X - Film Review [ESP/ENG]

Siempre he dicho que el género slasher puede ser un tipo de films que cualquier cineasta pude hacer, sea para tratar de justamente hacer algo nuevo, sencillo, divertido y directo, ahora con esto no digo que todo slasher funcione porque hay muchos casos en dónde varias de estas películas son muy malas y hay otras que crean un impacto en fans que terminan siendo consideradas como clásicos dentro de las películas de terror; es por eso que mantener las reglas tanto para morir como de sobrevivir en estas historias es base para el éxito, para el reconocimiento de antiguos y nuevos fans.

I have always said that the slasher genre can be a type of film that any filmmaker can make, whether to try to do something new, simple, fun and direct, now with this I do not say that all slasher films work because there are many cases where several of these films are very bad and there are others that create an impact on fans that end up being considered as classics in horror films; that is why keeping the rules both to die and to survive in these stories is the basis for success, for the recognition of old and new fans.
En "X" la historia se desarrolla en 1979, en la zona rural de Texas; tres mujeres junto a tres hombres están decididos de alcanzar la fama al querer ser Estrellas de Cine, pero no del tipo de películas al alcance de todos, sino del género porno; una historia sensacional, actores profesionales, un director visionario, todo perfecto para alcanzar el ansiado estrellato, pero lo que no sabrán este grupo de jóvenes mujeres y hombres es que mientras filman estas escenas candentes, un deseo se va despertando y buscará satisfacerse con sangre.
In "X" the story takes place in 1979, in rural Texas; three women and three men are determined to achieve fame by wanting to be movie stars, but not the kind of movies available to everyone, but the porn genre; a sensational story, professional actors, a visionary director, all perfect to achieve the desired stardom, but what this group of young women and men do not know is that while filming these hot scenes, a desire is awakening and will seek to be satisfied with blood.
En los últimos años, más que nada en los últimos estrenos cinematográficos que son slashers, algunas de sus historias no buscan mostrar algo diferente, sino relevante, que haga que el film sea notorio, que pueda conectar o hasta crear algún tipo de debate en este tipo de historias; yo creo que algunas veces pareciera que se esfuerzan demasiado y posiblemente dejan atrás algo tan importante como es la diversión que existe en este tipo de films. En el guion escrito por Ti West nos muestra una historia que posiblemente haga considerar a este proyecto como un "Meta Film" porque se hace referencia a lo que justamente se busca realizar en este gran género dentro del terror lo cual es ser diferente o único; aparte de eso me gusta que West juegue homenajes y referencia a clásicos slashers, pero a la vez con la creación de una historia propia en dónde demuestra la lucha entre lo puritano y el libertinaje, algo muy ligado a este tipo de films porque es considerado una regla principal tanto para morir como para sobrevivir; es por eso que a pesar de no ser algo original, este guionista y director puede crear algo notorio que en lo personal encontré fresco, nuevo en un slasher.
El único trabajo que he visto de Ti West es un episodio que dirigió en la primera temporada de la serie "Tales From The Loop": este es la primera vez que veo un film bajo su dirección y me sorprendió mucho su trabajo, me gusta que se tome el tiempo en mostrar excelentes tomas de los exteriores y nos da esa perspectiva de cambio que tiene los personajes principales que pasan de una zona industrial, muy poblada a un campo alejado de cualquiera civilización; justamente esto me gusta de algunos films de este tipo porque saca a los personajes de su zona de confort para que muestren vulnerabilidad convirtiéndose en las víctimas perfectas y así tener escenas ideales en sus gráficos finales.
In recent years, more than anything in recent film releases that are slashers, some of their stories do not seek to show something different, but relevant, that makes the film is notorious, that can connect or even create some kind of debate in this type of stories; I think sometimes it seems that sometimes they try too hard and possibly leave behind something as important as the fun that exists in this type of films. In the script written by Ti West shows us a story that possibly makes us consider this project as a "Meta Film" because it makes reference to what they are looking for in this great horror genre which is to be different or unique; apart from that I like that West plays homages and references to classic slashers, but at the same time with the creation of his own story where he shows the struggle between puritanism and debauchery, something very linked to this kind of films because it is considered a main rule both to die and to survive; that is why despite of not being something original, this writer and director can create something notorious that I personally found fresh, new in a slasher.
