The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special - Review [ESP|ENG]
Desde finales de noviembre en adelante, cada cadena televisiva y de streaming estrenará un sin número de producciones navideñas; sin querer ser un tipo de "Grinch", no soy de ver películas, especiales de TV basadas en navidad, aunque si he visto varias más que nada cuando era niño y de las cuales tengo tiempo que no he vuelto a ver, y posiblemente me motive a verlas y escribir sobre estas buenas historias; ahora no podía pasar la oportunidad de realizar una reseña sobre el segundo especial producido por Marvel Studios en este año, distribuido por Disneyplus y que por fin hace que el MCU haga presencia en una de mis festividades favoritas, la Navidad.
From the end of November onwards, every TV and streaming network will premiere a number of Christmas productions; without wanting to be a kind of "Grinch", I'm not one to watch movies, TV specials based on Christmas, although I have seen several when I was a kid and I haven't seen them for a long time, and possibly I will be motivated to watch them and write about these good stories; now I couldn't pass the opportunity to review the second special produced by Marvel Studios this year, distributed by Disneyplus and that finally makes the MCU make presence in one of my favorite holidays, Christmas.
El pasado mes de octubre, Marvel Studios hizo presencia en Halloween con el estreno del especial "Werewolf by Night" en Disneyplus; una producción de menos de una hora de duración la cual relató una historia divertida, corta y directa sobre monstruos; en mi opinión tuvo una recepción regular, ya que en mi opinión no creó un gran impacto en los fans del MCU, pero eso no evitaría de que para estas últimas semanas del año en dónde celebramos la navidad, tanto Disney como Marvel no perderían la oportunidad de hacer otro especial más aunque esta vez la historia está protagonizada por un grupo de héroes que son de primera línea en el MCU cómo son "The Guardians of the Galaxy".
Last October, Marvel Studios made its presence felt on Halloween with the premiere of the special "Werewolf by Night" on Disneyplus; a less than an hour long production which told a fun, short and straightforward story about monsters; in my opinion it had a regular reception, since in my opinion it did not create a great impact on the MCU fans, but that would not prevent that for these last weeks of the year where we celebrate Christmas, both Disney and Marvel would not miss the opportunity to make another special but this time the story is starred by a group of heroes who are first line in the MCU how are "The Guardians of the Galaxy".
Este episodio fue dirigido y escrito por James Gunn que como todos sabemos dirigió las tres películas de estos héroes de dónde pasaron de ser un grupo de inadaptados a ser una gran familia y justamente eso es lo que se explora en esta historia que es una continuación directa de los sucesos de "Endgame". No es un secreto de que lo visto en este corto episodio de estos héroes, más el tercer film que posiblemente cierre la participación de los Guardianes (formación original) en el MCU y creo que eso habilitó a Gunn de hacer algo "desenfrenado" para una producción de Marvel y Disney; en mi opinión creo que este episodio tiene más relación con producciones como "The Suicide Squad" (2021) y "Pacemaker" de lo que fue las dos películas basadas en los Guardianes y me refiero al humor el cual por momentos me hizo pensar que estaba viendo una parodia de estos personajes; está opinión no es para nada una crítica porque me gustó, me hizo reír a pesar de que hay momentos sumamente exagerados. La historia es típica de Navidad, la influencia de esta festividad para hacer mejor a cada quién, de aprovechar la oportunidad de ser mejores y expresar nuestros buenos sentimientos a familiares y amigos; de esa base comienza una historia que junto a comedia y algo de acción hace que disfrutemos de algo bastante directo.
This episode was directed and written by James Gunn who as we all know directed the three films of these heroes from where they went from being a group of misfits to being one big family and just that is what is explored in this story which is a direct continuation of the events of "Endgame". It's no secret that what was seen in this short episode of these heroes, plus the third film that possibly closes the participation of the Guardians (original lineup) in the MCU and I think that enabled Gunn to do something "unbridled" for a Marvel and Disney production; in my opinion I think this episode has more relation with productions like "The Suicide Squad" (2021) and "Pacemaker" than the two movies based on the Guardians and I refer to the humor which at times made me think I was watching a parody of these characters; this opinion is not at all a criticism because I liked it, it made me laugh even though there are extremely exaggerated moments. The story is typical of Christmas, the influence of this holiday to make everyone better, to take the opportunity to be better and express our good feelings to family and friends; from that basis begins a story that along with comedy and some action makes us enjoy something quite direct.
La decisión de usar a "Drax" y "Mantis" para protagonizar está historia es una gran decisión por parte de Gunn; los actores Dave Bautista y Pom Klementieff hacen un gran trabajo, "Drax" se ha transformado en uno de los mejores personajes que he visto en el MCU y es una verdadera estrella en este episodio; por parte de "Mantis" que tiene un gran peso en la historia, me gustó que ella sea quien acompañe a Drax en la misión de buscar el regalo perfecto; es divertida, muy heroica y fuerte, todo lo contrario de lo que fue el personaje en la segunda película de los Guardianes y que seguro se verá mejor en el tercer film.
The decision to use "Drax" and "Mantis" to star in this story is a great decision by Gunn; the actors Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff do a great job, "Drax" has become one of the best characters I've seen in the MCU and is a real star in this episode; on the part of "Mantis" who has a great weight in the story, I liked that she is the one who accompanies Drax in the mission to find the perfect gift; she is funny, very heroic and strong, the opposite of what the character was in the second Guardians movie and that for sure will look better in the third film.
Así como sucedió con "Werewolf by Night" la cual nombre como la mejor producción del MCU en este año (todavía no veo "Wakanda Forever"), puedo decir que el especial navideño del MCU protagonizado por "The Guardians of the Galaxy" es mejor que el especial de Halloween y por supuesto mejor que películas de la fase 4; me pareció genial porque es la historia perfecta para Navidad, tiene nostalgia, tiene el tema de enseñar el significado de la Navidad, muestra el efecto de la Navidad a personas que no cree en esa festividad, el regreso de la ilusión, mensaje de unión familiar y por supuesto, canciones navideñas, en especial la primera canción interpretada por la banda de alienígenas de Knowhere "Old 97's", la mejor. Recomiendo este episodio, es perfecto para navidad (como ya lo dije) y si les gusta el estilo de este director, estoy seguro de que disfrutarán de este especial, aunque sea una versión suave, pero con las actuaciones de Batista y Pom Klementieff, el uso del CGI, canciones y otras sorpresas seguramente la disfrutaran.
Just as it happened with "Werewolf by Night" which I named as the best MCU production this year (I still haven't seen "Wakanda Forever"), I can say that the MCU Christmas special starring "The Guardians of the Galaxy" is better than the Halloween special and of course better than phase 4 movies; I thought it was great because it is the perfect story for Christmas, it has nostalgia, it has the theme of teaching the meaning of Christmas, it shows the effect of Christmas to people who do not believe in that holiday, the return of illusion, message of family togetherness and of course, Christmas songs, especially the first song performed by the alien band from Knowhere "Old 97's", the best. I recommend this episode, it's perfect for Christmas (as I already said) and if you like this director's style, I'm sure you will enjoy this special, even if it's a soft version, but with the performances of Batista and Pom Klementieff, the use of CGI, songs and other surprises you will surely enjoy it.

