NIFFF 2025

Here we go again for nine days of madness and wonderful movies at NIFFF.

I've been waiting until a year for this week upcomming, haha. Here is this year's NIFFF 2025 program.

This year, I started out like last year with the editing job at the set-up and tear-down and the accreditations.

Here are the films I have been lucky to attend and see since the beginning of the festival:

On the first day, the 4 July 2025

OBEX BY ALBERT BIRNEY

A Swiss première, the director of the movie play his own rôle. What I really liked was that he manipulated and programmed his game on the very first Mac with the earliest resolutions.

OPENING CEREMONY WITH MOVIE DALLOWAY BY YANN GOZLAN

With the international actress Cécile de France, whom we had the honor of meeting and presenting the film. We quite liked the film, which tells the story of an artist who has lost her son and joins an institute run mainly by AI. Moving and full of intrigue and plots on all sides.

Day 2 - the 5 July 2025

GHOST BUSTERS BY IVAN REITMAN AND CARRIE BY BRIAN DE PALMA

The two classic films were screened at the Open Air. Ghost Busters I already have seen that like 10 years ago and loved it. But for Carrie, surprisingly, I had never seen it before, but I am extremely happy to have discovered it. Moreover it is Brian De Palma's first adaptation of Stephen King's novel, starring John Travolta.

Day 3 - the 6 July 2025

SIRAT BY OLIVER LAXE AND PEDRO ALMODOVAR

This is the story of a father searching for his daughter who ran away from home, setting off on a journey through the Moroccan desert.
A completely surprising and moving film with twists and turns that will tug at your heartstrings. I saw it with a couple of volunteer friends, and at the end I asked them for a hug because it was so emotionally powerful.

Day 4 - the 7 July 2025

QUE MA VOLONTÉ SOIT FAITE BY JULIA KOVALSKY

An international premiere, the film tells the completely crazy story of a girl who is somewhat possessed. It explores the mystery and challenges of belonging to a remote village.

GIBIER BY ABEL FERRY

This film was presented to us in a world premiere with the director and one of the actresses, Anne Richard, present for the screening. It traces the history of activists fighting against animal exploitation. Emotionally powerful with charismatic performances, the director was able to show us in his film the abuse of certain authorities and the scale that this can engender. This movie will certainly put you off eating a certain type of meat...

BRING THEM DOWN BY CHRIS ANDREWS

It recounts the story of a dispute between neighboring shepherds, but with plenty of trash and emotion, and also featuring rising Irish actor Barry Keoghan. This film will surprise more than a few people. It's just killer!

That day, I have seen movies that was truly a special day dedicated to the animals sphere...

Not bad for the start of the festival. Let's see if I can beat my own record of 34 films in one edition...

Honestly, I don't think so, but you know what? A volunteer friend pointed out to me that I'm the volunteer who works the most hours during the festival. I didn't necessarily realize it when she showed me that I'm doing a total of 120 hours.

Since I'm available right now, I volunteered to work, and since I'm a movie fan, I'm enjoying it in every way.

Ahhh, I love the NIFFF. So when are you coming to Neuchâtel to attend the NIFFF?

Next year, I would love for some of you from my hive community and family to come to Switzerland to say hello and see a movie with me.

By the way, I will do everything I can to spread the word about our community and make about The NIFFF; the first official festival to join our wonderful Hive platform. 💪🏾😇
