Today I had to do some errands in the morning and once I got home I felt like watching a movie, but honestly I had no idea what it could be, so I was surfing the internet a little bit until I found one that caught my attention, but before I found one I remembered that I had been recommended a movie that I thought was very good, so I thought it was the right time to give it a chance and know what makes it so good, so without more to add, today I want to tell you about the movie called "Promising Young Woman", let's start.

This movie released on December 25, 2020 is a British-American production that belongs to the suspense genre, but also has a very dark comedy, so it is a quite interesting combination with a very unexpected story and is that in this film we will follow the story of Cassie, a waitress who had a promising future that she had to put aside when she decided to take care of her lifelong friend named Nina after she was raped and no one but Cassie believed her, which generated Nina to commit suicide and Cassie decided to seek revenge.
Let's talk a little bit about what happens inside the movie, it starts in what seems to be a nightclub, where a group of men are talking, until one of them notices a woman who seems to be very drunk, so they start to insinuate that she is making it easy for anyone who wants to abuse her (which they seem to want to do) and one of them decides to go talk to her to "make sure she is okay" while the others support him, when he talks to her after a few minutes he offers to take her home, which she accepts.

On the way he asks her if she wants to have one last beer at his apartment which is nearby, she never responds, but he decides for her and they change direction to his place. Once at his apartment he pours her a drink and starts kissing her, she doesn't do anything, she just says she is tired and wants to go to bed, so he takes her to bed, she just wanted to rest, but he keeps kissing and touching her, even when she asks him what he is doing, he continues without caring, but at that moment the girl reveals that she was never drunk and with this the movie begins.

So we meet Cassie, who has a notebook where she writes down some names of men who tried to abuse her when she was "drunk", we also discover that she is a waitress. One day at work a guy shows up who recognizes Cassie, he is an old college classmate, who after some awkwardness invites Cassie on a date, the next thing we see is Cassie putting on her make-up, but it is not the date she is going on, she does the same thing again of pretending to be very drunk and ends up at the house of some stranger who clearly has other intentions, Cassie tells him she wants to go home, but he doesn't care, but is scared to see that Cassie wasn't drunk at all and confronts him to make him see the kind of person he is.
So we discover that Cassie goes to a nightclub every week and acts like she is drunk and in all those occasions there is a "nice guy" who tries to know if she is "ok", evidencing what kind of people they are. Her former classmate comes back again to ask her out, now Cassie does accept, they have a nice date and he invites her to his apartment, which doesn't seem to please Cassie so they end up saying goodbye, but then she goes to his work and tells him that she really wants to go on another date with him, things seem to be going well, until he mentions another former classmate and Cassie seems very interested in this other former classmate and so begins a Cassie's caseria to get revenge on those who hurt her friend.

From this point on I will only talk about my opinion of the movie, those who want to see the movie can continue reading, I will not tell any spoiler. I want to talk about the story in general, it really seems to me that it is a very original story that maintains a plot thread from beginning to end, honestly it seems to me that everything makes sense and that it is necessary to pay attention to go realizing certain details that are shown from the beginning, I'm not saying that it is essential, but this gives more context to certain things, so I consider that the film has a story superior to others and I would dare to say that it is one of the best in the genre of revenge.
I consider that this film has a rather far-fetched concept in the good sense of the word and touches too dark topics and that in many occasions people avoid and usually censor, but in this film we will find things that will be uncomfortable because that is how it is in real life, the truth usually makes some people uncomfortable, so in this story is told in a very striking and raw way that ends up catching and it seems to me that according to the story we will be immersed in a very dark world, so it is not a film for all audiences, but it is a film that should be seen.

What I find most incredible about this movie is that its story does not include anything fantasy, it is a story that could be real and this I would say makes it better than many others, but it also makes it a sad movie, because you can evidence the true being of the human, clearly focused on a particular subject, but it is something that cannot be hidden with a finger, so it ends up being a movie that induces you to experience many feelings, mostly none good, but that indicates exactly the power that the story has in this movie.
Finally, another point that I think is very good about the film are the plot twists and the way in which the film goes through different aspects of life and even genres of cinema, clearly I will not say which ones, but I will say that the film starts one way and then halfway through it changes completely, which makes us see a very different film from the beginning and I thought this was excellent, because we are taken by the hand through a story that does not disappoint, besides having an excellent development and a very unexpected ending, but that will not leave anyone disappointed, it is a perfect film from beginning to end.

I end repeating that it is not a movie for all audiences, because the story really touches very strong themes and also touches sensitive fibers, so if you plan to see it be aware of it, but I must admit that the movie is a genius and I loved it, not for what happens, but for what it ends up teaching, there are movies that are easily forgettable and others that are not, believe me this is one that you will remember for a long time. El día de hoy tuve que hacer algunas diligencias en la mañana y una vez que llegué a casa tenía ganas de ver alguna película, pero honestamente no tenía idea de cuál podía ser, por lo que estuve navegando un poco por internet hasta encontrar alguna que me llamara la atención, pero antes de encontrar alguna recordé que me habían recomendado una película que según era muy buena, por lo que me pareció el momento adecuado para darle una oportunidad y saber qué la hace tan buena, así que sin más que agregar, el día de hoy quiero hablarles sobre la película llamada “Una joven prometedora”, comencemos.

