Russian Doll (Season 2) - Series Review [ESP/ENG]
En el gran tiempo que veo series de TV, he notado que muchas veces estas producciones se quedan atrapadas en relatar siempre una misma historia en cada temporada, en cada episodio estrenado; podrá cambiar la situación a enfrentar en una temporada, podrá ser relatada la historia en menos episodios, pero al final sigue siendo más de lo mismo, se vuelve extremadamente repetitivas, pero de forma extraña siguen siendo entretenidas; ahora cuando descubrimos una serie que podrá tener presente algunas de las características antes dichas, pero su historia se siente diferente a lo antes visto (a pesar de no ser original) es donde puede aumentar la atención del público en general y convertirse en un éxito o hasta crear una fiel base de fans; esto ocurre con la serie de Netflix "Russian Doll" que después de una espera de tres años, por fin estreno la tan ansiada segunda temporada.
In the great time that I watch TV series, I have noticed that many times these productions get stuck in always telling the same story in each season, in each episode released; the situation to be faced may change in a season, the story may be told in fewer episodes, but in the end it is still more of the same, it becomes extremely repetitive, but strangely enough it is still entertaining; now when we discover a series that may have some of the characteristics mentioned above, but its story feels different from what we have seen before (despite not being original) is where it can increase the attention of the general public and become a success or even create a loyal fan base; this happens with the Netflix series "Russian Doll " that after a wait of three years, finally released the long awaited second season.

En febrero de este año decidí por fin ver esta serie de Netflix; en mi reseña escribí lo fascinado que soy por todo lo que tenga que ver con historias en dónde uno o varios personajes están atrapados en un loop dónde deben vivir el mismo día una y otra vez hasta encontrar una solución y salir de esta trampa en el tiempo; en esa publicación dije que al relatar está historia en ocho episodios era una gran idea porque se desarrolla mejor aunque nunca te dice por qué la relación de los personajes atrapados en el loop, pero si te da una resolución a todo lo que deben vivir desde el momento de una celebración hasta su muerte que es lo que reinicia ese mismo día; puede ser algo simple, pero los personajes, en principal "Nadia Vulvokov", hace que sea una historia sumamente entretenida y divertida.
In February of this year I finally decided to watch this Netflix series; in my review I wrote how fascinated I am by everything that has to do with stories where one or more characters are trapped in a loop where they must live the same day over and over again until they find a solution and get out of this trap in time; in that publication I said that telling this story in eight episodes was a great idea because it develops better although it never tells you why the relationship of the characters trapped in the loop, but it does give you a resolution to everything they must live from the moment of a celebration until their death which is what restarts that same day; it may be something simple, but the characters, mainly "Nadia Vulvokov", makes it a very entertaining and funny story.
Después de ver la primera temporada inmediatamente pensé que era extraño que no se hubiera realizado una tercera temporada, pero esta serie como algunas otras sufrió retraso en su producción a causa de la aparición de la pandemia y por eso se tuvo que esperar tanto para el estreno de la nueva temporada; primeramente me sorprendió de que no se repitiera todo lo referente a repetir una y otra vez un mismo día, eso me pareció lo mejor de los siete episodios que conforman la segunda temporada, lo otro es usar el tiempo que se esperó para el estreno de esta nueva tanda de episodios y es que en esta oportunidad, han pasado cuatro años de lo sucedido en la anterior temporada y estos personajes han aprendido a mejorar sus vidas aunque parece que nunca es suficiente porque siempre hay cosas que quedan sin resolver y justamente eso hace que está parte de la historia de "Nadia" y "Alan" deban enfrentar otro problema con el tiempo, pero de una diferente manera, una que les enseñará cuál es en parte lo que puede ser el origen de sus problemas y que justamente está relacionado con el origen de sus familias.
