Justice League: Warworld - Movie Review [ES - EN]

Desde hace un tiempo, todas las producciones animadas de WB Animation y DC Entertainment, comenzaron un nuevo universo de películas que ahora es conocido como "Tomorrowverse"; esta nueva serie de películas no presenta una desarrollo completamente lineal en sus historias y creo que es para mostrar cierta independencia en los relatos enfocados en diferentes héroes; un gran ejemplo de lo que describo, es el no mostrar la formación de La Liga de la Justicia y justamente ese hecho fue lo que me tenía contrariado porque esperaba pronto de ver al grupo más famoso de héroes en acción y con este nuevo film, sexto en este nuevo universo, por fin se vería en acción a la Trinidad de héroes más importantes de DC Comics.

Since some time ago, all the animated productions of WB Animation and DC Entertainment, started a new universe of movies that is now known as "Tomorrowverse"; this new series of movies does not present a completely linear development in their stories and I think it is to show some independence in the stories focused on different heroes; a great example of what I am describing, is not showing the formation of the Justice League and that fact was precisely what had me upset because I was expecting soon to see the most famous group of heroes in action and with this new film, sixth in this new universe, we would finally see in action the Trinity of DC Comics' most important heroes.

Personalmente, me considero fan de las producciones animadas de WB y DC Comics, sean o no parte de un universo cinematográfico; me gustó mucho el desarrollo del anterior universo y todavía tengo fue de que el "Tomorrowverse" comience a ser tan bueno como el anterior, pero lamentablemente las últimas tres producciones (contando con esta) no las considero las mejores. Este nuevo film, el cual está protagonizado por Wonder Woman, Batman y Superman; nos revela que ha sucedido con estos tres héroes desde el final de la anterior película enfocada en "Legion of Super-Heroes" y "Supergirl", recordemos que este trío de héroes se adentran en una misión de la cual no revelan mucho, pero pareciera ser muy importante, pero para enfrentar lo que seguramente sea una gran amenaza, parece que primeramente deberán hacer frente a un poderoso enemigo que les ha puesto diferentes pruebas que cada uno deberá resolver por sí mismo para después poder juntos derrotar a un mundo de guerra.

Personally, I consider myself a fan of WB and DC Comics animated productions, whether or not they are part of a cinematic universe; I really liked the development of the previous universe and I still hope that the "Tomorrowverse" starts to be as good as the previous one, but unfortunately the last three productions (counting this one) are not considered the best. This new film, which stars Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman; reveals us what has happened with these three heroes since the end of the previous film focused on "Legion of Super-Heroes" and "Supergirl", remember that this trio of heroes go on a mission of which they do not reveal much, but it seems to be very important, but to face what is surely a great threat, it seems that first they must face a powerful enemy that has put them different tests that each one must solve by himself to then be able to defeat a world of war together.

Las anteriores dos películas del Tomorrowverse, no me parecieron las mejores, aunque sí me entretuvieron; posiblemente sea por enfocarse en personajes que tengan poco protagonismo y justamente que en este nuevo film sea liderado por tres importantes héroes, me creó expectativas porque estaba seguro de que existe la necesidad de tener a los mejores siempre al frente. Como dije en el primer párrafo de esta publicación, este universo se caracteriza por no enfocarse en eventos en dónde se demuestre el desarrollo de la formación de este importante grupo de héroes y mi teoría sobre eso es que estos films son para fans que no tienen la necesidad de explorar historias ya relatadas en varias oportunidades atrás; creo que esa característica es lo principal para este film en específico porque al principio de la historia de cada héroe, deberán estar por separado lidiando con diferentes pruebas en otras épocas o en otros mundos, enfrentado a villanos no tan habituales, pero sí poderosos.

Otro punto de vista en el desarrollo de las historias vistas en anteriores films es la dependencia de los héroes y en esta película no sería la excepción, nuevamente y a pesar de la aparición de otros personajes de DC Comics, al principio, cada prueba es independiente para cada héroe y eso significa que ver en acción a Wonder Woman, Batman y Superman, se debe esperar. De las tres pruebas que observamos en la película, la de Wonder Woman demuestra que el gran potencial de este personaje es impresionante cuando se tiene una buena historia de ella, funciona muy bien; eso también sucede con Batman, que es imposible conseguir una historia que no funcione; este personaje encaja en cualquier época o mundo, pero el que más me ha sorprendido es como se desarrolla la aventura de Superman, creo que si la historia se enfoca en ese momento de Clark/Superman, seguramente se hubiera hecho más interesante, ese toque noir, de suspenso, fue breve, pero muy bueno.

