CineTV Contest: "Mayhem" [ESP/ENG]

Nuevo concurso en la comunidad de CineTV y para participar debemos realizar una publicación sobre algún film en dónde el trabajo sea el tema principal y recordando sobre qué película escribir y solo pensaba en dramas, historias motivadoras, de superación e historias donde hacer sin importar que, lo mejor era hacer un trabajo correcto; pero después de pensar mucho, recordé un film que es perfecto para el tema del concurso de esta semana y que lamentablemente termina hoy así que si quieren participar, les dejo el link para que vean las reglas a seguir Favorite Movie About Work.

Cómo dije al principio de esta publicación, películas sobre el trabajo siempre tendrá un tema en dónde se demuestre que tan comprometido o no se está en cumplir un rol en lo que es considerado como "Un lugar de trabajo" y eso me hizo pensar mucho porque hay muchas películas en donde de alguna u otra manera, el realizar un trabajo es la base de muchas historias, por ejemplo "Click" de Adam Sandler, la historia es motivada por el empleo exigente que le quita tiempo al protagonista con su esposa e hijos; otro film puede ser "Spotlight" en dónde está la disyuntiva entre hacer o no el trabajo correcto sin importar la presión del sistema y hasta pude escribir de "The Irishman" un hombre que siempre fue fiel a su trabajo sin importar las consecuencias; como ven son muchos ejemplos, pero después de pensar en esos films y otros más, decidí por un simple film, una película con una historia simple, pero a la vez desenfrenada, con mucha acción, comedia y horror que tiene un tema importante sobre el trabajo y es la competitividad que existe en muchos lugares para poder alcanzar lo más alto; justamente eso es lo que representa el film estrenado en 2017 y que recibe el nombre de "Mayhem"; en este film veremos la historia del joven abogado "Derek Cho" que trabaja para la firma "Towers and Smythe Consulting"; él ganó un caso en dónde una persona infectada por el virus "ID-7" cometió un asesinato; este virus hace que cada infectado pierda toda moral y por eso practique actos lascivos y violentos; eso es lo que justamente usa para la defensa de su cliente y lo que lo lleva a subir cada vez más de puesto en la firma de abogados dónde trabaja, pero esto es un mundo de tiburones en dónde nadie quiere perder su puesto y por eso a la mínima equivocación, quienes todavía están en lo más alto no perdonan a quienes quieran quitarles el puesto; eso crea el despido de Derek que al ser escoltado fuera del edificio donde trabaja, inmediatamente se activa un protocolo de cuarentena en todo ese lugar, ya que por las ventilaciones se ha propagado el virus ID-7 llamado también "Red Eye", esta situación creara una locura monumental en dónde Derek antes de salvar su trabajo, deberá sobrevivir al caos.

As I said at the beginning of this publication, movies about work will always have a theme where it shows how committed or not you are in fulfilling a role in what is considered "A workplace" and that made me think a lot because there are many films where in some way or another, doing a job is the basis of many stories, for example "Click" by Adam Sandler, the story is motivated by the demanding job that takes time away from the protagonist with his wife and children; another film could be "Spotlight" where there is the dilemma between doing or not doing the right job regardless of the pressure of the system and I could even write about "The Irishman" a man who was always faithful to his work regardless of the consequences; as you can see there are many examples, but after thinking about these films and others, I decided to choose a simple film, a film with a simple story, but at the same time unbridled, with lots of action, comedy and horror that has an important theme about work and is the competitiveness that exists in many places to reach the top; precisely that is what represents the film released in 2017 and that receives the name of "Mayhem "; in this film we will see the story of the young lawyer "Derek Cho" who works for the firm "Towers and Smythe Consulting"; he won a case where a person infected by the virus "ID-7" committed a murder; this virus makes each infected person lose all morals and therefore practice lewd and violent acts; This is precisely what he uses for the defense of his client and what leads him to climb higher and higher in the law firm where he works, but this is a world of sharks where no one wants to lose his position and that is why at the slightest mistake, those who are still at the top do not forgive those who want to take away their position; That creates the dismissal of Derek that when being escorted out of the building where he works, immediately activates a quarantine protocol throughout the place, since the ventilations have spread the ID-7 virus also called "Red Eye", this situation will create a monumental madness where Derek before saving his job, must survive the chaos.

