"All of it's gotta stop... Starting now"

La tercera temporada de "Barry" sí que se hizo esperar; la aparición de la pandemia atrasó todo plan del estreno anual de esta serie y por eso se tuvo un hiato de tres años hasta que por fin en el pasado mes de mayo pudo regresar a la pantalla chica para seguir relatando la vida de un hombre que quiere borrar su pasado y vivir nuevas oportunidades. Las decisiones y hechos que fueron tema principal en las anteriores temporadas nos han traído a una terrorífica y grave situación que debe afrontar "Barry Berkman", este personaje está en una encrucijada en dónde su estabilidad mental está completamente deteriorada y no consigue una ayuda para poder levantarse y por fin hacer algo que realmente sea considerado como algo bueno; Barry se ha vuelto alguien solitario y es que piensa que nadie puede cargar con todo lo que ha hecho y eso cada vez más lo aleja de la realidad y lo empuja a una inevitable locura.

The third season of "Barry" was a long time coming; the appearance of the pandemic delayed all plans for the annual premiere of this series and that is why there was a three-year hiatus until finally last May when it returned to the small screen to continue narrating the life of a man who wants to erase his past and live new opportunities. The decisions and events that were the main theme in previous seasons have brought us to a terrifying and serious situation that "Barry Berkman" must face, this character is at a crossroads where his mental stability is completely deteriorated and he cannot get help to get up and finally do something that is really considered as something good; Barry has become someone lonely and he thinks that no one can carry everything he has done and that increasingly distances him from reality and pushes him to an inevitable madness.

Lo importante de esta serie es la evolución continúa de todos los que trabajan en esta historia, ninguno de sus personajes principales se queda estancado y siempre están en movimiento para bien o para mal, esto lo digo porque dependiendo de la situación de cada una de sus historias, veremos cómo cada quien debe avanzar en sus vidas y en dónde como el protagonista quieren dejar atrás el pasado, borrarlo o usarlo como motivo de superación; esto es relevante en esta tercera temporada porque no solo nos enfocamos en Barry, sino también debemos ver qué sucede con Sally, Fuches, Hank y Cousineau y eso creo que aumenta el nivel de la historia porque todos siguen rotando en la órbita de Barry, pero cada uno son importantes, son protagonistas.

The important thing about this series is the continuous evolution of all those who work in this story, none of its main characters remain stagnant and are always moving for better or for worse, I say this because depending on the situation of each of their stories, we will see how each one must move forward in their lives and where as the protagonist want to leave the past behind, erase it or use it as a reason for overcoming; this is relevant in this third season because we not only focus on Barry, but we must also see what happens with Sally, Fuches, Hank and Cousineau and I think that increases the level of the story because they all continue to rotate in Barry's orbit, but each one is important, they are protagonists.

Recuerdo que la primera vez que vi el primer episodio de esta serie y en los títulos finales leer el nombre de Bill Hader como director, escritor y productor, me sorprendió mucho porque algunas veces pensamos que los actores relacionados con la comedia tal vez se nos hace difícil poder relacionarlos en otros ámbitos del desarrollo de un proyecto y mi sorpresa era por lo bien dirigido, escrito y actuado por parte de Hader en ese episodio, ahora lo que ha hecho en esta nueva temporada es algo que debe catalogarlo en un gran nivel como director y guionista; en esta oportunidad dirigió cinco episodios de los ocho que conforman la temporada y en estos episodios hay hermosas tomas, grandes ángulos, los escenarios son excelentes y sin hablar de la fotografía, creo que como director se enfocó en dar lo mejor para elevar el umbral de calidad que tiene esta serie, ahora en la parte de la creación del guion, el desarrollo de esta comedia trágica es donde encuentro y confirmo que es mejor historia de la que fue en las dos temporadas anteriores; Hader junto a Berg y a otro grupo de guionista nos dan una gran historia en dónde un hombre está completamente roto y no recibe ayuda de nadie porque las personas que lo rodean saben quién es o tienen una definición de quién o porque justamente Barry teme en mostrar quien era anteriormente y sabe que nadie podrá aceptarlo por lo que ha hecho, es por eso que en esta parte de su historia es más solitario que nunca y eso se le hace más difícil de poder decir basta y comenzar de nuevo; seguramente pensaran que esto está muy alejado a lo que debe ser una serie considerada como comedia, pero esta etapa era inevitable de contar en la vida de este personaje y a pesar de ser más dramático, me gusta que de una forma y otra se cree comedia a pesar de relatar vivencias difíciles como es la búsqueda del perdón o la fuerte lucha contra la depresión.

I remember the first time I saw the first episode of this series and in the end titles read the name of Bill Hader as director, writer and producer, I was very surprised because sometimes we think that actors related to comedy maybe it is difficult to relate them in other areas of the development of a project and my surprise was because of how well directed, written and acted by Hader in that episode, now what he has done in this new season is something that must catalog it at a high level as a director and screenwriter; this time he directed five episodes of the eight that make up the season and in these episodes there are beautiful shots, great angles, the scenarios are excellent and not to mention the photography, I think as a director focused on giving the best to raise the threshold of quality that has this series, now in the part of the creation of the script, the development of this tragic comedy is where I find and confirm that it is a better story than it was in the previous two seasons; Hader together with Berg and another group of screenwriters give us a great story where a man is completely broken and does not receive help from anyone because the people around him know who he is or have a definition of who he is or because Barry is afraid to show who he was before and knows that no one can accept him for what he has done, that is why in this part of his story he is more lonely than ever and that makes it more difficult for him to say enough and start again; surely you will think that this is very far from what should be a series considered as a comedy, but this stage was inevitable to tell in the life of this character and despite being more dramatic, I like that in one way or another comedy is created despite relating difficult experiences such as the search for forgiveness or the strong struggle against depression.