Esta película estrenada el 25 de diciembre del año 2020 es una producción británica-estadounidense que pertenece al género de suspenso, pero también tiene una comedia muy oscura, por lo que es una combinación bastante interesante con una historia muy inesperada y es que en esta película seguiremos la historia de Cassie, una camarera que tuvo un futuro prometedor que tuvo que dejar de lado cuando decidió cuidar a su amiga de toda la vida llamada Nina luego de que esta fuese violada y nadie más que Cassie le creyera, lo que generó que Nina se suicidara y que Cassie decidiese buscar venganza.
Hablemos un poco de lo que sucede dentro de la película, esta comienza en lo que parece ser una discoteca, donde un grupo de hombres se encuentran hablando, hasta que uno de ellos se percata de una mujer que parece estar muy borracha, por lo que empiezan a insinuar que ella se lo está colocando fácil para cualquiera que quisiese abusar de ella (cosa que parece que quieren hacer) y uno de ellos decide ir a hablar con ella para “asegurarse que está bien” mientras que los otros le apoyan, cuando éste habla con ella luego de unos minutos se ofrece a llevarla a casa, cosa que ella acepta.

En el camino él le pregunta a ella si quiere tomarse una última cerveza en su departamento que está cerca, ella nunca responde, pero él decide por ella y cambian la dirección hacia la casa de él. Una vez en su departamento le sirve un trago y empieza a besarla, ella no hace nada, sólo dice que está cansada y quiere acostarse, por lo que él la lleva a la cama, ella sólo quería descansar, pero él sigue besándole y tocándole, aún cuando ella le pregunta que qué está haciendo, él sigue sin importar nada, pero en ese momento la chica revela que nunca estuvo borracha y con esto comienza la película.

Así conocemos a Cassie, quien tiene una libreta donde anota algunos nombres de hombres que intentaron abusar de ella cuando estaba “borracha”, también descubrimos que es camarera. Un día de trabajo aparece un chico que reconoce a Cassie, es un antiguo compañero de la universidad, el cual después de ciertas torpezas invita a una cita a Cassie, lo siguiente que vemos es a Cassie maquillándose, pero no es a la cita a la que se dirige, vuelve a hacer lo mismo de aparentar estar muy borracha y termina en la casa de algún extraño que claramente tiene otras intenciones, Cassie le dice que quiere irse a casa, pero a él no le importa, pero se asusta al ver que Cassie no estaba nada borracha y lo enfrenta para hacerle ver el tipo de persona que es.
Así descubrimos que Cassie cada semana va a una discoteca y actúa como si estuviese borracha y en todas esas ocasiones hay un “buen tipo” que intenta saber si ella “está bien”, evidenciando así la clase de personas que son. Su ex compañero de clases vuelve nuevamente para invitarle a salir, ahora Cassie sí acepta, tienen una buena cita y él le invita a su departamento, cosa que no parece agradar a Cassie por lo que terminan despidiéndose, pero luego ella va al trabajo de él y le dice que realmente quiere tener otra cita con él, las cosas parecen ir bien, hasta que él menciona a otro ex compañero y Cassie parece muy interesada en este otro ex compañero y así comienza una casería de Cassie para vengarse de aquellos que dañaron a su amiga.

A partir de este punto hablaré sólo de mi opinión de la película, aquellos que deseen ver la película pueden seguir leyendo, no contaré ningún spoiler. Quiero hablar de la historia en general, realmente me parece que es una historia muy original que mantiene un hilo argumental de principio a fin, honestamente me parece que todo tiene sentido y que es necesario prestar atención para ir dándose cuenta de ciertos detalles que son mostrados desde un principio, no digo que sea esencial, pero esto da más contexto a ciertas cosas, por eso considero que la película tiene una historia superior a otras y me atrevería a decir que es de las mejores del género de venganza.
Considero que esta película tiene un concepto bastante rebuscado en el buen sentido de la palabra y toca temas demasiado oscuros y que en muchas ocasiones la gente evita y suele censurar, pero en esta película encontraremos cosas que resultaran incomodas porque así es en la vida real, la verdad suele incomodar a ciertas personas, por eso en esta historia es contada de una manera muy llamativa y cruda que termina por atrapar y me parece que acorde a la historia nos iremos sumergiendo en un mundo muy oscuro, por lo que no es una película para todo público, pero si es una película que debe ser vista.

Lo que me parece más increíble de esta película es que su historia no incluye nada de fantasía, es una historia que podría ser real y esto diría que la hace mejor que muchas otras, pero también la hace una película triste, porque se puede evidenciar el verdadero ser del humano, claramente enfocado en un tema particular, pero es algo que no se puede ocultar con un dedo, por lo que termina siendo una película que te induce a experimentar muchos sentimientos, en su mayoría ninguno bueno, pero eso indica exactamente el poder que tiene la historia en esta película.
Por último, otro punto que me parece muy bueno de la película son los giros argumentales y la manera en que la película se pasea por diferentes aspectos de la vida e incluso géneros del cine, claramente no diré cuales, pero sí que la película empieza de una manera y luego a mitad de camino esta cambia completamente, lo que nos hace ver una película muy diferente del principio y esto me pareció excelente, porque nos llevan de la mano por una historia que no decepciona, además de tener un desarrollo excelente y un final muy inesperado, pero que no dejará a nadie decepcionado, es una película perfecta de principio a fin.

Finalizo repitiendo que no es una película para todo público, porque la historia realmente toca temas muy fuertes y también toca fibras sensibles, por lo que si tienen planeado verla sean conscientes de ello, pero debo admitir que la película es una genialidad y me encantó, no por lo que sucede, sino por lo que termina enseñando, hay películas que son fácilmente olvidables y otras que no, créanme que esta es una que recordarán por mucho tiempo.