After watching the first season I immediately thought it was strange that a third season had not been made, but this series like some others suffered a delay in its production due to the appearance of the pandemic and that's why we had to wait so long for the premiere of the new season; First of all I was surprised that it was not repeated everything related to repeat over and over again the same day, that seemed to me the best of the seven episodes that make up the second season, the other thing is to use the time that was waited for the premiere of this new batch of episodes and is that in this opportunity, Four years have passed since what happened in the previous season and these characters have learned to improve their lives although it seems that it is never enough because there are always things that remain unresolved and precisely that makes this part of the story of "Nadia" and "Alan" must face another problem over time, but in a different way, one that will teach them what is in part what may be the origin of their problems and that is precisely related to the origin of their families.
En las últimas semanas, he visto series en dónde sus protagonistas no solo están unidos a estas producciones por sus actuaciones, sino también por la dirección y escritura del guion; pienso que esto es algo positivo porque cuando personas que son el rostro de un proyecto tiene parte del control puede hacer buenos trabajos y esta serie es un claro ejemplo de eso; Natasha Lyonne quien interpreta a "Nadia" hace otra vez un gran trabajo, aunque hay una evolución del personaje y pienso que es porque muestra vulnerabilidad y comprensión, una imagen que podemos ver en el episodio final de la primera temporada y que me gusta porque a pesar de que todavía mantiene el sarcasmo y una actitud fuerte, lo nuevo de este personaje la hace mejor, debo repetir que sin ella haciendo de este personaje, seguramente está historia no sirve para nada. Otro quien repite una breve, pero necesaria interpretación es Charlie Barnett como "Alan"; lamentablemente para su personaje se le ha hecho más difícil superar todo lo que vivió cuatro años atrás, su vida no ha cambiado mucho, aunque sigue contando con la amistad de Nadia, pero se mantiene estancado y eso lo hará a tomar decisiones que podrán traer mejores momentos a su vida; ambos personajes con una extraña unión y que son afectados por el tiempo parece que siempre deberán estar unidos para superar cualquier nueva situación.
In the last weeks, I have seen series where the main characters are not only linked to these productions for their performances, but also for the direction and script writing; I think this is a positive thing because when people who are the face of a project have part of the control they can do good jobs and this series is a clear example of that; Natasha Lyonne who plays "Nadia" does again a great job, although there is an evolution of the character and I think it is because she shows vulnerability and understanding, an image that we can see in the final episode of the first season and that I like because even though she still keeps the sarcasm and a strong attitude, the newness of this character makes her better, I must repeat that without her playing this character, surely this story is useless. Another one who repeats a brief, but necessary interpretation is Charlie Barnett as "Alan"; unfortunately for his character it has become more difficult for him to overcome everything he lived four years ago, his life has not changed much, although he still has Nadia's friendship, but he remains stagnant and that will make him to make decisions that can bring better moments to his life; both characters with a strange union and that are affected by time it seems that they should always be united to overcome any new situation.
He practicado el no ver trailer o ver solamente teaser de diferentes producciones para no crear muchas expectativas y sorprenderme al ver por completo una serie o película y en esta oportunidad fue la mejor decisión porque sin terminar de ver el primer episodio de la nueva temporada solo pensaba que lo que se habían propuesto para ser la situación principal para esta segunda parte era lo mejor porque no se repetiría lo ya hecho aunque el tiempo seguía siendo algo muy importante; aparte de esto pensaba que si tuviera la oportunidad de escribir una historia tal vez sería muy parecida a lo hecho en Russian Doll, pienso que tiene todo lo que me puede gustar en una historia y por eso la considero una de las mejores series de Netflix, no es complicada, pienso que sus creadores tienen un plan para relatar la historia de Nadia y Alan y cuando tomas en cuenta lo hecho en la primera temporada y en esta nueva, podemos ver cómo se cuidan de los detalles y hace que funcione, eso me parece genial porque a pesar de que puede esta segunda parte sentirse como un final, es importante decir que falta muchas cosas importantes para revelar y tal vez una temporada más sea necesaria y espero que Netflix pueda pronto dar luz verde a una continuación porque es una gran serie, tiene una gran protagonista, gran historia de ambos personajes principales, está muy bien escrita, dirigida y es muy divertida y debo decir que al tener cada episodio una duración de tan solo 30 minutos se hace fácil de ver así que si quieren ver una gran historia de personajes atrapados en el tiempo para descubrir cosas de ellos mismos, entonces vean esta gran serie.
