CineTV Contest: AIRPLANE! [ESP|ENG]

En el concurso de esta semana promovido por la comunidad de CineTV, el cual debemos hacer una publicación nombrando a nuestra Película Favorita con Aviones; me hizo pensar en las muchas películas que vi entre los 80' y 90' inmediatamente pensé en "Top Gun", "Iron Eagle", "Firefox", "Hot Shots!", y "Air Force One" porque son películas que vi de niño y adolescente, pero ninguna se le acerca a uno de los mejores films cómicos, un clásico en el cine como es "AIRPLANE!".

In this week's contest promoted by the CineTV community, in which we must make a post naming our Favorite Movie with Airplanes; it made me think of the many movies I saw between the 80' and 90' I immediately thought of "Top Gun", "Iron Eagle", "Firefox", "Hot Shots! ", and "Air Force One" because they are movies I saw as a kid and teenager, but none of them come close to one of the best comic films, a classic in cinema as "AIRPLANE!".

Anoche decidí volver a ver este film, el cual tenía mucho tiempo que no veía y lo disfruté como si fuera la primera vez; aunque debo decir que en esta oportunidad disfrute mucho más de su historia que en otras oportunidades y esto lo digo porque pude notar el buen trabajo en la estructura de la historia, en la introducción y protagonismo de ciertos personajes y por supuesto en las escenas cómicas. En este film estrenado en 1980, veremos la historia de "Ted Striker", un ex piloto de guerra el cual los traumas del pasado no le dejan vivir su vida amorosa con "Elain Dickinson", una hermosa y dulce azafata la cual ha decidido terminar su relación porque ya no respeta a quien fue su pareja por varios años; esa decisión obliga a Ted a hacer algo que anteriormente era imposible y eso es subir nuevamente a un avión, pero él está dispuesto a todo y justamente esa decisión sea lo que redima su historia como piloto cuando se convierta en la última esperanza para Elain y todos los pasajeros.

Last night I decided to watch this film again, which I had not seen for a long time and I enjoyed it as if it was the first time; although I must say that this time I enjoyed its story much more than in other opportunities and I say this because I could notice the good work in the structure of the story, in the introduction and prominence of certain characters and of course in the comic scenes. In this film released in 1980, we will see the story of "Ted Striker", a former fighter pilot whose past traumas do not let him live his love life with "Elain Dickinson", a beautiful and sweet stewardess who has decided to end their relationship because she no longer respects her partner for several years; That decision forces Ted to do something that was previously impossible and that is to get back on a plane, but he is willing to do anything and that decision is precisely what redeems his history as a pilot when he becomes the last hope for Elain and all passengers.

Con la breve sinopsis que compartí en el anterior párrafo, la historia de este film puede ser una en dónde el drama, suspenso, intriga, acción y amor sería parte de los géneros que la conforman, pero los guionistas y directores David y Jerry Zucker y Jim Abrahams decidieron dar todo el peso a la comedia para relatar de una manera perfecta toda esta historia en dónde el amor y las cosas de un evento traumático son parte de la vida de estos personajes. Primeramente, la dirección es perfecta, es sencilla porque la mayoría de las escenas ocurren en el pasillo de un avión y en la cabina de los pilotos, ocurre uno que otro flashback, siendo mi favorito, el del bar, pero las escenas tanto en el primer acto como el segundo ocurren en el avión y nunca dejo de comprarlo a las escenografías que ocurren en los sketches de algún show televisivo, claro con un mejor nivel porque hay escenas que funcionan muy bien, sumamente cómicas.

With the brief synopsis I shared in the previous paragraph, the story of this film could be one where drama, suspense, intrigue, action and love would be part of the genres that make it up, but the screenwriters and directors David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams decided to give all the weight to the comedy to tell in a perfect way all this story where love and the things of a traumatic event are part of the lives of these characters. First of all, the direction is perfect, it is simple because most of the scenes occur in the aisle of an airplane and in the cockpit of the pilots, there is a flashback or two, being my favorite the one in the bar, but the scenes in both the first and second act occur in the plane and I never stop buying it to the scenographies that occur in the sketches of a TV show, of course with a better level because there are scenes that work very well, extremely funny.

