2 Streaming Action Movies - Review [ES - EN]
En las últimas semanas, tanto Netflix como Amazon Prime Video, estrenaron películas de acción, de las cuales decidí hacer una breve reseña de ambas producciones que presentan historias diferentes, pero con la similitud de tener escenas completamente desenfrenadas y entretenidas.
In recent weeks, both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, released action movies, of which I decided to make a brief review of both productions that present different stories, but with the similarity of having completely unbridled and entertaining scenes.
"HAVOC" es de las películas que tenía muchas expectativas de ver, ya que era dirigida y escrita por Gareth Evans, quien también dirigió y escribió las míticas películas de acción "The Raid" y "The Raid 2"; eso era suficiente para saber que está producción tendría escenas de acción de alta calidad como siempre ofrece este director en sus proyectos. Este film original de Netflix, se desarrolla en una ciudad hundida en la corrupción liderada por gobernantes, policías y criminales que transitan en un mismo camino en donde es imposible que en algún momento no se desate una lucha entre todos y justamente el robo de un cargamento de estupefacientes, se convierte en la excusa perfecta para desatar el caos y solamente un detective corrupto tendrá la posibilidad de redimirse al tratar no tanto de hacer justicia, sino poner fin a la red criminal que le hizo perder todo.
"HAVOC" is one of the movies I had high expectations to see, since it was directed and written by Gareth Evans, who also directed and wrote the mythical action movies "The Raid" and "The Raid 2"; that was enough to know that this production would have high quality action scenes as this director always offers in his projects. This Netflix original film, takes place in a city plunged in corruption led by rulers, police and criminals who travel on the same path where it is impossible that at some point a fight between all is not unleashed and precisely the theft of a shipment of narcotics, becomes the perfect excuse to unleash chaos and only a corrupt detective will have the possibility to redeem himself by trying not so much to do justice, but to put an end to the criminal network that made him lose everything.
Este es un film que tuvo muchos problemas en su producción a causa de la huelga de guionista, justamente el guion es el gran problema que presenta está película al ser su punto más débil; lamentablemente el relato sobre una ciudad sumergida en la corrupción no es muy bien desarrollada y eso resta todo el potencial del film que se mantiene a flote por las muy dinámicas, violentas y sangrientas escenas de acción, todas son muy impactantes, pero creo que no es suficiente para decir que este es un gran trabajo de Evans quien lamentablemente sucumbe en el uso del peor trabajo de CGI que he visto desde "The Flash". Lamento que en esta película se pierda la oportunidad de haber desarrollo una mejor historia en dónde sus múltiples protagonistas tenga oportunidad de demostrar que relevancia tiene en la historia y así crear un mayor impacto en el acto final y repito, está película tiene de las escenas más violentas que he visto desde "The Night Comes for Us", que es el punto más alto de la película, aunque no pueden superar lo malo del guion, lo cual conlleva malas actuaciones en especial de Tom Hardy, quien en mi opinión su interpretación de un policía afectado por la influencia criminal que lo rodea, no es convincente aunque aprecio el compromiso para llevar a cabo las múltiples escenas de acción que realiza; este pobre desempeño de Evans me crea cierta preocupación porque creo que le resta oportunidad para ser alguien importante en futuros proyectos dentro del género y espero que en su próximo trabajo pueda recuperar la calidad vista en anteriores películas.
This is a film that had many problems in its production due to the scriptwriter's strike, precisely the script is the big problem of this film as it is its weakest point; Unfortunately the story about a city submerged in corruption is not very well developed and that subtracts all the potential of the film that is kept afloat by the very dynamic, violent and bloody action scenes, all are very shocking, but I think it is not enough to say that this is a great work of Evans who unfortunately succumbs in the use of the worst CGI work I've seen since "The Flash". I regret that this movie misses the opportunity to have developed a better story where its multiple protagonists have a chance to show what relevance they have in the story and thus create a greater impact in the final act and I repeat, this movie has some of the most violent scenes I've seen since "The Night Comes for Us", which is the high point of the movie, although they can't overcome the bad script, which leads to bad performances especially from Tom Hardy, who in my opinion his interpretation of a cop affected by the criminal influence that surrounds him, is not convincing although I appreciate the commitment to carry out the multiple action scenes he performs; this poor performance of Evans creates some concern for me because I think it takes away his opportunity to be someone important in future projects within the genre and I hope that in his next work he can recover the quality seen in previous films.
