It's quite common for friends or family members to recommend a series or movie that they've enjoyed and think we might like too. In this case, my brother is really into everything related to K-pop, so he recommended this movie to me, which I kept putting off. Then my girlfriend insisted that I watch it too, until I couldn't put it off any longer and we both watched it. So today I want to talk to you about a movie that is causing quite a stir. Let's talk about “K-Pop Demon Hunters”.
This film, released on June 20, 2025, is an American production (honestly, this surprised me a little, but it makes sense why the original language in the film is English) that belongs to the genres of animation, fantasy, comedy, and, of course, musical. This film has a story that mixes different things that one would think wouldn't work, but curiously, it does well. It mixes singers, demons, and the idea of saving the world in an ingenious way, so let's talk in depth about what happens in the film.
What happens in the movie?
Our story begins in a very motivating way. We find ourselves at a concert by the band Huntrix (the protagonists), but a voice tells us that they are more than just pop stars, they are hunters. And so begins a brief explanation of how demons have been stalking the world for many years to steal souls and thus increase the power of their king, until a trio of women emerged who fiercely confronted the demons, and their voices helped in the mission to subdue the demons, but also to unite the souls of people, with whom the first hunters created a protective shield to diminish the strength of the demons. Thus, in each generation, a new trio of hunters is born who must fulfill the same mission.

Which brings us to our protagonists, who are about to give a concert that all their fans are eagerly awaiting, while each one tells us who their favorite is and gives us a brief summary of their life and personality: Mira is the lead dancer, a rebellious girl since childhood; Zoey is the rapper of the group, a girl with a sweet face, but who raps like a demon; and finally, we have Rumy, who has such a special voice that it makes her fans cry. So the concert begins, everything is ready, the only thing missing are the singers... They are not at the concert; they are on a plane eating all kinds of food and being served by some very strange people, who turn out to be demons.

So a big fight begins, where we start to hear Huntrix's songs, which they sing while mercilessly beating the demons with great style, allowing us to appreciate their skills, their weapons, their fighting style, and the personality of each of the girls. When they finish with the demons, they arrive at their big concert in style once again, driving all their fans wild as they sing and rap, putting on the show everyone was waiting for. We get to appreciate how their singing creates a connection between souls, continuing to generate the protective shield against the demons. But not everything is as easy as it seems. The demons have a plan: to counterattack with a band of boys to fight on their own turf, thus creating new competition for the girls.

My opinion about the movie
I think that's enough context, and without mentioning any spoilers beyond what happens in the first few minutes of the film, so from this point on I'll just talk about my opinion on the aspects I liked most about the film. Again, I won't include any spoilers, so you can continue reading without worry. The first thing is the plot. As I mentioned at the beginning, it sounds a bit absurd to combine pop stars who hunt demons and try to save the world from chaos, but curiously, it works quite well. Perhaps the way the plot is integrated with the small premise about the birth of these hunters and their importance is what personally connects with everything and makes it work. It still seems a bit far-fetched, but seriously, the plot ends up hooking you, beyond the musical factor, which is the next aspect.
The most incredible thing about the film, and the reason why it is attracting so much attention, is its musical score. The songs are excellent, and I would venture to say that even those who are not fans of K-pop might enjoy them. The reason is simple: the film makes you connect visually first, and the music allows you to enjoy everything that is happening. Plus, the songs are sentimental and can give you goosebumps. That's the beauty of this type of production: you can really see that they care about connecting with people and not just selling a product. So, I'm sure that, like me, you'll love the songs and they'll stick in your head for quite some time.

Let's talk about comedy. I'm someone who has a pretty silly sense of humor, to be honest, so a lot of things can make me laugh easily, but I think this one really does the job of making people laugh, most likely because of that silly humor, silly scenes with silly mistakes, the characters and their silly actions. I repeat the word a lot because I think that's how humor can be defined, which makes it quite healthy humor that anyone can enjoy, from the fall of an object to the expressions of the characters, which brings me to the last section.
The animation in the film is very beautiful. The visuals make you want to see all the details because everything is so colorful, and each character is visually appealing. I'm not talking about beauty, but rather how well the animation is rendered. but there's also a touch of beauty to it. Many of the characters are aesthetically appealing, and I would say that this is a very common aspect when we talk about K-pop culture and idols, so it's not surprising at all. Something I really loved about the animation, which combines with the comedy, is that there are certain facial expressions on the main characters that are very strange, even uncomfortable to watch at times, but this makes them funnier and gives them personality to differentiate them from the rest of the characters. Without a doubt, this is a very well-made film in many different ways.

