(Long) Weekend Movie – Raiders in the Sky

It’s time for another of the occasional weekend movies that I put up. Today’s offering is ‘Raiders in the Sky’ made in 1953. I may or may not have put this up before but I’m putting it up again because even if I have put it up before sometimes links die and this is a great movie.

‘Raiders in the Sky’ is the story of a Lancaster bomber base in WWII and the stresses and losses that this unit has to deal with. Central to the story is an airman who has flown more than his share of missions and the strain is showing and he is due to be retired from operational flight work.

This film has a great deal to commend it. It’s a well written drama with some romantic side stories along with fabulous shots of Lancaster bombers (some of which were used in the Dambusters movie), battle scene and old vehicles.
