Conservatory Studio Band by J. K. Simmons as Terence Fletcher, who is a very strict and ruthless instructor, to some point we have seen how abusive he is to his students, also his search for perfection is what forms his character.

Fletcher is one of the best instructors and seemed to be impressed by Andrew, after Andrew's recruitment into Fletcher's band we had seen how hard things are there for Andrew, to some point I was indifferent to Fletcher's intention and maybe that's where the psychological game started. Few scenes are so intensive that Andrew is bleeding but he can't afford to sacrifice his practice, his rhythm, and his performance. He wants to be the best, like his idol Buddy Rich and what does Fletcher want? His band to be the best? To bring out the best performer? Or does he have some other motives?

Well to make things a little bit spicy lemme give you a healthy spoiler, one of Fletcher's former students about whom Fletcher praised a lot was a good one, he hanged himself out of depression and anxiety caused by Fletcher. But he did mention that Sean died in a car accident. You got a fishy vibe, didn't you? Well, it was needed, I got that vibe throughout the whole movie.

Well, there was an out-of-the-topic scene, where Andrew breaks up with the girl he was dating just because she might be the reason for his distraction, he might not give her enough time, and so on. You know, I felt that scene, yeah I felt it. Maybe that was one of the best scenes from that movie I would remember.

Okay, now about the ending fifteen to twenty minutes, I would give this 10 out of 10. What an ending it was! Trust me, it was one of the best ending intensive scenes I have ever watched, I was literally drowning in that scene and didn't even realize when the movie came to an end. It's like an unfinished one, really I had expected a few more scenes. Maybe the writer wanted to see this craving of the audience and that's why he had put the full stop there.

I won't rate it, I won't. Different parts of this gave me a different vibe, scenes got intense one after another, and my predictions got wrong and turned out well at the same time, what to judge in these? I will just say that I loved it. Go for it, trust me you won't regret watching this. Happy Watching!!