El film es dirigido por Joe Lynch quien está ligado al género del terror, comedia y acción, ya que dirigió otras producciones como "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End", "Knights of Badassdom" y "Creepshow"; en esta oportunidad crea muy buenas escenas en dónde justamente tanto la acción, violencia son protagonistas, no digo que las glorifica, sino en una historia dónde un gran grupo de personas infectadas por un virus que los vuelve violentos, no hay que esperar escenas con diálogos largos y abrazos; a pesar de eso, el film no es grotesco, ni abusa de crear escenas gores, eso es un plus en esta historia. El guion es bueno, es simple, directo y más de dejar un mensaje reflexivo, es una demostración de como pude ser el ambiente laboral en algunos empleos; nadie es amigo de nadie, todo es competitivo y a la mínima oportunidad, te apuñalan por la espalda, literalmente; con esto creo que es donde predomina el humor del film y eso me pareció excelente.

The film is directed by Joe Lynch who is linked to the genre of horror, comedy and action, as he directed other productions such as "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End", "Knights of Badassdom" and "Creepshow"; in this opportunity he creates very good scenes where justly both action, violence are protagonists, I do not say that glorifies them, but in a story where a large group of people infected by a virus that makes them violent, do not expect scenes with long dialogues and hugs; despite that, the film is not grotesque, nor abuses to create gores scenes, that is a plus in this story. The script is good, it is simple, direct and more than leaving a reflective message, it is a demonstration of how the work environment can be in some jobs; no one is friends with anyone, everything is competitive and at the slightest opportunity, they stab you in the back, literally; with this I think this is where the humor of the film predominates and I thought it was excellent.

Las actuaciones de Steven Yeun y Samara Weaving, son muy buenas, recuerdo que al momento del estreno del film todavía estaba fresco en la memoria de los fans de "The Walking Dead" el personaje de "Glenn", así que fue excelente volver a ver a este actor en otra producción demostrando que puede hacer cualquier cosa y en esta historia vemos como interpreta a "Derek Cho" un abogado corrompido por el poder y que cree que pronto obtendrá un mejor puesto, pero su poca humildad lo convertirá primero en un enemigo y después en una víctima de la ambición de otros; con respecto a Samara, siempre he dicho que es la "Scream Queen" de los últimos años; sus diferentes roles en varias producciones la convierten en una actriz a considerar no solo en este género, sino en otros más; en esta película me gusta que represente a esos personajes que está de acuerdo con su puesto de trabajo, pero entiende de que en algún momento hay que decir basta y al momento de aparecer la infección, no desaprovecha la oportunidad de hacerse notar.

The performances of Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving, are very good, I remember that at the time of the premiere of the film was still fresh in the memory of the fans of "The Walking Dead" the character of "Glenn", so it was excellent to see again this actor in another production showing that he can do anything and in this story we see how he plays "Derek Cho" a lawyer corrupted by power and who believes he will soon get a better position, but his lack of humility will turn him first into an enemy and then into a victim of the ambition of others; Regarding Samara, I have always said that she is the "Scream Queen" of the last years; her different roles in several productions make her an actress to consider not only in this genre, but in others; in this movie I like her portrayal of those characters who agrees with her job, but understands that at some point you have to say enough is enough and when the infection appears, she does not miss the opportunity to be noticed.

Mayhem es un divertido film, es muy buen film; no trata de cambiar nada, no trata de ser original y ni siquiera intentar de ser una franquicia; es un film rápido, corto y creo que justamente eso lo hace divertido y es perfecto para el tema del que se basa el concurso de esta semana en CineTV; es un film en dónde el ambiente laboral es importante para disfrutar del trabajo, puede ser algo tranquilo o puede ser muy competitivo y si es así, entonces quienes quieren surgir o mantenerse deberán adaptarse a las situaciones para poder sobrevivir y eso pasa en este film que por supuesto todo puede ser opacado por las escenas de violencia y horror, pero no hay duda de que es un film basado más que nada en lo que nos puede transformar nuestros trabajos.

Mayhem is a fun film, it's a very good film; it doesn't try to change anything, it doesn't try to be original or even try to be a franchise; it's a quick, short film and I think that's what makes it fun and it's perfect for the theme of this week's CineTV contest; it is a film where the work environment is important to enjoy the job, it can be something quiet or it can be very competitive and if so, then those who want to emerge or stay will have to adapt to the situations in order to survive and that happens in this film that of course everything can be overshadowed by the scenes of violence and horror, but there is no doubt that it is a film based more than anything else on what can transform our jobs.