"Fight or Flight" es una grata sorpresa, es una película simple, tonta, fantasiosa, cómica, violenta, sangrienta y divertida; no tiene ninguna intención de ser original o de realizar algo nuevo dentro del género de acción, solo tiene una función la cual es ser sumamente entretenida y creo que lo logra. Este film fue estrenado hace días en Amazon Prime Video y relata la historia de un ex agente secreto llamado "Lucas Reyes", quien al estar exiliado en Bangkok, es contratado por una agencia secreta para capturar a un hacker llamado "The Ghost" que está siendo perseguido siendo su única opción de escapar un vuelo hacia San Francisco; la misión se nota con cierta facilidad, pero lo que no sabe Lucas, no a quien persigue, es que en el vuelo donde van ambos no será para nada placentero, ya que el vuelo está lleno de asesinos.
"Fight or Flight" is a pleasant surprise, it is a simple, silly, fantasy, comic, violent, bloody and funny movie; it has no intention of being original or doing something new within the action genre, it only has one function which is to be highly entertaining and I think it achieves it. This film was released a few days ago on Amazon Prime Video and tells the story of a former secret agent named "Lucas Reyes", who being exiled in Bangkok, is hired by a secret agency to capture a hacker named "The Ghost" who is being pursued being his only option to escape a flight to San Francisco; the mission is noted with some ease, but what Lucas does not know, not who he is chasing, is that the flight where they both go will not be at all pleasant, since the flight is full of murderers.
Este es el primer largometraje que es dirigido por James Madigan, quien hace un correcto debut, destaco las escenas de acción, las cuales son muy bien coregrafiadas, un excelente uso de la cámara, ya que las escenografías son pequeñas y las tomas son en ángulos bien cerrados, pero eso no evita que exista gran emoción e impacto por lo violenta y sangrienta; este es un film que es notorio su bajo presupuesto, pero eso no evita que el uso del CGI sea en momentos precisos lo cual es positivo porque no existe imágenes erradas, sino muy gráficas. El guion escrito por Brooks McLaren y D. J. Cotrona, es simple, cómico, flexible, pero también es nada original; los personajes son caricaturescos con frases tontas y motivos nada convincentes o por lo menos no son bien interpretados por los actores, pero eso no lo considero un problema porque al final este es un film para no tomarlo muy en serio, ya que su finalidad es el de entretener. Los puntos destacables de esta película son las escenas de acción y la actuación de Josh Hartnett, quien hace un perfecto trabajo interpretando a alguien que ha perdido toda noción de cordura, pero que no exagera en lo que es su personaje que es divertido y así como sucedió con el film "Trap", ha demostrado que puede interpretar diferentes roles; no hay duda que si debo recomendar de las dos películas a que hago reseña, es Fight or Flight la que deberían de ver.

The script written by Brooks McLaren and D. J. Cotrona is simple, comical, flexible, but not original; the characters are caricatured with silly phrases and unconvincing motives or at least they are not well interpreted by the actors, but I do not consider that a problem because in the end this is a film not to be taken too seriously, since its purpose is to entertain. The highlights of this film are the action scenes and the performance of Josh Hartnett, who does a perfect job playing someone who has lost all notion of sanity, but who does not exaggerate in what is his character which is fun and just as it happened with the film "Trap", he has shown that he can play different roles; there is no doubt that if I must recommend of the two films I am reviewing, it is Fight or Flight the one you should see.