I'll finish by saying that it's a film worth watching. I could easily watch it again to enjoy the songs and silly humor once more. I understand why my brother and then my girlfriend insisted that I watch it. It's a very entertaining film that I think would leave no one disappointed, whether you're a K-pop fan or not. A film that grabs you from the beginning and makes you want to know how it will all end, plus surprises you don't expect, it has everything. In my personal rating, I would give it a perfect 4.5 stars out of 5. Perhaps if I were more of a K-pop lover, it would be a 5 without a doubt, haha.

Es bastante común que algunas personas, sean amistades o familiares nos recomienden alguna serie o película que a ellos les ha gustado y piensan que a nosotros también nos pueden gustar, en este caso mi hermano le gusta mucho todo lo referente al k-pop, por lo que me recomendó esta película la cual estuve dando largas, luego mi novia me insistió que la viera también, hasta que no pude aplazarlo más y ambos la vimos, por lo que el día de hoy quiero hablarles de una película que está dando de qué hablar, por lo tanto, hablemos de “Las guerreras k-pop”.
Esta película estrenada el 20 de junio del año 2025 es una producción estadounidense (honestamente esto me sorprendió un poco, pero tiene sentido de por qué su idioma original en la película es inglés) que pertenece al género de animación, fantasía, comedia y, por supuesto, musical. Esta película tiene una historia que mezcla diferentes cosas, las que alguien pensaría que no funcionarían, pero curiosamente lo hace bien. Mezcla cantantes, demonios y la idea de salvar el mundo de una manera ingeniosa, por lo que hablemos en profundidad de lo que ocurre en la película.
¿Qué sucede en la película?
Nuestra historia comienza de una manera muy motivada, nos ubicamos en un concierto del grupo Huntrix (las protagonistas), pero una voz nos habla de que son más que solo estrellas del pop, son cazadoras y así empieza una pequeña explicación del cómo los demonios acechan el mundo desde muchísimos años atrás para robar las almas y así aumentar la fuerza de su rey, hasta que surgió un trío de mujeres quienes se enfrentaban a los demonios de manera feroz y su voz ayudaba en la misión de aplacar a los demonios, pero también para unir las almas de las personas, con las cuales las primeras cazadoras crearon el escudo protector para disminuir la fuerza de los demonios y así en cada generación nace un nuevo trío de cazadoras que deben cumplir con la misma misión.

Lo que nos lleva a nuestras protagonistas, las cuales están a punto de dar un conciertom todos los fans esperan por ellas, mientras cada uno nos dice quién es su favorita y nos dan un pequeño resumen de su vida y personalidad: Mira es la bailarina principal, una chica rebelde desde pequeña, Zoey es la rapera del grupo, una chica con cara tierna, pero que rapea como un demonio y por último tenemos a Rumy quien tiene una voz tan especial que hace llorar a sus fans, así da comienzo al concierto, está todo listo, lo único que falta son las cantantes… Ellas no se encuentran en el concierto, están en un avión comiendo todo tipo de comida y siendo atendidas por unas personas muy extrañas, las cuales resultan ser demonios.

Por lo que comienza una gran pelea, donde empezamos a escuchar las canciones de Huntrix, que las cantan mientras golpean a los demonios sin nada de piedad y lo hacen con mucho estilo, por lo que apreciamos un poco sus habilidades, sus armas, su forma de pelear y la personalidad de cada una de las chicas. Así cuando terminan con los demonios, llegan a su gran concierto con mucho estilo nuevamente y haciendo que todos sus fans se vuelvan locos al escucharlas cantar y rapear, dando así el espectáculo que todos estaban esperando y logramos apreciar el cómo al cantar generan esa conexión entre las almas para seguir generando el escudo protector contra los demonios. Pero no todo es tan fácil como parece, los demonios tienen un plan, contratacar con una banda de chicos para pelear en su mismo terreno y así surge una nueva competencia para las chicas.

Mí opinión sobre la película
Me parece que lo anterior es contexto suficiente y sin mencionar ningún spoiler más allá de lo que sucede en los primeros minutos de la película, por lo que a partir de este punto solo hablaré de mi opinión sobre los aspectos que más me gustaron de la película, nuevamente, no lo haré con spoilers, así que pueden seguir leyendo con tranquilidad. Lo primero es la trama, ya lo mencioné al principio, suena algo absurdo combinar estrellas de pop que se dedican a cazar demonios e intentan salvar el mundo del caos, pero curiosamente funciona bastante bien, quizás la manera de integrar la trama con la pequeña premisa sobre el nacimiento de estas cazadoras y su importancia es lo que conecta personalmente con todo y hace que funcione, aún sigue pareciendo algo descabellado, pero en serio la trama te termina enganchando, más allá de que también está el factor musical, el cual es el siguiente aspecto.
Lo más increíble de la película y por lo cual está llamando tanto la atención, es su apartado musical, las canciones son buenísimas, me atrevería a decir que les podrían gustar incluso a aquellos que no son amantes del k-pop, la razón es simple, la película te hace conectar visualmente primero y la música te permite disfrutar de todo lo que va sucediendo, además que las canciones llegan a ser sentimentales y pueden terminar poniendo la piel de gallina, es lo bonito de este tipo de producciones, cuando realmente se ve que les importa conectar con las personas y no solo vender un producto, por lo cual, estoy seguro de que al igual que yo, amarán las canciones y se quedarán con alguna en la cabeza por bastante tiempo.