No he visto este especial navideño, lo que si vi fue el tráiler de la próxima película y que será el cierre de esta etapa de los guardianes de la galaxia y la ultima que haga Gunn. Con estos personajes si me gusta que se use el humor y aunque la mejor película sigue siendo la primera, espero que la tercera sea entretenida y culmine por todo lo alto. Apenas tenga oportunidad me veo este especial de navidad
Es buen especial, en mi opinión tiene lo necesario o lo que se espera de una historia de navidad; me gustó que no se pierda tiempo en cosas y que sea directa y así como lamente de que el especial de Halloween fue corto, igual me sucedió con esta.
Yo ví el tráiler después de ver el especial y tengo fe de que en esta oportunidad se haga un mejor trabajo como el primer film de los Guardianes.
I love James Gunn's work with all the installments of Guardians of the galaxy, I am not surprised the Christmas special turned out well and I hope I get to see it soon because I was scared at first that I maybe disappointed like I was with 'Werewolf by Night'. I liked Werewolf by Night, possibly some decisions with the werewolf design is what I liked the least, but the story and the production itself I thought was very good.
This Christmas special is very good, everything that references this holiday from Gunn's point of view; that makes it better because it's not so much something closely tied to the MCU even though the main characters are Marvel characters, but it's very Gunn.

I hope it happens to you as it did to me; I think that being a quick, short, direct story, without many complications is what makes it very entertaining and even more so when we see famous characters.

Despite being an exaggerated scene, when the abduction occurs I found it amusing, I think that all that "mission"
