Hace poco vi una serie de películas que mi hermana me recomendó y que vio conmigo; algunas fueron de Marvel y la que hoy vengo a reseñar es Entrevista con el vampiro, una película bastante vieja estrenada en el año 1994 y de la que hace poco salió también una serie inspirada en la historia con algunos detalles diferentes, pero que también captó la atención de los fanáticos de esta historia de drama llena de vampiros sedientos y con una relación un tanto diferente a lo habitual. I recently watched a series of movies that my sister recommended and watched with me; some were from Marvel and the one I come today to review is Interview with the Vampire, a pretty old movie released in the year 1994 and of which recently came out also a series inspired by the story with some different details, but that also caught the attention of fans of this drama story full of thirsty vampires and with a somewhat different relationship than usual. La película nos comienza contando la historia de Louis de Pointe du Lac, un hombre que fue víctima de un vampiro que lo convirtió también en uno. Louis quiere contar su historia desde su perspectiva e invita a un periodista que, a pesar de saber que él es un vampiro, le parece muy intrigante esta historia. La historia va en retroceso; podemos ver cómo comenzó toda la historia de Louis, quien fue víctima de un vampiro llamado Lestat, quien tiene una personalidad única, extravagante y muy fiestera. Cuando Louis fue convertido en vampiro, tuvo que aprender a vivir una nueva forma de vida en donde ya no envejecería y tendría la sed de sangre a flor de piel.

The film begins by telling the story of Louis de Pointe du Lac, a man who was the victim of a vampire who turned him into one himself. Louis wants to tell his story from his perspective and invites a journalist who, despite knowing that he is a vampire, finds this story very intriguing. The story goes backwards; we get to see how the whole story began for Louis, who was the victim of a vampire named Lestat, who has a unique, flamboyant and very party-like personality. When Louis was turned into a vampire, he had to learn to live a new way of life where he would no longer age and would have bloodlust at its peak.

En la época de los 1800s es cuando más se siente el despertar de los vampiros dentro de la comunidad de Nueva Orleans, todas las escenas tienen un toque sombrío y lleno de referencias de la época cómo la vestimenta, la cultura, los trabajos a los que se dedica la población, la forma en la que viven las personas de ese lugar, los trabajos y las fiestas que no pueden faltar dónde Lestat es uno de los primeros en aprovechar estos festejos para cazar a sus próximas víctimas teniendo en cuenta que ahora debe integrar a Louis quien a pesar de ser un vampiro nuevo dentro de la comunidad, aún posee algo de cordura y tiene pensamientos coherentes acerca de no querer asesinar a ningún humano, pero tiene el deseo de hacerlo y lo hace porque debe sobrevivir a esta nueva versión de él en la que se siente desgraciado por acabar con la vida de personas inocentes.

In the time of the 1800s is when the awakening of the vampires within the community of New Orleans is most felt, all the scenes have a somber touch and full of references of the time how the clothes, the culture, the jobs to which the population is dedicated, the way in which the people of that place live, the jobs and the parties that can not miss where Lestat is one of the first to take advantage of these festivities to hunt his next victims taking into account that now he must integrate Louis who despite being a new vampire in the community, still has some sanity and has coherent thoughts about not wanting to kill any human, but has the desire to do so and does it because he must survive this new version of him in which he feels unhappy to end the lives of innocent people.

Entre las actuaciones destaca la de Tom Cruise como Lestat, siendo el vampiro que convirtió a Louis, quien fue interpretado por Brad Pitt. Tom tiene el aura perfecta de un vampiro cínico y que encuentra en Louis una conexión más allá de su propia forma de vida; además, es más arrebatado, siente que puede hacer lo que quiere en el momento que sea, tiene una apariencia impactante y muy atractiva, lo que hace que las mujeres se sientan atraídas hacia él, aunque este no sienta más que el deseo de matarlas. En cuanto a Brad Pitt, quien interpreta a Louis, también tiene una apariencia intrigante, pero conserva un poco de cordura humana y esto lo lleva a tener conflictos entre lo que está bien y lo que no. Ambos hicieron un trabajo increíble como actores y, aunque no soy tan fan de las historias de vampiros, esta me encantó por lo buenos que fueron al darle vida a esta famosa historia. Cabe destacar también la participación de Kirsten Dunst, quien interpreta a la pequeña Claudia, una niña que fue convertida en vampiro a manos de Lestat y quien vive en conflicto porque no acepta su nueva forma de vida y la apariencia que tiene, donde, aunque pasen los años, ella sigue en el cuerpo de una niña siendo ya una adulta. Ella es un personaje controversial e interesante que agrega una sensación de tensión dentro de la historia.

Among the performances is Tom Cruise as Lestat, being the vampire who turned Louis, who was played by Brad Pitt. Tom has the perfect aura of a cynical vampire who finds in Louis a connection beyond his own way of life; moreover, he is more rapturous, he feels he can do whatever he wants at any time, he has a striking and very attractive appearance, which makes women feel attracted to him, although he feels nothing more than the desire to kill them. As for Brad Pitt, who plays Louis, he also has a scheming appearance, but he retains a bit of human sanity and this leads him to have conflicts between what is right and what is wrong. They both did an amazing job as actors and, although I'm not that big a fan of vampire stories, I loved this one because of how good they were at bringing this famous story to life. It is also worth mentioning the participation of Kirsten Dunst, who plays little Claudia, a girl who was turned into a vampire by Lestat and who lives in conflict because she does not accept her new way of life and the appearance she has, where, although the years go by, she is still in the body of a girl being already an adult. She is a controversial and interesting character that adds a sense of tension to the story.