Hablemos de la comedia, yo soy una persona que tiene un sentido del humor bastante tonto la verdad, por lo cual muchas cosas me pueden hacer reír fácilmente, pero me parece que esta cumple realmente con el cometido de hacer reír, muy probablemente por ese humor tonto, escenas tontas con descuidos tontos, los personajes y sus acciones tontas, repito mucho la palabra porque así considero que se puede definir el humor, lo cual lo hace un humor bastante sano y que puede permitir que cualquiera lo disfrute, desde la caída de un objeto, hasta las expresiones de los personajes, lo cual me lleva al último apartado.
La animación de la película es muy hermosa, el apartado visual te hace querer ver todos los detalles por lo colorido que resulta todo, además que cada personaje se ve visualmente atractivo, no hablo de belleza, sino por lo bien que se aprecia la animación, pero también tiene algo el toque de belleza, muchos de los personajes atraen estéticamente y diría que ese es un aspecto muy concurrente cuando hablamos de la cultura k-pop y los ídolos, por lo cual no es para nada de extrañar. Algo en la animación que me encantó mucho y se combina con la comedia, es que, hay ciertas expresiones faciales en las protagonistas que son muy raras, llegan a ser incómodas de ver en ciertos momentos, pero esto los hace más graciosas y les brinda personalidad para diferenciarlas del resto de personajes, sin duda una película muy bien lograda en sus diferentes aspectos.

Finalizo diciendo que es una película que vale la pena ver, podría decir que la volvería a ver sin problemas para disfrutar una vez más de las canciones y el humor tonto. Entiendo por qué la insistencia de mi hermano y luego de mi novia para que la viera, es una película muy amena que podría decir que no dejaría a nadie decepcionado, seas amante o no del k-pop. Una película que te atrapa desde el principio y te hace querer saber cómo terminará todo, además de sorpresas que no te esperas, tiene de todo. En mi puntuación personal, le daría perfectamente 4.5 estrellas de 5, quizás si fuese más amante del k-pop sería un 5 sin dudas, jaja.

Firstly, I'm not really one for watching anime style stuff, and I can't understand kpop or idol culture, no matter how hard I try. My wife wanted to watch this, so we did.
I found it pretty jarring how the animation style changed from almost scene to scene. In some, it appeared that keyframes were missing entirely, and the animation wasn't at all smooth, and it felt like, at times, there were completely jarring transitions between art styles, like they couldn't commit on a single way to tell the story.
To me, it felt like a colour grade changing in the middle of the film, but that, I could probably cope with, as the combination of the art style and fluidity of the animation changing was just too much for me, on a technical level, even if it was intended as an artistic choice.
The songs were not at all catchy - I mean, not big hits like something like Frozen or Hazbin Hotel, and I was overall left with a feeling of... "meh"?
I don't know much about kpop culture or idols either, I would say that the great impact or emotion of people is mostly an impressive fanaticism that has been spreading.
As for the animation style, the productions that are based on Korean themes or plots (mostly) are usually that discordant because they try to incorporate many things, sometimes they are successful and sometimes not so much.
As for the musical, I guess it also depends a lot on each person's taste, personally I thought the song of “golden” was amazing and lately I find it in many social networks, but I understand your opinion and you have your points.
My chosen genre is mostly metal and its various sub-genres, but I also listen to things like Florence and Machine, Garbage, and a whole bunch of other crap that is all over the place. But definitely not mainstream kpop :P
If its a stylistic choice for the animation to be that way, that's fine, but, as I mentioned, for me, it got in the way of the presentation. I am sure the film is doing quite well commercially, too.
The out-takes in the credits seemed to suggest that the cast had fun making it, and that's important too!

Esta película la vi con mi niño, me pareció una historia bastante entretenida, aunque lo que más llama la atención es el diseño de sus personajes y la calidad la animación con la que fue trabajada la película, el humor tiene sus toques, aunque podía dar un poco más.
Así es, el apartado visual de la película sin duda es uno de sus mayores fuertes y de sus atractivos. Con respecto al humor, si depende mucho de lo que te guste o no, pero es cierto, la película pudo haber sido mejor, pero tiene su encanto de igual manera. ¡Saludos!
