La película nos muestra la vida de Margaret una niña que es estudiante de sexto grado en la ciudad de Nueva York, pero su vida tranquila se vuelve caótica cuando sus padres le dicen que se mudaran a Nueva Jersey. Ahora ella se pregunta que tal sera su vida de ahora en adelante, con los miedos propios de una niña y los conflictos para poder adaptarse a un nuevo ambiente, con nuevas personas a su alrededor, todo un mundo por explorar está a punto de ocurrir en la vida de Magaret.
"Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" is a novel written by Judy Blume in 1970. The film follows the life of Margaret, a young girl who is a sixth grader in New York City, but her quiet life turns chaotic when her parents tell her they are moving to New Jersey. Now she wonders what her life will be like from now on, with the fears of a child and the conflicts of adapting to a new environment, with new people around her, a whole world to explore is about to happen in Magaret's life.

Margaret Simon's story is about her quest to know what life is like as a teenager, so she joins a classmate who is quite extroverted and curious, which makes her do things that maybe for her are weird and she still feels too young to worry about what her adolescence will be like and all the changes that come with reaching that stage of life. Margaret has a constant struggle to be part of the group doing things she may not feel so comfortable with, like buying her first bra, getting her period which is a topic talked about a lot in the movie by her new friend from school, being in love and wanting to be a big girl before her time.
Una de las cosas que me parecieron buenas de esta película y de la historia es que muestran la realidad sobre el hecho de tener esa edad y querer saber cuál es tu identidad y además también el tema de la religión es algo con lo que Margaret se siente muy confundida ya que sus padres son de religiones diferentes y su madre al enamorarse de su padre que es judío, hizo que sus abuelos maternos dejarán de hablarle a su mamá e incluso nunca han conocido a Margaret y todo por el hecho de que no les gusta la religión del padre de Margaret. Por lo que Margaret está en una búsqueda constante sobre quién es ella misma y en quien o en que debería creer, a lo largo de la historia podemos verla cómo le pide a Dios que la escuche y que le conceda ciertos milagros cómo ser aceptada por el grupo nuevo de su escuela, también tiene prisa por crecer y la presión social hace que este muy pendiente de cuando será su primer periodo ya que según las niñas con las que está dicen que ese es el momento en el que te conviertes en mujer.
One of the things that I found good about this movie and the story is that they show the reality of being that age and wanting to know what your identity is and also the issue of religion is something that Margaret is very confused about since her parents are of different religions and her mother falling in love with her father who is Jewish, made her maternal grandparents stop talking to her mother and they have never even met Margaret and all because they do not like the religion of Margaret's father. So Margaret is in a constant search about who she is herself and who or what she should believe in, throughout the story we can see her asking God to listen to her and to grant her certain miracles such as being accepted by the new group at school, she is also in a hurry to grow up and the social pressure makes her very aware of when her first period will be because according to the girls she is with they say that is the moment when you become a woman.
También se abordan otros temas como el de la amistad, dónde Magaret trata de hacer todo lo que las chicas de su grupo hacen solo para pertecer y ser parte de algo ya que a esa edad es muy importante sentirse parte de un grupo y tener amigos. Se habla de los cambios físicos en la pubertad como los cambios en el cuerpo de las mujeres, además se habla también de la relación de Margaret con su familia ya que sus padres aunque tienen una relación muy bonita y estable tienen el problema de que los abuelos de Margaret no se llevan bien por ser de diferentes ideales religiosos cosa que crea conflictos y tensión en la familia pero sobre todo en Margaret y le hace pensar que tener una religión es algo malo que lo único que hace es separar a las personas y odiarse mutuamente.

It talks about the physical changes in puberty as the changes in the body of women, and also talks about Margaret's relationship with her family because her parents although they have a very nice and stable relationship have the problem that Margaret's grandparents do not get along because they have different religious ideals which creates conflicts and tension in the family but especially in Margaret and makes her think that having a religion is something bad that all it does is separate people and hate each other.
La película tiene una duración de casi dos horas y la pueden encontrar en Prime Video (Venezuela) y también subtitulada y en doblaje al español en plataformas de películas online. Está película es bastante buena, tiene actores increíbles como Rachel McAdams que hace de la madre de Margaret y que es una persona muy comprensiva que también tiene sus conflictos con sus padres los cuales rechazaron su relación con el padre de Margaret por diferencias de ideologías religiosas, aún así ella es una persona muy comprensible y juntos hacen una familia que podría ser la tuya o la mía, dónde no importan en quien crea cada uno lo importante es el respeto y por sobre todas las cosas el amor hacia los miembros de la familia, está película es una montaña rusa de emociones a través de la pequeña Margaret que pasa por bastantes momentos engorrosos debido al tema familiar-religioso y a los cambios que empiezan con el hecho de el crecimiento por la pubertad. Me hizo sentir identificada en algunas ocasiones por qué las personas suelen ser bastante "fastidiosas" con el tema de los cambios hormonales y también el querer que una niña u adolescente se comporte como una persona adulta, eso me parece fatal porque todos debemos vivir nuestras etapas y siempre habrá tiempo para las cosas de adultos.
The movie is almost two hours long and you can find it on Prime Video (Venezuela) and also subtitled and in Spanish dubbing on online movie platforms. This movie is quite good, it has incredible actors like Rachel McAdams who plays Margaret's mother and who is a very understanding person who also has her conflicts with her parents who rejected her relationship with Margaret's father because of differences in religious ideologies, even so she is a very understandable person and together they make a family that could be yours or mine, This movie is a roller coaster of emotions through the little Margaret who goes through many awkward moments due to the family-religious issue and the changes that begin with the fact of growing up due to puberty. It made me feel identified at times because people are often quite "annoying" with the issue of hormonal changes and also wanting a child or adolescent to behave like an adult, that seems to me fatal because we must all live our stages and there will always be time for adult things.
