Weekend Movie – ‘Wrong Number’
‘Wrong Number’ is a short, tightly written British crime drama movie from 1959. I won’t give you any spoilers but the plot revolves around a group of criminals who have had a pretty successful run of robberies from Post Office vans. These vans as well as carrying mail did, at that time in history, also carry large amounts of cash gathered in connection to Post Office business.
However on one of the robberies, of a Post Office bag containing thousands of pounds, something goes wrong and an innocent person trying to call their vet for their sick dog ends up making a wrong number call that is picked up by one of the gang. This wrong number call ends up as a conduit for information and clues about the gang’s activities and identities that shouldn’t have been opened up.
This is a pretty competent ‘B’ movie from a British film studio that is now long gone but it’s reasonably well acted and there’s some really nice film noir style camerawork and lighting going on in it.
I hope you enjoy this movie as much as I did and you can access the movie via the link below.
