Film Review - My Opinion about "OMG! Oh My Girl"🥲

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi opinión sobre la película "OMG! Oh My Girl" que se estrenó en Netflix recientemente. Había estado esperando ansiosamente este estreno y, para ser honesto, me siento totalmente decepcionada. Permítanme contarles más sobre mi experiencia.

Today I want to share with you my opinion about the movie "OMG! Oh My Girl" which was released on Netflix recently. I had been eagerly waiting for this release and to be honest, I feel totally disappointed. Let me tell you more about my experience.
La película nos cuenta la historia de Guy y June dos jóvenes que se conocen por qué estudian en el mismo colegio. Guy es un chico bastante tímido y siempre ha estado enamorado de June pero nunca se a atrevido a decirle lo que siente por ella. Es así como vamos viendo cómo June se enamora de otro chico y mira de cerca cómo June va haciendo su vida amorosa y el siempre se mantiene al margen. Durante las escenas hay una tercera voz que habla cómo si fuera Dios, es gracioso porque Guy es bastante torpe entonces lo que hace es sobrepensar todas las situaciones posibles en las que puede declararse a June y no terminar pareciendo un tipo de enamorado obsesivo con ella.
The film tells the story of Guy and June, two young people who know each other because they study at the same school. Guy is a shy boy and has always been in love with June but has never dared to tell her how he feels about her. This is how we see how June falls in love with another boy and watches closely how June is making her love life and he always stays out of the way. During the scenes there is a third voice that speaks as if it were God, it's funny because Guy is quite clumsy so what he does is to overthink all possible situations in which he can propose to June and not end up looking like some kind of obsessive lover with her.
El tiempo va pasando y las cosas van cambiando, June tiene otra pareja ya más formal y parece ser un hombre que realmente la quiere y está dispuesto a formalizar la relación con ella por lo que Guy se siente presionado y en un momento de embriagues le envía un vídeo a las 4 de la mañana a June cantándole cumpleaños y diciéndole al final que está enamorado de ella. Durante la película vamos viendo cómo los personajes van creciendo, cambiando de gustos, de aspectos y van madurando pero realmente no es una película que te engancha, es bastante lenta y tiene una duración de dos horas lo cual me pareció demasiado para una historia que se sintió muy forzada.
Time goes by and things are changing, June has another more formal partner and seems to be a man who really loves her and is willing to formalize the relationship with her so Guy feels pressured and in a moment of drunkenness sends a video at 4 am to June singing birthday to her and telling her at the end that he is in love with her. During the movie we see how the characters are growing, changing tastes, aspects and maturing but it is not really a movie that hooks you, it is quite slow and has a duration of two hours which seemed to me too much for a story that felt very forced.
La película en sí es una comedia romántica que prometía ser divertida y fresca, conociendo las historias de romances asiáticos he visto varios que realmente me han gustado por la trama y la química entre los actores, sin embargo desde el principio me encontré con una trama predecible y llena de clichés en esta película además de que los protagonistas no tienen nada de química entre ellos y las escenas se ven muy forzadas. Los actores hicieron lo mejor que pudieron con el guion que les fue dado, pero no lograron darle la chispa y la emoción que la historia requería. Faltó química y conexión entre ellos, lo que hizo que las escenas románticas fueran forzadas y poco creíbles. No había nada nuevo o emocionante en la historia, lo cual fue una verdadera lástima. Esperaba algo más innovador y, lamentablemente, no lo encontré.
The movie itself is a romantic comedy that promised to be fun and fresh, knowing the stories of Asian romances I have seen several that I really liked because of the plot and the chemistry between the actors, however from the beginning I found a predictable plot and full of clichés in this movie plus the main characters have no chemistry between them and the scenes look very forced. The actors did the best they could with the script they were given, but they failed to give it the spark and emotion that the story required. There was a lack of chemistry and connection between them, which made the romantic scenes forced and not very believable. There was nothing new or exciting in the story, which was a real shame. I was hoping for something more innovative and, unfortunately, I didn't find it.
Ahora, hablemos un poco sobre Netflix. Como sabemos, esta plataforma de streaming ha dado grandes producciones en los últimos años, pero en esta ocasión no puedo decir lo mismo. La calidad visual de la película era buena, eso sí, pero la historia y la forma en que estaba narrada dejaron mucho que desear. Me da la impresión de que fue una producción más enfocada en aprovechar el auge de las comedias románticas, en lugar de ofrecer algo realmente valioso. Fue bastante triste porque si hubieran elegido a unos actores que tuvieran más química tal vez la película pudiera haber sido mejor y la historia hubiera sido más creíble, por eso algunas veces temo ver las cosas que salen en Netflix porque siento que me terminó decepcionando a pesar de que hay producciones buenas por parte de ellos. Hablemos finalmente del género en sí, el romance. En mi opinión, el romance es un género hermoso y lleno de emociones. Sin embargo, en esta ocasión sentí que todo estaba demasiado forzado y superficial. Faltó profundidad en los personajes y en las relaciones que se iban desarrollando a lo largo de la película. Hubo momentos en los que no pude evitar preguntarme si realmente estaba viendo una historia de amor o simplemente una farsa.
Now, let's talk a little about Netflix. As we know, this streaming platform has given great productions in recent years, but this time I can't say the same. The visual quality of the film was good, yes, but the story and the way it was told left much to be desired. I get the impression that it was a production more focused on cashing in on the romantic comedy boom, rather than offering something really worthwhile. It was quite sad because if they had cast actors that had more chemistry maybe the movie could have been better and the story would have been more believable, that's why sometimes I dread watching things that come out on Netflix because I feel like it ended up disappointing me even though there are good productions by them. Let's finally talk about the genre itself, romance. In my opinion, romance is a beautiful genre and full of emotions. However, on this occasion I felt that everything was too forced and superficial. It lacked depth in the characters and in the relationships that were developing throughout the film. There were moments when I couldn't help but wonder if I was really watching a love story or just a farce.
"OMG! Oh My Girl" fue una película que no cumplió con mis expectativas. La trama predecible, la falta de química entre los actores, la narración poco emocionante y la falta de profundidad en el romance, hicieron que esta experiencia fuera decepcionante. Esperaba más de Netflix y de un género que me apasiona. Sin embargo, como siempre, esta es solo mi opinión y cada uno debe decidir por sí mismo si vale la pena ver esta película que se encuentra en Netflix y también en otras plataformas de películas por internet. ¡Nos vemos en el próximo post! 🤗
"OMG! Oh My Girl" was a movie that did not live up to my expectations. The predictable plot, lack of chemistry between the actors, unexciting narration, and lack of depth in the romance made this a disappointing experience. I expected more from Netflix and from a genre that I am passionate about. However, as always, this is just my opinion and everyone must decide for themselves if this movie found on Netflix and also on other online movie platforms is worth watching. see you in the next post! 🤗