El guion es lo que más me ha sorprendido en esta revisión que hice del film; por supuesto existe dos protagonistas principales, pero no hay temor en dar protagonismo a otros personajes que entran en escena a falta de tan solo 40 minutos (o menos) antes que termine el film; por ejemplo los personajes interpretados por Lloyd Bridges, Robert Stack y el gran y mítico Leslie Nielsen hacen que el film levanté el nivel de una manera impresionante; ellos son un buen complemento para Julie Hagerty y Robert Hays quienes protagonizan el film, hace que el film no decaiga con tanta parodia a otros films y tenga algo propio, eso lo noté porque de hace un balance pleno, por ejemplo el personaje de Bridges, "Steve McCroskey", no sabe lidiar muy bien con la presión, pero está dispuesto a ayudar, el personaje "Captain Rex Kramer" el cual en mi opinión es el villano de la historia, es perfecto como tal y "Dr. Rumack", mi personaje favorito que es interpretado por Nielsen, es el mejor aliado que tiene "Striker"; son perfectos, son personajes correctos y son un gran acierto de los guionistas.

The script is what surprised me the most in this review I did of the film; of course there are two main protagonists, but there is no fear in giving prominence to other characters that enter the scene with only 40 minutes (or less) left before the end of the film; for example the characters played by Lloyd Bridges, Robert Stack_ and the great and mythical Leslie Nielsen_ make the film raise the level in an impressive way; They are a good complement to Julie Hagerty and Robert Hays who star in the film, it makes the film not to decline with so much parody to other films and has something of its own, I noticed that because it makes a full balance, for example the character of Bridges, "Steve McCroskey", does not know how to deal very well with the pressure, but he is willing to help, the character "Captain Rex Kramer" which in my opinion is the villain of the story, is perfect as such and "Dr. Rumack", my favorite character who is played by Nielsen, is the best ally that "Striker" has; they are perfect, they are correct characters and they are a great success of the scriptwriters.

Podrán o no preguntarse ¿Qué hace especial este film con respecto al tema del concurso de esta semana? Bueno, puedo decir que está película relata una serie de acontecimientos que nadie le gustaría vivir en el momento de viajar en avión, por ejemplo enfermarse mientras viajan por un largo tiempo, que los pilotos estén indispuestos, que haya una tormenta y que exista un desperfecto del avión, lo otro y más banal es no disfrutar la experiencia del viaje por molestos pasajeros y otras cosas más; todo eso que acabo de describir es parte seguramente de un acumulado de ideas de los tres directores y guionistas los cuales seguramente decidieron hacer una parodia de todo usando lo que nadie quiere experimentar al momento de volar, por eso para mí está película es perfecta para este concurso, es muy cómica, es divertida y a pesar de parodiar a algún que otro film, puedo decir que es original y por eso junto a "Top Secret!", y la franquicia de "The Naked Gun" es de las películas comicas que más me gustan de ver, son clásicos del cine y que siempre recomendaré de ver.

You may or may not be wondering what makes this film special with respect to the theme of this week's contest? Well, I can say that this film relates a series of events that no one would like to experience when traveling by plane, for example getting sick while traveling for a long time, the pilots being indisposed, a storm and a malfunction of the plane, the other and more banal thing is not enjoying the experience of the trip because of annoying passengers and other things; All that I have just described is surely part of an accumulation of ideas of the three directors and screenwriters who surely decided to make a parody of everything using what nobody wants to experience when flying, so for me this film is perfect for this contest, it is very funny, it is fun and despite parodying some other film, I can say that it is original and therefore along with "Top Secret! "and the franchise of "The Naked Gun" is one of the comedy movies that I like to watch the most, they are classics of cinema and I will always recommend to watch them.