La dirección por parte de Neil Jordan es sublime; podemos ver el empeño en que la historia se viera tan única y lúgubre dentro de este mundo de vampiros y de personas víctimas de ellos mismos. Además, las escenas son en parte lo que le da el toque de misterio a la historia y hace que sea una película que impacta y que te deja con la sensación de haber visto uno de los mejores films sobre vampiros. Para ser de los 90, esta película muestra una historia llena de sangre y deseo, al punto de que se puede disfrutar de una forma en la que deseas saber qué va a pasar al final y luego llega y quedas con la idea de que era todo lo que no esperabas que sucediera, o al menos ese fue mi caso viendo la película sin ningún tipo de spoiler o expectativas.

The direction by Neil Jordan is sublime; we can see the effort to make the story look so unique and gloomy in this world of vampires and people who are victims of them. Also, the scenes are partly what gives the story a touch of mystery and makes it an impactful film that leaves you feeling like you've seen one of the best vampire films ever made. For being from the 90's, this movie shows a story full of blood and desire, to the point that you can enjoy it in a way that you want to know what is going to happen at the end and then it arrives and you are left with the idea that it was everything you didn't expect to happen, or at least that was my case watching the movie without any spoilers or expectations.

Hay que destacar también la banda sonora a cargo de Elliot Goldenthal, donde en cada escena podemos sentir el toque de misterio en conjunto con el miedo y el deseo de sangre. Fue muy importante cada melodía donde nos daba la sensación de lo que ocurría en el momento; en su mayoría son melodías muy oscuras y llenas de suspenso en algunos momentos. El tener un buen soundtrack hace que sea aún más disfrutable esta historia; además, le agrega ese toque de tensión entre los personajes y las escenas donde el deseo es más fuerte que la convicción de que está mal acabar con la vida de personas inocentes. Le da un toque de emoción a cada escena y fue una de las cosas que más disfruté mientras miraba la película.

We must also highlight the soundtrack by Elliot Goldenthal, where in each scene we can feel the touch of mystery along with the fear and the desire for blood. It was very important each melody that gave us the feeling of what was happening at the time; most of them are very dark and suspenseful melodies at times. Having a good soundtrack makes this story even more enjoyable; it also adds that touch of tension between the characters and the scenes where the desire is stronger than the conviction that it is wrong to end the lives of innocent people. It adds a touch of emotion to every scene and was one of the things I enjoyed the most while watching the movie.

En cuanto a la historia, puedo decir que es sumamente entretenida; a pesar de ser algo extensa, pude disfrutar de cada uno de los personajes y sus propias personalidades y conflictos. Me gustó poder ver a grandes actores interpretar a semejantes personas y tener tanta química juntos, que es en parte lo que hace más emocionante verla hasta el final. Concuerdo en que es una de las mejores películas de vampiros que existe o al menos que haya visto, tiene todo lo necesario para engancharte, personajes que se muestran en su forma más temible y a la vez con un poco de humanidad donde existe algo de coherencia entre el deseo de matar y el amor por la vida, aunque suene algo que no concuerda supieron hacer de este film una historia que sabe cómo contar la historia de Louis y Lestat quienes más allá de su apariencia tienen una vida cómo vampiros que viven juntos y que en medio de sus propios conflictos consiguen poder hacer de la historia algo que deja ver qué los vampiros son seres que además de saciar su sed también desean poder vivir de una forma más normal aunque esto sea imposible.

As for the story, I can say that it is highly entertaining; despite being somewhat extensive, I was able to enjoy each of the characters and their own personalities and conflicts. I liked being able to see great actors playing such great people and having so much chemistry together, which is partly what makes it more exciting to watch until the end. I agree that it is one of the best vampire movies out there or at least that I have seen, it has everything you need to get hooked, characters that are shown at their scariest and at the same time with a bit of humanity where there is some coherence between the desire to kill and the love for life, although it sounds something that does not match they knew how to make this film a story that knows how to tell the story of Louis and Lestat who beyond their appearance have a life as vampires who live together and in the midst of their own conflicts manage to make the story something that lets you see that vampires are beings that besides quenching their thirst also want to live in a more normal way even if this is impossible.

Realmente disfruté de la película; me encantaron las escenas muy gráficas con el soundtrack de por medio que le dio el toque de misterio y de angustia necesario para contar una historia de este estilo. Los personajes estuvieron increíbles y cada uno muestra su propio desarrollo, su propia personalidad y el reflejo de lo que significa ser un vampiro en una época en la que no eran casi vistos o descubiertos en su nueva piel mientras cazan para sobrevivir. La música estuvo excelente y le dio el toque de misterio en conjunto con el drama que se vive en cada escena. Es una de las mejores películas que he visto de los 90 y, aunque no me gusta ver películas muy antiguas, está llena de todas mis expectativas; me encantó de principio a fin. ¿Han visto esta película? I really enjoyed the movie; I loved the very graphic scenes with the soundtrack in between that gave it the touch of mystery and angst needed to tell a story of this style. The characters were amazing and each one shows their own development, their own personality and the reflection of what it means to be a vampire in a time when they were hardly seen or discovered in their new skin as they hunt to survive. The music was excellent and gave it the touch of mystery in conjunction with the drama that is experienced in every scene. It is one of the best movies I have seen from the 90's and although I don't like to watch very old movies, it is full of all my expectations; I loved it from beginning to end.
