A great little wartime spy story for you all this week. ‘Foxhole In Cairo’ (1960) is about an attempt by the Germans to get a spy unit set up in Cairo in Egypt in order to get information about the British military to German General Irwin Rommel so that he can push the Allies out of Egypt and North Africa.

This is a fast placed little story which paints a vivid picture of wartime Cairo as a hotbed of spies, double agents and those who are both friend and foe. The background to the story features British officers trying to find a German spy radio station, Jewish underground operatives helping the British against Rommel whilst doing their utmost to protect their own interests in what would shortly be the State of Israel.

This film has some great big names in it such as James Robinson Justice as the senior British officer and spycatcher and Fenella Fielding as a glamorous Jewish underground operative.

This is a great little story and one that seems to have slipped many people’s attention and I hope that you enjoy it because I did.
