Captain America: Brave New World - Movie Review [ES - EN]
Mi interés sobre la franquicia del "Marvel Cinematic Universe" pasó de querer ver un correcto o desmedido uso del fanservice a verificar que tan cierto son las críticas negativas de películas y series que han creado desconexión tanto en fans como un nuevo público; la realidad es que no siento motivo alguno de ver de manera inmediata alguna de estas producciones aunque las últimas dos películas del 2025 (una ya estrenada) atraen mi atención y espero verlas pronto, pero para ser justo decidí dar oportunidad al primer film estrenado este año el cual fue muy criticado antes y después de llegar a las salas de cine.
"Captain America: Brave New World" es el cuarto film de la serie de películas basada en uno de los héroes más emblemáticos de Marvel Comics; esta producción es la secuela directa de la miniserie "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" y en esta oportunidad la historia está completamente enfocada en la primera gran aventura de "Sam Wilson" como el Capitán América, un manto o nombramiento que traerá el peso de lo hecho por el anterior y original capitán, "Steve Rogers", siendo eso la gran motivación para que el nuevo capitán haga todo lo necesario para ser un gran héroe y sí que deberá serlo porque los enemigos a enfrentar será sumamente poderosos.
My interest in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" franchise went from wanting to see a correct or excessive use of fanservice to verify how true are the negative reviews of movies and series that have created disconnection in both fans and a new audience; the truth is that I feel no reason to see immediately any of these productions although the last two films of 2025 (one already released) attract my attention and I hope to see them soon, but to be fair I decided to give a chance to the first film released this year which was highly criticized before and after reaching theaters.
"Captain America: Brave New World" is the fourth film in the series of movies based on one of Marvel Comics' most iconic heroes; this production is the direct sequel to the miniseries "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" and this time the story is completely focused on the first great adventure of "Sam Wilson" as Captain America, a mantle or appointment that will bring the weight of what was done by the previous and original captain, "Steve Rogers", being that the great motivation for the new captain to do everything necessary to be a great hero and yes he must be because the enemies to face will be extremely powerful.
La trigésima quinta película del MCU fue dirigida por Julius Ona en dónde sus trabajos anteriores predomina el género del thriller y posiblemente esa fue la razón de su elección, ya que está película ofrece una historia de intrigas, suspenso y por supuesto las consecuencias por diferentes actos desleales; ahora este es un film basado en un comic y que es parte de una serie de películas en dónde la acción es de primera clase lo cual creo que debió ser la marca a seguir por parte de este nuevo director, pero creo que el presupuesto o los diferentes reshots que fue víctima está producción, al final ofrecieron una serie de escenas de acción que personalmente no me convencieron primeramente por no tener una coreografía de peleas en dónde resalte el protagonista, así como otras secuencias de acción en donde la persecución y enfrentamiento en el aire no fue para nada emocionalmente o por lo menos digno de esta franquicia.
El guion escrito por Ona junto a tres escritores más no es para nada bueno, en especial el comienzo en donde existen diálogos caricaturescos que posiblemente su uso fue ideado para captar la atención del público y haciendo ver al protagonista más divertido, en dónde frases y la comedia predomina junto a las escenas de acción, pero en mi opinión se ve tan forzado así como lo es la comedia en el resto del film. La historia en dónde el peligro está al acecho al ser la consecuencia de hechos terroríficos y que afectan a héroes y a varias naciones es algo que me agradó, no es para nada original, pero creo que funciona para esta película, aunque claramente, es el asunto del Universo Unificado lo que siempre creo que afecta un film de esta franquicia y esta vez no es la excepción porque "Brave New World" funciona (obligatoriamente) como secuela de "The Incredible Hulk" (2008) y así como rellenar el agujero argumental generado por "The Eternals", siendo dos factores que en mi opinión son excusas para el uso del fanservice que lamentablemente no genera gran impacto.
The thirty-fifth film of the MCU was directed by Julius Ona where his previous works predominates the thriller genre and possibly that was the reason for his choice, as this film offers a story of intrigue, suspense and of course the consequences for different disloyal acts; now this is a film based on a comic book and that is part of a series of films where the action is first class which I think should have been the mark to follow by this new director, but I think the budget or the different reshots that was the victim of this production, in the end offered a series of action scenes that personally did not convince me first of all for not having a choreography of fights where the protagonist stands out, as well as other action sequences where the chase and confrontation in the air was not at all emotionally or at least worthy of this franchise.
