Film Review: Home Alone 1 and 2 🎬 — A Christmas classic. [ESP/ENG]

Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv, espero que se encuentren muy bien. Hace poco vi dos películas icónicas de los años 90 de la temporada de navidad, han pasado más de treinta años y hasta ahora es que tuve el interés de ver las películas, la primera me encanto y la segunda también así que les quiero compartir mi reseña de Home Alone y Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York. En mi infancia las pasaban todo el tiempo en la televisión y era como de esas historias que no me llamaban la atención, pensando que era una película de comedia tonta o que no tendría ninguna forma de engancharme porque ya de por si, no me gustan las películas de navidad en general, me parecen muy repetitivas. Los invito a leer mi reseña de este clásico.

Hello, friends of the Movies & TV community. I hope you are all doing well. I recently watched two iconic Christmas films from the 1990s. More than thirty years have passed, and it was only now that I became interested in seeing them. I loved the first one, and the second one too, so I want to share my review of Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. When I was a child, they were on television all the time, and it was one of those stories that didn't catch my attention. I thought it was a silly comedy film or that it wouldn't hook me because I don't like Christmas films in general; I find them very repetitive. I invite you to read my review of this classic.

Home Alone es una película ambientada en los años noventas donde Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) es el personaje principal, siendo uno de los hijos de una gran familia pero sintiéndose siempre burlado, presionado el incluso excluido por su propia familia, una navidad antes de hacer un viaje familiar que ya estaba decidido, Kevin recibe un castigo por parte de su madre y termina siendo enviado al último piso de la casa, el ático que está muy bien acomodado y en donde Kevin prefiere pasar el rato que tener que pasar el tiempo con su ruidosa familia. Lo que no estaría planeado es que su familia partiera al siguiente día de vacaciones y lo olvidaran en la casa, ahora solo tendría todas las posibilidades de hacer cualquier cosa que un niño de su edad pensaría con su imaginación. Pero los peligros estarán presentes incluso en navidad, cuando unos delincuentes intenten entrar a la casa de Kevin a robar.

Home Alone is a film set in the 1990s where Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) is the main character. He is one of the children in a large family but always feels mocked, pressured and even excluded by his own family. One Christmas, before going on a family trip that had already been decided, Kevin is punished by his mother and ends up being sent to the top floor of the house, the attic, which is very well appointed and where Kevin prefers to spend his time rather than having to spend time with his noisy family. What was not planned was that his family would leave the next day on holiday and forget him at home. Now he would have every opportunity to do anything a child his age would think of with his imagination. But danger lurks even at Christmas, when criminals try to break into Kevin's house to steal.

Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York es la secuela de la historia de Kevin y cómo nuevamente en navidad su familia está planeando un viaje de vacaciones está vez a California, cuidad que Kevin detesta pero que no tendrá más opción que seguir a su familia. Pero como siempre algo tiene que suceder y Kevin aunque está vez si se va con su familia al aeropuerto, termina en el avión equivocado que lo envía a New York, con la suerte de que tiene algo de dinero porque se quedó con la cartera de su padre y la oportunidad de disfrutar de unos días solo hasta que pueda encontrar la manera de viajar a California o regresar a casa. Sin embargo, hay un encuentro inesperado y termina siendo perseguido de nuevo solo que está vez en una ciudad que no conoce.

Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York is the sequel to Kevin's story and how, once again at Christmas, his family is planning a holiday trip, this time to California, a city Kevin hates but has no choice but to follow his family to. But as always, something has to happen, and although Kevin does go with his family to the airport this time, he ends up on the wrong plane, which sends him to New York. Luckily, he has some money because he kept his father's wallet, and the opportunity to enjoy a few days alone until he can find a way to travel to California or return home. However, there is an unexpected encounter and he ends up being chased again, only this time in a city he does not know.

La primera película de Home Alone me pareció divertidísima, me encanto la actuación de Macaulay Culkin quien hace un papel tan inteligente de un niño con mucha audacia y curiosidad. Hay demasiados momentos en los que te ríes y te sorprendes de la forma en que Kevin reacciona ante los posibles peligros que están latentes, me gusta que se le ocurren miles de ideas para estar seguro en su casa y que de paso no le roben a su familia. Los ladrones se llevan la peor parte, subestimaron demasiado a Kevin jaja, les suceden tantas desgracias que creo que prefieren ir a la cárcel que volver a encontrarse con ese niño que les arruinó los planes completamente.

