Preparing for a film festival/Preparandonos para un festival de cine[ENG/ESP]
Greetings friends of Hive, first of all I want to wish you a happy day, today I come to present a post that has to do part of my work as an audiovisual producer.
Saludos amigos, de Hive, ante todo quiero desearles un feliz día, hoy les vengo a presentar un post que tiene que ver parte de mi labor como realizador audiovisual.
A few days ago my friend @sgarciacine told me that he was interested in participating in a festival to be held by the Italian embassy in Venezuela, which seeks to show the contribution of the Italians in Venezuela upon their arrival in the immigration process of the Second World War through a short film or documentary.
Hace días mi amigo @sgarciacine me comentó que estaba interesado en participar en un festival que realizará la embajada de Italia en Venezuela, donde se busca mostrar el aporte de los Italianos en Venezuela a su llegada en los procesos Inmigratorio de la segunda guerra mundial a través de un cortometraje o documental.
Personally, I found this proposal very interesting, since the contribution of the Italians has been from many spaces, to deny the influence of that population is to deny the whole process of historical miscegenation through which my beloved Venezuela has gone through.
Personalmente, esta propuesta me pareció muy interesante, ya que el aporte de los italianos ha sido desde muchos espacios, negar la influencia de esa población es negar todo el proceso de mestizaje histórico por el que ha pasado mi querida Venezuela.
My friend had already proposed an idea; however, I asked him to review several questions taking into account that the science of getting involved in this contest is to win or make a very good product, which will attract the attention of the juries of the festival.
Mi amigo ya tenía propuesta una idea; sin embargo, le pedí que revisará varias preguntas tomando en cuenta que la ciencia de involucrarse en este concurso es ganar o hacer un producto muy bueno, el cual llame la atención a los jurados del festival.
The first question was: What do you think the Italians are looking for with this festival? What do you want to tell as a director? What strategy in terms of resources and creativity can be used to make good material? What Italian influence do you have as a proposal for the development of this project?
La primera pregunta fue ¿qué crees tú que los italianos buscan con este festival? ¿Qué quieres contar tú como director? ¿Qué estrategia a nivel de recursos y creatividad se puede utilizar para hacer un buen material? ¿Qué influencia italiana tienes como propuesta para el desarrollo de este proyecto?
After talking about his answers, he told me that he would work on the short film based on pasta, specifically a recipe that we Venezuelans love, after that we decided to schedule a meeting to see where the idea was in order to structure it according to the technical cinematographic format.
Después de hablar sobre sus respuestas, me comentó que trabajaría el corto en base a la pasta, específicamente una receta que nos encantan años Venezolanos, después de eso decidimos pautar una reunión para ver por donde estaba la idea para poder estructurarla según el formato técnico cinematográfico.
When I arrived at his house, we sat down and he showed me a storyboard he had made; a storyboard is the actions of the characters in a story, for example, Juan Camino to the door and so on, from beginning to end.
Cuando llegue a su casa, nos sentamos y me planteo una escaleta que había realizado; una escaleta son las acciones de los personajes de una historia, por ejemplo, Juan Camino hasta la puerta y así sucesivamente, de principio a fin.

Esta fue la escaleta que el me presentó.

4 - Completar los elementos para hacer una receta.
5 - Segundón recuerdo.
6 - Ambiente hostil.
7 - La presencia del niño.
8 - Preparación de la receta.
After seeing the structure that my friend showed me, we went on to adapt the idea to the structure of the hero's journey, which I present below.
Después de ver la estructura que me mostró mi amigo pasamos a adaptar la idea a la estructura del viaje del héroe, la cual les presento a continuación.
1 - Ordinary world: Year 2050, consequences of global warming.
2 - Call to adventure: Carlos sets out to get the objects that make him nostalgic.
3 - Rejection of the call: He debates his actions in the hostile environment.
4 - Meeting with the mentor: Grandfather's recipe.
5 - Crossing the threshold: He decides to go looking for things.
6 - Tests, Allies and Enemies: The ally is the child, the enemy is the system.
7 - Approach: On the way to the space where he is going to cook.
8 - The big test: Preparing the food.
9 - Reward: The ecstasy of nostalgia.
10 - Resurrection of the Hero: Recovery of confidence.
11 - Return of the Elixir: He follows his path with the clear objective of searching for his family.
1 - Mundo ordinario: Año 2050 consecuencias del calentamiento global.
2 - Llamada a la aventura: Carlos se propone a conseguir los objetos que le generan nostalgia.
3 - Rechazo al llamado: Debate su accionar ante el ambiente hostil.
4 - Encuentro con el mentor: La receta del abuelo.
5 - Cruzando el umbral: Decide ir a buscar las cosas.
6 - Pruebas, Aliados y Enemigos: El aliado es el niño, el enemigo es el sistema.
7 - Acercamiento: Camino al espacio donde va a cocinar.
8 - La gran prueba: Preparación de la comida.
9 - Recompensa: El extasis de la nostalgia.
10 - Resurrección del Héroe: Recuperación de la confianza.
11 - Regreso del Elixir: Sigue su camino con el objetivo claro de buscar su familia
After organizing it into the structure of the hero's journey, I felt that my friend's idea could take more shape, so we could move on to the Story Line, which would be the story of the short film told in 5 lines.
Después organizarlo en la estructura del viaje del héroe, sentí que la idea que tenía mi amigo pudo agarrar más forma, por lo cual pudimos pasar a realizar el Story Line, que sería la historia del cortometraje contada en 5 líneas.
Story Line
Carlos is a 32 year old man who walks in a desert environment, full of nostalgia for the recipe that his Italian grandfather used to prepare for him. He decides to look for the ingredients of the recipe in a sheltered space, for which he has to go through different obstacles to achieve his goal.

Carlos es un hombre de 32 años que camina en un ambiente desértico, lleno de nostalgia por la receta que le preparaba su abuelo Italiano, decide buscar los ingredientes de la receta en un espacio resguardado, por lo cual tiene que pasar por diferentes obstáculos para lograr su objetivo
After having the Story Line, we continue to debate in order to get the premise of the story, this has to do with the message that the film wants to leave, which has to be told in a single maximum line of the page.
Después de tener el Story Line continuamos a debatir para poder sacar la premisa de la historia, esta tiene que ver con el mensaje que quiere dejar la película, la cual tiene que ser contada en una sola línea máxima de la página.

La cultura familiar es lo que preserva tu identidad ante el mundo.
With the latter developed, the meeting between the two culminated, pending the development of the Literary Script on his part.
Ya con esto último desarrollado culmina la reunión de ambos, quedando pendiente el desarrollo del Guion Literario por la parte de él.
I said goodbye to my friend Sebastian and headed home, very happy to get a good development of the idea of the story in order to move faster but well organized.
Me despedí de mi amigo Sebastián y agarre camino a mi hogar, muy feliz de lograr un buen desarrollo de la idea de la historia para así avanzar más rápido pero bien organizado.
