Fast X - Movie Review [ES - EN]

Primeramente, antes de adentrarme en lo que será la reseña a este film, diré que no perderé tiempo explicando la evolución o cambio dentro de la franquicia de "Fast & Furious"; esta es la décima película y creo que las tres anteriores han demostrado que está historia es mucho más (para bien o para mal) de lo que fue ese primer film estrenado en el 2001; está película de acción, carros lujosos, personajes caricaturescos y momentos increíbles, está llegando a su fin y parece que el líder de esta producción, Vin Diesel está preparado para cerrarla a lo grande.

First of all, before I go into what will be the review of this film, I will not waste time explaining the evolution or change within the "Fast & Furious" franchise; this is the tenth film and I think the previous three have shown that this story is much more (for better or worse) than what was the first film released in 2001; this movie of action, fancy cars, cartoonish characters and incredible moments, is coming to an end and it seems that the leader of this production, Vin Diesel is ready to close it in a big way.

Así como he prometido que no vería otra película del MCU (promesa rota con GOTG VOL3) y de "Transformers", desde hace un buen tiempo decidí no ver ningún otro film en una sala de cine de la franquicia "Fast & Furious"; ahora eso no evita que quiera seguir viendo esta historia de "Toretto" y su grande familia y con el sorpresivo estreno en formato digital de este nuevo film, decidí inmediatamente verlo. En "Fast X" veremos qué "Dominic" está creando un lazo especial con su hijo "Brian", un lazo que demuestra el legado de la familia "Toretto"; estos son momentos de paz que llegarán rápidamente a su fin al aparecer una grave amenaza del pasado y es que lamentablemente, cada acción por muy buena que sea, podrá crear una violenta, loca reacción, una llena de venganza hacía toda la familia de Dom; es por eso que en esta oportunidad, cada uno de quienes ha compartido arriesgadas aventuras, ahora tendrá un blanco en su espalda y eso hará que en esta oportunidad el enemigo sea el peor que han enfrentado.

Just as I have promised I would not see another MCU movie (promise broken with GOTG VOL3) and "Transformers", for quite some time now I decided not to see any other film in a movie theater from the "Fast & Furious" franchise; now that doesn't stop me from wanting to continue watching this story of "Toretto" and his big family and with the surprise digital release of this new film, I immediately decided to watch it. In "Fast X " we will see that "Dominic" is creating a special bond with his son "Brian", a bond that demonstrates the legacy of the "Toretto" family; these are moments of peace that will quickly come to an end when a serious threat from the past appears and unfortunately, every action, no matter how good it is, can create a violent, crazy reaction, one full of revenge towards Dom's entire family; That is why this time, each of those who have shared risky adventures will now have a target on their back and that will make this time the enemy the worst they have ever faced.

Esta décima película fue dirigida por Louis Leterrier que ha dirigido varias películas de acción en el pasado y que en esta oportunidad fue el relevo del director Justin Lin quien había dirigido hasta cuatro películas de esa franquicia, pero por diferencias creativas decidió dar un paso al costado y por eso Leterrier terminó dirigiendo este film. Puedo decir que varias de las escenas de acción son correctas dentro lo que es está franquicia, quiero hacer referencia a la que más me ha gustado y es la secuencia en la ciudad de Roma, en dónde es muy entretenida de ver aunque no es perfecta y eso es debido por el uso de drones; en mi opinión fue molesto, no ayudo en nada a las diferentes tomas de las escenas porque son muy rápidas, fue una perdida de tiempo y se hace evidente que no cayó bien porque no se ven ninguna escena realizada por drones; con respecto a lo demás escenas como son las fantásticas o fantasiosas, estas no pueden faltar; hubo momentos en donde se me hace difícil disfrutarlas porque es evidente la necesidad de mostrar al personaje de Dom como un superhéroe y puedo enfocar mi crítica en ese tipo de escenas y convertirla en algo negativo hacia este film, pero repito, está es la décima película de la franquicia y creo que no sería adecuado criticar negativamente ese tipo de escenas porque creo que es una marca, es lo que define a "F&F".

La historia es muy extensa, creo que se pudo resumir alguna que otra parte de la historia, pero seguramente tanto Justin Lin, como Dan Mazeau (tercera vez como guionista) decidieron que sería lo mejor dar un desarrollo extenso a los muchos personajes que aparecen en este film; quiero dejar claro que el guion demuestra algo que no espero ver en la franquicia de "F&F" y eso es coherencia y sí, justamente en esta décima película se es coherente desde el momento en dónde se muestra el origen del villano de turno y es que después del cuarto film, todo cambió en esta franquicia y es por eso que en este nuevo film vemos cómo comienza a cerrarse ese círculo en dónde lo sucedido en los anteriores cuatro films, son lo que tiene más peso en el desarrollo de este primer film que vaticina la final; posiblemente sea uno de los puntos positivos de "Fast X".