I found the first Home Alone film hilarious. I loved Macaulay Culkin's performance, who plays such a clever role as a boy with a lot of audacity and curiosity. There are so many moments that make you laugh and surprise you with the way Kevin reacts to the potential dangers that lie ahead. I like that he comes up with thousands of ideas to keep himself safe at home and, at the same time, prevent his family from being robbed. The burglars get the worst of it. They seriously underestimated Kevin, haha. So many misfortunes happen to them that I think they'd rather go to prison than face that kid who completely ruined their plans again.

La película es tan buena que se pasa rapidísimo todo, hay hermosos lugares con adornos de navidad y también uno que otro mensaje importante de personajes que salen dentro de la historia pero que no son los principales. Me gusto que en la primera película el le tenía miedo a un señor que se veía aterrador y que siempre estaba cerca de él de alguna manera u otra, pero termino siendo solo un señor mayor con una historia profunda y con la necesidad de ser escuchado por quién fuera, aunque sea un niño como Kevin que a penas conoce el mundo pero que tiene una buena forma de prestar atención y de poder hacer que los demás se sientan más alegres cerca de él.

The film is so good that it flies by. There are beautiful places decorated for Christmas and also a few important messages from characters who appear in the story but are not the main characters. I liked that in the first film he was afraid of a man who looked terrifying and was always close to him in one way or another, but he ended up being just an old man with a deep story and a need to be heard by anyone, even a child like Kevin who barely knows the world but has a good way of paying attention and making others feel happier around him.

Luego de ver la primera quedé con la curiosidad de ver la segunda parte, obviamente todo ocurre como la vez anterior solo que está vez Kevin estuvo muy cerca de poder pasar una navidad normal con su familia, pero como todo puede suceder se vuelve a extraviar y tiene que aprender a confiar en su instinto y su modo de supervivencia, me da mucha gracia como logra rentar una habitación de hotel a nombre de su padre con la tarjeta de este y que nadie pensara en que estaba perdido, que pudiera disfrutar de todas las comodidades y comer todo el helado y los dulces que un niño quisiera si estuviera solo.

After watching the first one, I was curious to see the second part. Obviously, everything happens as it did the first time, except that this time Kevin was very close to being able to spend a normal Christmas with his family. But, as anything can happen, he gets lost again and has to learn to trust his instincts and survival skills. I find it very funny how he manages to rent a hotel room in his father's name using his father's credit card, and that no one thought he was lost, that he could enjoy all the comforts and eat all the ice cream and sweets a child could want if he were alone.

Esta secuela la sentí más lenta que la anterior porque tal vez tenían que explicar más cosas ya que el contexto en el que sucede toda la historia es en otro lugar y no la casa y el vecindario de Kevin. Sin embargo, me gusto aunque prefiero la primera, de esta segunda me quedo la idea de cómo es posible que tuviera tanta suerte Kevin de volver a encontrarse con buenas personas, con una casa de un pariente, con los mismos ladrones de antes y que estos buscaran vengarse aunque de una manera más maquiavélica y que Kevin pudiera superar el ataque y maltrato contra los ladrones es increíble jajaja, me divertí mucho viendo ambas películas y me gusto poder disfrutar de una película diferente de navidad aunque me había tardado en verla, pero valió la pena. 🌲♥️

I felt this sequel was slower than the previous one because perhaps they had to explain more things, given that the context in which the whole story takes place is in a different location and not Kevin's house and neighbourhood. However, I liked it, although I prefer the first one. What I took away from this second one is how Kevin could be so lucky to meet good people again, find a relative's house, encounter the same thieves as before, and have them seek revenge, albeit in a more Machiavellian way. It's incredible that Kevin was able to overcome the attack and abuse against the thieves, ha ha ha. I had a lot of fun watching both films and I enjoyed being able to enjoy a different kind of Christmas film, even though it took me a while to see it, but it was worth it. 🌲♥️