The script written by Ona along with three other writers is not good at all, especially the beginning where there are cartoonish dialogues that possibly its use was devised to capture the attention of the audience and making the protagonist look funnier, where phrases and comedy predominates next to the action scenes, but in my opinion it looks so forced as well as the comedy is in the rest of the film. The story where danger lurks as the consequence of terrifying events affecting heroes and various nations is something I liked, it's not original at all, but I think it works for this film, though clearly, it is the Unified Universe issue that I always think affects a film of this franchise and this time is no exception because "Brave New World" works (obligatorily) as a sequel to "The Incredible Hulk" (2008) and as a way to fill the plot hole generated by "The Eternals", being two factors that in my opinion are excuses for the use of fanservice that unfortunately does not generate great impact.
La actuación de Anthony Mackie es correcta con respecto al guion con el que tuvo que trabajar; creo que el factor de que su personaje de ser el Capitán América y lidiar con las críticas o la nula aceptación por parte de cierto público es de lo que me gustó y esperaba que tuviera más profundidad, pero creo que Mackie supo trabajar con ese aspecto de la historia y que se asemeja a la realidad lo cual (para mí) hizo funcionar al personaje. Sobre el trabajo de Harrison Ford como "Thaddeus Ross", es de lo más simple que he visto, nada de emoción, ni mucho menos compromiso y este es de los grandes problemas del MCU, en donde se prefiere trabajar con actores de renombre, pero que no ofrecen una actuación digna y es lamentable porque su personaje debió tener un mejor desarrollo tanto de historia como actoral para no ser considerado como uno de los aspectos negativos del film.
The performance of Anthony Mackie is correct with respect to the script he had to work with; I think the factor of his character being Captain America and dealing with criticism or no acceptance from a certain audience is what I liked and I expected him to have more depth, but I think Mackie knew how to work with that aspect of the story and that it resembles reality which (for me) made the character work. About Harrison Ford's work as "Thaddeus Ross", he is one of the simplest I've seen, no emotion, much less commitment and this is one of the big problems of the MCU, where they prefer to work with big name actors, but they don't offer a worthy performance and it's unfortunate because his character should have had a better development of both story and acting to not be considered as one of the negative aspects of the film.
Captain America: Brave New World no es un buen film, la producción está muy por debajo de lo que es el MCU en los últimos años, creo que está historia pudo funcionar mejor si es realizada como un proyecto así como fue la miniserie de la cual está película es una secuela y justamente no dejaba de pensar que tanto escenarios como el CGI y demás elementos del film, me hizo pensar que está era otra producción que debió ser estrenada de manera directa en Disney Plus y no en una sala de cine; no sé qué calidad tendrá las futuras producciones o por lo menos las ya estrenadas y que me faltan por ver, pero mis expectativas seguirán siendo muy bajas para no decepcionarme por completo con esta franquicia que se le está dificultando crear producciones de buena calidad.
Captain America: Brave New World is not a good film, the production is far below what the MCU has been in recent years, I think this story could have worked better if it was made as a project as well as the miniseries of which this film is a sequel and I just kept thinking that both scenarios and CGI and other elements of the film, made me think that this was another production that should have been released directly on Disney Plus and not in a theater; I don't know what quality future productions will have or at least those already released and that I have yet to see, but my expectations will remain very low so as not to be completely disappointed with this franchise that is having a hard time creating good quality productions.

Dear God. I had no idea there were that many. I'm not surprised the fatigue is setting in though. I think the formula they've been sticking with has just been boring audiences, these films all look the same to me, so I can't imagine how similar they must feel to those who actually watch them.
I've been reading a lot of comics lately and I think reading those has me even less interested in the films, the same visual appeal of the comics just seems completely void within these films which look like they're too flat and too grounded in reality.
I faithfully watched all the movies from the first three phases, all in the theater no matter how bad several of those movies were and after Endgame I said enough because I was exhausted and didn't want to watch any more of those movies in a theater and I think the pandemic along with streaming not only made the quality of the productions go down, but people are not as faithful, I think that's why they appeal to nostalgia to have Robert Downey Jr. Play Dr Doom.
Captain America 4 is a boring movie.
Yeah for sure, to recast big names like that is desperation. And it shows. I really don't think he's a good fit for that character, based on what I've seen in the comics about the him.
It's disappointing and I don't know what they'll do and I'd like to say I don't care, but I'll wait to see how Fantastic 4 works because that group of heroes and Dr. Doom are among my favorite characters and I'd like this third time to work, but it's hard for that to happen, at least with the mythical villain.
Have you read any of the comics? My introduction to Doom was through a few recent releases and I found the character quite interesting. There's even one that goes into the creation of Dr Doom as a character.
Si te soy sincero no me gustó la película, es entretenida pero hasta ahí, no se si sea porque no es el mismo personaje o la historia como tal que no convence, pero quién sabe si uno se logra adaptar. Saludos.
La historia no es la mejor y la producción de la película es muy pobre, es simple y aburrida; entretiene si la vez desde la comodidad del hogar y por eso creo que pudo funcionar mejor como una serie en vez de una película.