Las actuaciones de todo el cast principal son de un gran nivel, hasta los breves momentos o escenas en dónde aparece algún nuevo personaje hace que los actores que los interpretan demuestren gran intensidad, se ve que existe un gran compromiso en su trabajo y se nota lo importante que les da los guionistas y directores a cada uno de ellos; resaltó el trabajo de Sarah Goldberg quien interpreta a "Sally" en dónde en esta temporada puedo decir que es protagonista de su propia historia, de un camino que puede experimentar cualquier persona en dónde un día estás en lo más alto de tu carrera, sentirte poderoso e independiente y en otro día estar completamente hundido, perdido y hasta tener malos pensamientos y tomar malas decisiones; su actuación en toda la temporada es excelente y a pesar de que todos piensen que es un personaje fácil de odiar, pienso que al tener una vida como víctima se le hace difícil de afrontar muchas cosas y por eso algunas veces es demasiado egoísta; otro gran actor es Henry Winkler como "Gene Cousineau" para simplificar (y mucho) su actuación en esta temporada, su personaje es un claro ejemplo del "síndrome de Estocolmo", el descubrimiento a final de la temporada anterior dictamina su actuación en esta temporada llena de miedo, uno de mis personajes favoritos; Anthony Carrigan como "NoHo Hank" sin duda el mejor personaje de la serie, alguien positivo y alegre a pesar de ser miembro de una organización criminal y hasta él deberá cambiar para no perder lo que le ha hecho tener un nuevo propósito en su vida, todos ellos de forma directa e indirecta son parte de la vida de Barry aunque en sus ganas de seguir con sus vidas dejan solo a un muy dependiente personaje y que Bill Hader lo interpreta de forma magistral; Barry transita en esa línea delgada entre lo la locura y estabilidad mental y eso dictamina la vida de este personaje, un quiebre total, triste, tráfico, dramático y hasta cómico, eso sí de una forma extraña.

The performances of all the main cast are of a great level, even the brief moments or scenes where a new character appears make the actors who play them show great intensity, you can see that there is a great commitment in their work and you can see how important the screenwriters and directors give each of them; She highlighted the work of Sarah Goldberg who plays "Sally" where in this season I can say that she is the protagonist of her own story, of a path that anyone can experience where one day you are at the top of your career, feeling powerful and independent and on another day being completely sunk, lost and even having bad thoughts and making bad decisions; his performance throughout the season is excellent and even though everyone thinks he's an easy character to hate, I think that having a life as a victim makes it hard for him to cope with a lot of things and that's why sometimes he's too selfish; another great actor is Henry Winkler as "Gene Cousineau" to simplify (and a lot) his performance in this season, his character is a clear example of the "Stockholm syndrome", the discovery at the end of the previous season dictates his performance in this season full of fear, one of my favorite characters; Anthony Carrigan as "NoHo Hank" undoubtedly the best character of the series, someone positive and cheerful despite being a member of a criminal organization and even he must change to not lose what has made him have a new purpose in his life, all of them directly and indirectly are part of Barry's life although in their desire to continue with their lives they leave only a very dependent character and that Bill Hader plays him masterfully; Barry walks that fine line between insanity and mental stability and that dictates the life of this character, a total break, sad, traffic, dramatic and even comic, yes in a strange way.

Cuando termine de ver el octavo episodio de la tercera temporada que se llama "starting now" pensaba en como era posible que esta serie todavía seguía siendo considerada dentro del género de la comedia y esto lo digo por este episodio que cierra está temporada fue muy intenso, pero al mismo momento recuerdo episodios de las temporadas anteriores y de esta en dónde hubo partes en dónde no dejaba de reír porque en escenas dónde hay sucesos o diálogo en dónde no debería existir la comedia, es donde se hace imposible no reírse y creo que eso demuestra la calidad de escritura, actuación y dirección de esta serie, en principal de esta temporada; crea escenas muy relacionadas con momentos dramáticos, críticos y los une a la comedia, los transforma en comedia y eso es lo especial de esta producción de HBO, creo que es por eso que la considero como una de las mejores series que he visto, siendo está tercera temporada la mejor. Espero que sí no son fan de esta serie, quieran ver algo diferente, una serie bien con todos los mejores elementos, rápida de ver porque son tan solo 24 episodios con una duración de 30 minutos, así que espero que puedan animarse y ver una historia trágica, cómica, llena de segundas oportunidades.

When I finished watching the eighth episode of the third season called "starting now" I thought about how it was possible that this series was still considered within the comedy genre and I say this because this episode that closes this season was very intense, but at the same time I remember episodes of previous seasons and this one where there were parts where I could not stop laughing because in scenes where there are events or dialogue where comedy should not exist, it is where it is impossible not to laugh and I think that shows the quality of writing, acting and direction of this series, especially this season; creates scenes very related to dramatic moments, critical and joins them to comedy, transforms them into comedy and that's what is special about this HBO production, I think that's why I consider it as one of the best series I've seen, being this third season the best. I hope that if you are not a fan of this series, you want to see something different, a series with all the best elements, quick to watch because there are only 24 episodes with a duration of 30 minutes, so I hope you can cheer up and see a tragic, comic story, full of second chances.