This tenth film was directed by Louis Leterrier who has directed several action films in the past and this time was the relief of director Justin Lin who had directed up to four films in this franchise, but due to creative differences decided to step aside and therefore Leterrier ended up directing this film. I can say that several of the action scenes are correct within what is this franchise, I want to refer to the one that I liked the most and is the sequence in the city of Rome, where it is very entertaining to watch although it is not perfect and that is due to the use of drones; in my opinion it was annoying, it did not help at all to the different shots of the scenes because they are very fast, it was a waste of time and it is evident that it did not fall well because you do not see any scene made by drones; with respect to the other scenes such as the fantastic or fantasy scenes, these cannot be missing; there were moments where it was difficult for me to enjoy them because it is evident the need to show Dom's character as a superhero and I can focus my criticism on that kind of scenes and turn it into something negative towards this film, but I repeat, this is the tenth film of the franchise and I think it would not be appropriate to criticize negatively such scenes because I think it is a brand, it is what defines "F&F".

The story is very extensive, I think that some part of the story could have been summarized, but surely both Justin Lin, and Dan Mazeau (third time as screenwriter) decided that it would be best to give an extensive development to the many characters that appear in this film; I want to make clear that the script shows something that I do not expect to see in the "F&F" franchise and that is coherence and yes, precisely in this tenth film is coherent from the moment where the origin of the villain is shown and after the fourth film, everything changed in this franchise and that is why in this new film we see how it begins to close that circle where what happened in the previous four films, are what has more weight in the development of this first film that predicts the final; possibly one of the positive points of "Fast X".

No haré una referencia extendida con respecto a las actuaciones y es que la mayoría de estos actores demuestran la evidente comodidad al hacer su diferentes roles en esta historia; no hay cambios, no hay nada nuevo con respecto a los protagonistas de siempre y solo el personaje Interpretado por John Cena ofrece una actuación o interpretación de su personaje muy diferente a lo que fue en el anterior film; ahora haré referencia al MVP de esta película, al actor y personaje que atrajo toda la atención y que considero lo mejor de "FX", me refiero a Jason Momoa y su personaje "Dante Reyes"; en anterioridad he visto a muchos villanos copiar o verse muy influenciados por todo lo referente a lo que es "The Joker", pero algunas veces lo encuentro completamente exagerado y se nota más como una parodia en vez de una actuación; en esta oportunidad no está alejado de esas características porque la interpretación de Momoa como Dante, es exagerada, caricaturesca y si, posiblemente sea una parodia, en mi opinión es el "Anti-Dominic Toretto", usa cabello largo, no cree en la familia (a pesar de que sus motivos van ligados a eso), usa vestimenta de colores pasteles, es cruel, vil y sí, es un divertido personaje y para mí es el mejor villano de la franquicia, es un buen trabajo de Jason.

I will not make an extended reference with respect to the performances and most of these actors demonstrate the obvious comfort in doing their different roles in this story; there are no changes, there is nothing new with respect to the usual protagonists and only the character played by John Cena offers a performance or interpretation of his character very different from what he was in the previous film; now I will refer to the MVP of this movie, the actor and character that attracted all the attention and that I consider the best of "FX", I am referring to Jason Momoa and his character "Dante Reyes"; in the past I have seen many villains copy or be very influenced by everything related to "The Joker", but sometimes I find it completely exaggerated and it looks more like a parody rather than a performance; this time it is not far from those characteristics because the interpretation of Momoa as Dante, is exaggerated, caricatured and yes, possibly a parody, in my opinion he is the "Anti-Dominic Toretto", he wears long hair, doesn't believe in family (even though his motives are linked to that), wears pastel colored clothes, is cruel, vile and yes, he is a funny character and for me he is the best villain of the franchise, it is a good job by Jason.

Seguramente se preguntarán si Fast X me gustó o no y puedo decir que en partes si y en otras no y es que las buenas ya las he señalado, pero vuelvo a recapitular: primero la coherencia de usar elementos de anteriores films para cerrar por completo está historia, segundo la secuencia de acción en Roma (a pesar de los drones) y tercero, el personaje de Dante; todo eso es lo que me gustó de este film el cual se pudo sentir afectado por la necesidad de demostrar a Dominic como un superhéroe; estoy convencido de que eso afecta a varias escenas, en especial en el último acto de la historia y eso no me gustó; lo otro es la necesidad de introducir personajes como el de Brie Larson o el de Daniela Melchior, las cuales no tienen ni peso, ni importancia en la historia y justamente eso hace que sea más larga lo cual nos lleva al manejo en sí de lo que es la primera de dos o tres partes de como será el final de esta franquicia, creo que se pudo manejar un mejor final para ese film; a pesar de no ser muy fan de todo lo que representa "Fast & Furious" en sus últimos films, de igual manera esperaré a ver cómo será el final de esta historia y espero que con nuevos guionistas, puedan mejorar ciertas cosas y hacer nuevamente un film entretenido.

I'm sure you're wondering if I liked Fast X and I can say that in some parts I did and in others I didn't, and I've already pointed out the good ones, but I'll recapitulate again: first the coherence of using elements from previous films to close this story completely, second the action sequence in Rome (despite the drones) and third, the character of Dante; all that is what I liked about this film which could feel affected by the need to show Dominic as a superhero; I am convinced that this affects several scenes, especially in the last act of the story and I didn't like that; the other thing is the need to introduce characters like Brie Larson or Daniela Melchior, which have no weight or importance in the story and just that makes it longer which leads us to the handling itself of what is the first of two or three parts of how will be the end of this franchise, I think it could have handled a better ending for that film; even though I am not a big fan of everything that "Fast & Furious" represents in its latest films, I will still wait to see how the end of this story will be and I hope that with new screenwriters, they can improve certain things and make an entertaining film again.
