"The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet's Function" | It: Welcome to Derry - Episode Review [ES - EN]

Después del estreno del criticado tercer episodio de "It: Welcome to Derry", creo que muchos decidieron bajar las expectativas con lo que resta de temporada; algo que considero correcto porque al faltar más episodios por estrenar y en donde todavía el principal protagonista no ha hecho presencia, es normal que se use uno y posiblemente más episodios para fundar las bases, no solamente sobre el terror que deberán padecer los otros personajes, sino sus esperanzas en enfrentarlo.

After the premiere of the critically panned third episode of "It: Welcome to Derry," I think many decided to lower their expectations for the rest of the season. which I think is the right thing to do because, with more episodes yet to be released and the main character still absent, it's normal to use one or possibly more episodes to lay the groundwork, not only for the terror that the other characters will have to endure, but also for their hopes in facing it.

"The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet's Function", es el largo título del cuarto episodio en dónde cada vez más se hace evidente el regreso de la expresión más terrorífica de "It"; es un episodio revelador para los personajes con respecto a lo que deberán enfrentar en los próximos episodios, revelador con la imagen cada vez más clara del payaso y revelador por como nuevamente en esta franquicia se relata de una mejor manera (según los fieles fans) la llegada del ente maligno. Personalmente, no soy fan de este tipo de episodios los cuales considero de relleno, pero entiendo la relevancia para el relato de esta historia y en dónde según fieles fans de la novela, se arregla el relato sobre la llegada y el primer encuentro entre It con los humanos, posiblemente este episodio se realizó pensando en mejorar la narración de como fue evolucionando It en el tiempo lo cual tendrá un mejor desarrollo cuando se estrenen tanto la segunda como tercera y última temporada.

"The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet's Function" is the long title of the fourth episode, in which the return of the most terrifying expression of "It" becomes increasingly evident. Personally, I am not a fan of these types of episodes, which I consider to be filler, but I understand their relevance to the story and, according to loyal fans of the novel, they set the stage for the arrival and first encounter between It and humans. This episode was possibly made with the intention of improving the narrative of how It evolved over time, which will be better developed when the second and third and final seasons are released.

El anterior episodio en dónde el protagonismo se enfocó en los personajes adultos en la primera mitad del episodio y que después finalizó con el muy criticado clímax enfocado en los personajes infantiles, en mi opinión la base del relato se basó en la curiosidad y sus consecuencias; en este episodio nuevamente usa esa relación en dar mayor protagonismo a los adultos, pero relevancia a los niños que nuevamente lideran las escenas de terror, aunque la significativa diferencia es sobre el tema base del episodio el cual opino que es en parte sobre el sesgo racial y es debido a que mayoritariamente, el episodio está liderado por los personajes afroamericanos. El tema racial no es nada ajeno a lo que es la historia de "It", así como cualquier uso del Bullying o ataque a personas, recordemos que Derry es un lugar en donde su belleza esconde una gran maldad que influye a todos en el pueblo y me pareció un gran acierto el que la serie ponga los cimientos de actos de injusticia que alimenten de maldad a todos, lo cual le da relevancia a todos los personajes y no queden como simple relleno de la historia.

The previous episode focused on the adult characters in the first half and ended with the much-criticized climax centered on the child characters. A pesar de lo breve de las escenas, las manifestaciones del Payaso Saltarín y su poder es lo que más me ha gustado del episodio; el terror que influye en los personajes usando imágenes impactantes o siendo una simple sombra o el uso del emblema del globo rojo es suficiente para generar impacto; cada una de esas características destacan claramente con la ayuda de los actores que protagonizaron esas escenas en especial Chris Chalk como "Dick Hallorann" y Clara Stack como "Lilly", ya que nuevamente se nota que ambos personajes deberán tener mucha relevancia en la temporada, en especial "Lilly" a quien me atrevo a decir que se está convirtiendo o preparando para ser una buena "Final Girl" aunque ese término no es el correcto para la historia de King, pero creo que deberá tener gran relevancia (espero) en los episodios finales. Mención aparte para el uso de los personajes de "Charlotte Hanlon", quien tiene protagonismo en el episodio, aunque es un factor más para lo que seguramente sea uno de los malos acontecimientos en Derry.

Este fue un correcto episodio, con las escenas de terror necesarias, con el protagonismo a personajes secundarios y con lo que más me ha gustado que fue el anuncio de la inminente aparición de Pennywise y la manifestación de It desde su llegada a este mundo, justamente es eso lo que fundamenta tanto la liberación de su poder así como la esperanza para detenerlo, lo cual es un factor relevante en este tipo de historias en dónde no solamente se desarrolla el poder de la maldad, sino la lucha de las víctimas en su necesidad de sobrevivir. Cómo dije anteriormente no soy muy fan de este tipo de episodios que tiene la sensación de no pasar nada y lo que lo hace relevante es una porción corta que se puede relatar en menos de una hora, pero es evidente que está producción están obligados a dar protagonismo a muchos de sus personajes y cada quien tendrá su historia que contar. Creo que los dos últimos episodios son la pausa necesaria para el caos que seguramente ofrecerá la historia en el futuro y justamente esa es la expectativa que tendré hasta el final de temporada.

I think the last two episodes are a necessary pause before the chaos that the story will surely offer in the future, and that is precisely what I will be expecting until the end of the season.