I have practiced not to watch trailers or see only teaser of different productions in order not to create many expectations and surprise me when watching a series or movie and in this opportunity it was the best decision because without finishing watching the first episode of the new season I only thought that what they had proposed to be the main situation for this second part was the best because it would not repeat what had already been done although the time was still something very important; apart from this I thought that if I had the opportunity to write a story maybe it would be very similar to what was done in Russian Doll, I think it has everything I can like in a story and that's why I consider it one of the best Netflix series, it's not complicated, I think its creators have a plan to tell the story of Nadia and Alan and when you take into account what was done in the first season and in this new one, we can see how they take care of the details and it makes it work, that seems great to me because even though it can this second part feel like a finale, it is important to say that there is a lot of important things left to reveal and maybe one more season is needed and I hope Netflix can soon green light a continuation because it is a great series, it has a great main character, great story of both main characters, it is very well written, directed and very funny and I must say that having each episode only 30 minutes long makes it easy to watch so if you want to see a great story of characters trapped in time to discover things about themselves, then watch this great series.

I absolutely love Russian Doll! I saw the first season back in 2020 and before then I didn’t know what the story was about or anything like that. In the end, I was really impressed. I think this series is underrated. I really love time loop movies. I like how the can recreate similar scenarios in different scenes. I really loved season one but for some reason I haven’t seen the second season. I’ll make sure to watch it once I’m done with stranger things.
Oh and Alan’s looking sharp with his mustache :)
The second season is very good, great complement to what was seen in the first season and that's because of things that maybe were small in the story of the first part, now are very important.
Alan has short time, but he is a great character, it was strange that he will not wear a mustache in the previous story and I think this time that is fixed.
Ahora que ya estrenaron la nueva temporada debo ponerme al día y verla. Me la han recomendado muchas veces pero siempre se me olvida jajaja así me pasa con muchas series, es cuando ya estan algo avanzadas que comienzo a devorar los episodios en maratón
Yo aprovecho la oportunidad y las veo de golpe y me sirve de que sean temporadas cortas con episodios de tan solo 30 minutos.
Ojala tengas tiempo para ver esta serie, no quise revelar tanto y se me hizo un poco difícil de reseñar, pero ambas temporadas son muy buenas.
Lo que me gustó de esta serie es que fue bastante original y diferente a lo que uno generalmente se consigue. Las historias dónde el tiempo no se comporta de manera normal me fascinan, y está estuvo buena pero también lejos de ser mi favorita dentro de ese subgénero. Había veces que las conversaciones banales que abundaban en la primera temporada me aburrían, pero a pesar de eso la serie tuvo sus momentos memorables y fue muy disfrutable.
Yo lo disfruté toda la serie la primera y segunda temporada, por ejemplo, la actitud o la forma de ser de Nadia no era para nada humilde, usaba a todos y no le importaba nada y de esas conversaciones banales se obtiene un tema que desencadena todo esté nuevo problema que debe solucionar y tengo la teoría de que eso será lo que cierre está historia en una tercera temporada.

I remember watching Russian Doll in 2020 and being addicted to such a short and simple series. Like you said, movies and series are usually alike as the stories habe been told over and over again, but it is the uniqueness in which the story is portrayed that makes it worth seeing. I didn't know that there was a second season because I quickly forgot about this series but I'll surely check it out.
I think that's the negative of this series, the time between the two seasons.
As I say in the review, I watched the first one a few months ago and that's why I remembered many things that helped me to understand part of this new season, at least what triggers this story.
The easy thing is that each episode is short so if you want you can watch the first one again and then this new one.
