Este film presenta diferentes elementos como Coming of Age, Slasher y lo Sobrenatural; cada uno de estos subgéneros presenta un buen balance a pesar de tener una duración de 93 minutos, justamente eso la hace una historia breve, directa, en dónde no se pierde tiempo en relatando una historia que es fácil de entender. Este film tiene una característica importante y es que a pesar de la aparición de un ente infernal, un monstruo que va asesinando a todo lo que encuentra en su camino, el terror está presente en diferentes situaciones que exponen un tema que nunca pierde relevancia y que es la verdadera base de la historia, me refiero a la lucha de generaciones, a la imposición del poder de un grupo de adultos hacia adolescentes para que sean estos quienes luchen las batallas de otros sin importar las consecuencias; aparte de lo antes descrito, me gustaron las escenas de las muertes, la mayoría son gráficas, hay buen uso del gore, son muy bien producidas y junto al diseño de la criatura, se nota que había una necesidad de cubrir los elementos anteriormente citados; mi única crítica es sobre las actuaciones las cuales son muy regulares, todas sobreactuadas, no hay ningún actor que destaque y eso pudo afectar más que nada el acto final, que pudo ser más impactante. "Dark Harvest" no es un mal film, me gustó el relato de la historia en dónde el terror no solamente proviene de una terrorífica criatura, hay cosas que son reales y pueden causar más terror y justamente es eso lo que aprecio de este film.

This film has an important characteristic and that is that despite the appearance of an infernal entity, a monster that kills everything in its path, the terror is present in different situations that expose a theme that never loses relevance and that is the true basis of the story, I mean the struggle of generations, the imposition of power from a group of adults to adolescents so that they are the ones who fight the battles of others regardless of the consequences; apart from the above described, I liked the death scenes, most of them are graphic, there is a good use of gore, they are very well produced and together with the design of the creature, you can see that there was a need to cover the above mentioned elements; my only criticism is about the performances which are very regular, all overacted, there is no actor that stands out and that could affect more than anything the final act, which could have been more shocking. "Dark Harvest" is not a bad film, I liked the story telling where the terror does not only come from a terrifying creature, there are things that are real and can cause more terror and that is exactly what I appreciate about this film.

"The Conference" o "Konferensen", es un film original de Netflix, un slasher sueco con elementos de comedia que relata la historia de un grupo de empleados municipal que deciden reunirse para practicar actividades recreativas para fomentar el trabajo en equipo, ya que pronto se comenzará una maniobra comercial que hará evolucionar a su pequeño poblado; cabe destacar que este grupo de personas está muy lejos de ser conocido como un excelente grupo laboral, porque existe ciertos rumores de corrupción en personas que reciben cierto favoritismo, pero esa disyuntiva tendrá que ser dejada de lado cuando la aparición de un despiadado asesino comience a cazarlos uno por uno.

Este fue en gran parte un divertido film, es un salsher puro y eso lo aprecio; los asesinatos van de menor o más y me refiero a la intensidad del asesino que se nota que cada uno de sus ataques tiene un motivo pasional, todos premeditado, todos con ganas de hacer daño y llenos de odio y eso hace al asesino muy humano, que existe un intenso motivo para querer castigar a todas esas personas las cuales al ver el film puedes pensar si valen la pena o no de sobrevivir; esto es algo completamente loco y divertido a la vez porque varios de los protagonistas o futuras víctimas, son molestos, no son buenas personas y eso crea el debate de a quien apoyar, si al asesino o a las víctimas. Las escenas de las muertes son gráficas, son buenas, presenta mucha influencia en films Slashers de los 80', el diseño y lo referente al asesino es correcto, no es perfecto, no es sobrenatural y eso me gustó, lo extraño de este film es con respecto a que considero que no existe la típica "Final Girl", pero eso no evita que quiénes luchan por sobrevivir realicen un buen trabajo y con esto me refiero a las actuaciones las cuales son muy buenas, encajan bien en diferentes clichés, son divertidas y cumplen muy bien con el rol impuesto en la historia; ojalá tuviera un enfrentamiento final y un mejor cierre para considerarla como excelente; disfrute viendo esta película.

This was in great part a fun film, it is a pure salsher and I appreciate that; the murders go from minor or more and I mean the intensity of the killer that you can see that each of his attacks has a passionate motive, all premeditated, all with the desire to hurt and full of hate and that makes the killer very human, that there is an intense motive to want to punish all those people who when watching the film you can think if they are worth surviving or not; this is something completely crazy and funny at the same time because several of the protagonists or future victims, are annoying, they are not good people and that creates the debate of who to support, if the murderer or the victims. The death scenes are graphic, they are good, it presents a lot of influence in Slashers films of the 80's, the design and the killer is correct, it is not perfect, it is not supernatural and I liked that, the strange thing about this film is that I consider that there is no typical "Final Girl", but that does not prevent those who fight to survive to do a good job and with this I mean the performances which are very good, fit well in different clichés, are fun and fulfill very well with the role imposed in the story; I wish it had a final confrontation and a better closing to consider it as excellent; I enjoyed watching this movie.

Aparte de ser dos películas estrenadas en diferentes servicios de streaming, existe otra casualidad y es que ambas películas están basadas en libros del mismo nombre; posiblemente sea difícil ver alguna secuela de estas producciones, pero creo que existe cierta posibilidad, en especial de "The Conference" la cual fue la que más me gustó.

Apart from being two movies released on different streaming services, there is another coincidence and that is that both movies are based on books of the same name; it may be difficult to see any sequel to these productions, but I think there is some possibility, especially of "The Conference" which was the one I liked the most.
