Hola amigos de Movies & TV, espero que se encuentren muy bien. Quiero compartir una nueva reseña sobre una película que vi por simple casualidad y que me dejó impresionada. Los seres humanos podemos olvidar palabras, momentos e incluso personas pero lo que no se puede olvidar son las emociones que sentimos por determinada situación que pudo haber marcado nuestra vida. A la protagonista le sucede esto, su pasado se hace presente y no sabe de qué manera reaccionar. Son de esas historias que muy probablemente puedan suceder en la vida real y que llegan a ser tan realistas y fuertes que nos dejan pensando en que haríamos en una situación similar.

Hello, friends of Movies & TV, I hope you are all doing well. I want to share a new review of a film I saw by chance and that left me impressed. Human beings can forget words, moments, and even people, but what we cannot forget are the emotions we feel in certain situations that may have marked our lives. This happens to the protagonist; her past comes back to her, and she does not know how to react. These are the kinds of stories that could very likely happen in real life and that are so realistic and powerful that they leave us wondering what we would do in a similar situation.

La trama de la película se enfoca en una agente policial llamada Eva Hansen (Sidse Babett Knudsen) quién pasa la mayor parte de la historia dentro de un reclusorio y se va mostrando su trabajo y lo que tiene que observar dentro de la cárcel, tanto hombres cumpliendo condena por delitos menores como también otros, quienes tienen cadena perpetua y que están resguardados en un lugar alejado de los demás reclusos por ser altamente peligrosos. Eva hace bastante bien su trabajo, tiene la suficiente madurez y compromiso con lo que hace que nunca comete errores o al menos intenta siempre acatar las responsabilidades que conlleva su trabajo hasta que llega un recluso bastante peligroso que hace su mundo tambalear y desde ese momento empieza una guerra entre lo que está bien y lo que está mal para ella.

The plot of the film focuses on a police officer named Eva Hansen (Sidse Babett Knudsen) who spends most of the story inside a prison, showing her work and what she has to observe inside the prison, both men serving sentences for minor offences and others who are serving life sentences and are kept away from the other inmates because they are highly dangerous. Eva does her job quite well. She is mature and committed to her work, never making mistakes or at least always trying to fulfil the responsibilities that come with her job, until a very dangerous inmate arrives and turns her world upside down. From that moment on, a war begins between what is right and what is wrong for her.

La película Hijos (Vogter en su título original), estrenada en 2024 y dirigida por el cineasta sueco-danés Gustav Möller, muestra la realidad de una mujer que tiene un pasado sumamente doloroso por la perdida de su hijo a manos de un criminal, esté hecho marco negativamente su vida y no es hasta que conoce al nuevo recluso quien tiene mucho que ver con su pasado, lo que la lleva a empezar a tener una actitud diferente incluso pide cambio de trabajo para las celdas de alta seguridad donde se encuentra este hombre que ella conoce muy bien, pero él no sabe quién es ella.

The film Hijos (Vogter in its original title), released in 2024 and directed by Swedish-Danish filmmaker Gustav Möller, shows the reality of a woman who has an extremely painful past due to the loss of her son at the hands of a criminal. This event has negatively affected her life, and it is not until she meets a new inmate who has a lot to do with her past This leads her to start having a different attitude and she even asks to be transferred to the high-security cells where this man she knows very well is being held, but he does not know who she is.

Se puede ver la tensión durante toda la película porque vemos que Eva intenta hacer su trabajo y respetar los derechos que tienen los reclusos como personas, pero en su interior sabe que ese recluso en particular no merece misericordia ni un trato fácil. Es increíble que la actriz muestre de una manera tan magistral la batalla interna que lleva con sus propias emociones, en el lenguaje corporal y en su forma de reaccionar en determinados momentos demuestra que le duele ver a este recluso y que es difícil para ella el no poder separar el trabajo de lo personal, pero pienso que cualquier persona en su posición haría lo mismo o hasta más, con tal de sentir un poco de alivio y paz.

The tension is palpable throughout the film as we see Eva trying to do her job and respect the rights of prisoners as individuals, but deep down she knows that this particular prisoner does not deserve mercy or lenient treatment. It is incredible how masterfully the actress portrays the internal battle she is fighting with her own emotions. Her body language and the way she reacts at certain moments show that it pains her to see this prisoner and that it is difficult for her to separate her work from her personal feelings, but I think that anyone in her position would do the same or even more in order to feel a little relief and peace.

La historia me llamó la atención y la vi más que todo porque la portada tiene por título hijos por lo que deduje que pudiera ser que un hijo de la protagonista tuviera problemas con la ley. Pero no fue así, las escenas donde ella tiene que lidiar con el recluso que luego también la intenta sobornar hacen que la tensión se sienta durante toda la película, además las actuaciones son bastante creíbles y se siente el miedo, dolor y culpabilidad dentro de la historia. Hay mucho de culpabilidad, sobre todo por que Eva no fue la mejor persona ni la mejor madre para su hijo o al menos eso es lo que ella está constantemente pensando y es difícil lidiar con la culpa, es uno de los sentimientos más difíciles de dejar ir.

The story caught my attention, and I watched it mainly because the cover is titled "Children," so I assumed that the protagonist's child might be in trouble with the law. But that wasn't the case. The scenes where she has to deal with the prisoner, who later tries to bribe her, create tension throughout the film. In addition, the performances are quite believable, and you can feel the fear, pain, and guilt within the story. There is a lot of guilt, especially because Eva was not the best person or the best mother for her son, or at least that is what she is constantly thinking, and it is difficult to deal with guilt; it is one of the most difficult feelings to let go of.

Las escenas estuvieron grabadas casi de forma continua por lo que se veía más realista cada momento que se iba viviendo, desde ver cómo es tener un empleo como policía siendo mujer, ver las cosas desastrosas que suceden en la cárcel, lidiar con reclusos altamente peligrosos y con situaciones donde la paciencia puede ser muy poca para las cosas que se viven. Es una historia fuerte y aunque tiene un final un poco abierto, pienso que fue mejor que terminara de esa manera, al final de da a entender el propósito de la historia y de la forma en la que fue contada, sin ver más allá hacia el pasado ni tampoco hacia el futuro.

The scenes were filmed almost continuously, which made each moment feel more realistic, from seeing what it's like to be a female police officer, to witnessing the disastrous things that happen in prison, to dealing with highly dangerous inmates and situations where patience can be in short supply. It is a powerful story and although it has a slightly open ending, I think it was better that it ended that way, as it ultimately conveys the purpose of the story and the way it was told, without looking further into the past or the future.

Cerrar una herida de perdida de un hijo puede ser lo más difícil que puede vivir una madre por lo que esta historia puede ser muy sensible a personas que hayan pasado por algo similar. En general fue una película buena aunque hubieron detalles en los que se sentía un poco aburrida pero tiene su plot twist que aunque para algunos puede ser obvio desde el comienzo, la película juega muy bien con las escenas para que puedas pensar en cualquier posibilidad sobre porque Eva se comporta de esa manera tan frágil, llena de ira y a la vez sumamente herida. Espero puedan ver esta película, vale la pena mirarla aunque sea una vez. 👀

Healing the wound of losing a child can be the most difficult thing a mother can experience, so this story may be very sensitive for people who have gone through something similar. Overall, it was a good film, although there were some parts that felt a little boring. However, it has a plot twist that, although obvious to some from the beginning, the film plays with the scenes very well so that you can think of any possibility as to why Eva behaves in such a fragile way, full of anger and at the same time extremely hurt. I hope you can see this film, it is worth watching at least once. 👀