The previous two films of the Tomorrowverse, I did not find them the best, although I was entertained; possibly because they focus on characters that have little prominence and precisely that this new film is led by three important heroes, created me expectations because I was sure that there is a need to have the best always in front. As I said in the first paragraph of this publication, this universe is characterized by not focusing on events where the development of the formation of this important group of heroes is shown and my theory about that is that these films are for fans who do not have the need to explore stories already told several times before; I think that feature is the main thing for this specific film because at the beginning of the story of each hero, they must be separately dealing with different tests in other times or in other worlds, facing villains not so usual, but powerful.

Another point of view in the development of the stories seen in previous films is the dependence of the heroes and in this film would be no exception, again and despite the appearance of other DC Comics characters, at the beginning, each test is independent for each hero and that means that seeing Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman in action, should be expected. Of the three tests that we observe in the film, Wonder Woman's test shows that the great potential of this character is impressive when you have a good story about her, it works very well; that also happens with Batman, it is impossible to get a story that does not work; this character fits in any era or world, but the one that surprised me the most is how Superman's adventure is developed, I think if the story focuses on that Clark/Superman moment, surely it would have become more interesting, that noir touch, of suspense, it was brief, but very good.

Existe un elemento fundamental en "Tomorrowverse" y es el diseño de los personajes, específicamente la animación; cada vez que hago una reseña de estos films, señalo que el trazo de los personajes es lo que más me gusta de este universo, le da un toque antiguo, muy parecido a los visto en las viñetas de los comics y en esta película por supuesto que se usa ese diseño, pero existe una serie de cambios que me hicieron pensar del porqué de esa decisión; los personajes que aparecen en esta película, por lo menos sus protagonistas y secundarios con buena participación, ya habían aparecido en otros films, pero existe cambios en cada uno de ellos, cosas muy evidentes que justamente los mismos personajes no se dan cuenta de lo sucedido y eso me gustó porque existe naturalidad, no se pierde el tiempo con la pregunta de ¿Por qué nos vemos diferentes? O ¿Por qué nos sentimos diferentes? Incógnitas que si me hice como espectador, pero entendí que son necesarias por el futuro evento que deberán enfrentar estos héroes.

There is a fundamental element in "Tomorrowverse" and it is the design of the characters, specifically the animation; every time I do a review of these films, I point out that the stroke of the characters is what I like the most of this universe, it gives it an old touch, very similar to the ones seen in the comics and in this film of course that design is used, but there are a series of changes that made me think about the reason for that decision; the characters that appear in this film, at least its main characters and secondary characters with good participation, had already appeared in other films, but there are changes in each one of them, very evident things that precisely the characters themselves do not realize what happened and I liked that because there is naturalness, no time is wasted with the question of Why do we look different? Or why do we feel different? Questions that I did ask myself as a spectator, but I understood that they are necessary for the future event that these heroes will have to face.

Justice Legue: Warworld, es un film entretenido, pero no es el mejor y eso es debido a lo apresurado del final de su tercer acto; todo lo que transcurre antes del desenlace final, es entretenido y bien hecho, pero el final es mucha información y poco desarrollo de los villanos y eso afecta el desarrollo del film; sé (ahora) que está película es el origen de un importante evento en DC Comics, pero creo que al ser el primer film protagonizado por Wonder Woman, Batman y Superman, debió ser mejor y estoy convencido de que la decisión de no dar relevancia a ciertos hechos como la conexión entre estos héroes, haga que no haya disfrutado de las escenas finales de Justice Legue: Warworld. A pesar de lo antes descrito, si se es fan de las películas animadas de DC Comics, puede ver esta película porque, como dije en anterioridad, lo que sucede en esta historia es lo que da origen al film "Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths" que será estrenada el próximo año.

Justice Legue: Warworld, is an entertaining film, but it's not the best and that's due to the rushed ending of its third act; everything that happens before the final denouement, is entertaining and well done, but the ending is a lot of information and little development of the villains and that affects the development of the film; I know (now) that this film is the origin of an important event in DC Comics, but I think that being the first film starring Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman, it should have been better and I am convinced that the decision of not giving relevance to certain events such as the connection between these heroes, makes me not to have enjoyed the final scenes of Justice Legue: Warworld. Despite the above, if you are a fan of DC Comics animated movies, you can watch this movie because, as I said before, what happens in this story is what gives rise to the film "Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths" that will be released next year.