The only work I have seen from Ti West is an episode he directed in the first season of the series "Tales From The Loop": this is the first time I've seen a film under her direction and I was very surprised by her work, I like that she takes the time to show excellent shots of the exteriors and gives us that perspective of change that has the main characters going from an industrial area, very populated to a field away from any civilization; just this I like some films of this type because it takes the characters out of their comfort zone to show vulnerability becoming the perfect victims and thus have ideal scenes in their final graphics.
Siempre he dicho que los personajes en estos films solo sirven para ser víctimas y nada más, su importancia está en cómo son sus muertes y es eso lo que debemos tomar en cuenta para tener una crítica sobre una simple actuación y a pesar de que en este film no hace que cambie esa apreciación, creo que lo destacable está en la importancia de cada uno en el desarrollo de la historia e importancia en el motivo del porqué suceden los asesinatos, esto es un punto positivo generado por el guion y la dirección de West, pero es que cada actor cumple con el cometido de ser importante en esta historia a pesar de lo predecible de su fin. Cada personaje está muy ligado a lo que es el deseo sexual, la libertad y uso de la sexualidad, no tienen restricciones sentimentales y solamente piensan en saciar un deseo carnal y esto es un motivo relevante para cada uno pueda realizar cualquier cosa, esto no es nuevo en este tipo de films en dónde para completar una regla o u cliché, siempre debe existir esos personajes liberales, sexuales que en su mayoría de veces mueren juntos, también está el asunto de lo puritano porque recordemos que la mayoría de veces, ser casto o virgen puede significar la salvación, pero al estar en una historia en dónde se está filmando un porno, creo que para quien sea débil o sienta deseo le será difícil no ser parte de ese mundo y así convertirse en una víctima más, con esto señaló lo importante del guion y la interpretación de cada actor lo cual no es repetitivo ni copia porque sin importar que defiendan una idea, cada quien la vive de forma diferente.
I have always said that the characters in these films only serve to be victims and nothing more, their importance is in how they are their deaths and that is what we must take into account to have a criticism on a simple performance and although in this film does not change that assessment, I think that what stands out is in the importance of each one in the development of the story and importance in the reason why the murders happen, this is a positive point generated by the script and the direction of West, but is that each actor fulfills the task of being important in this story despite the predictability of its end. Each character is very linked to what is sexual desire, freedom and use of sexuality, they have no sentimental restrictions and only think of satisfying a carnal desire and this is a relevant reason for each one to do anything, this is not new in this type of films where to complete a rule or cliché, there must always be those liberal, sexual characters that mostly die together, there is also the issue of puritanism because remember that most of the time, being chaste or virgin can mean salvation, but being in a story where a porn is being filmed, I think that for those who are weak or feel desire it will be difficult not to be part of that world and thus become another victim, this pointed out the importance of the script and the interpretation of each actor which is not repetitive or copy because regardless of defending an idea, each one lives it differently.
X es un muy buen film, no busca ser diferente o ser algo nunca visto dentro de este género, pero si hay algo que se destaca sobre otras historias y eso es desarrollar el motivo, darle una verdadera relevancia y no ser algo banal y simple como algunas veces sucede en otros films, justamente eso es lo que más me ha gustado porque demuestra que este es un film planeado e inteligente y con esto no diré que sea un film serio, eso es imposible en un slasher, ya que este es un film divertido, con momentos de humor, con escenas muy buenas de terror y con otro punto relevante como es el buen homenaje que hace este director a grandes clásicos del terror como "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Halloween", "Friday the 13TH" y otras más, pienso que esto es lo que hace que este film fuera tan bien recibido por cada fan dentro de este gran género que en este año está más vivo que nunca, ya que por los momentos se espera hasta tres estrenos más en dónde cuerpos mutilados serán protagonistas.
X is a very good film, it does not seek to be different or to be something never seen in this genre, but if there is something that stands out from other stories and that is to develop the motive, give it a real relevance and not be something banal and simple as sometimes happens in other films, that's what I liked the most because it shows that this is a planned and intelligent film and with this I will not say that it is a serious film, that is impossible in a slasher, because this is a fun film, with moments of humor, with very good scenes of terror and with another relevant point as it is the good tribute that makes this director to great horror classics like "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Halloween", "Friday the 13TH" and others, I think this is what makes this film was so well received by every fan in this great genre that this year is more alive than ever, because at the moment it is expected up to three more releases where mutilated bodies will be protagonists.

El cine de terror no es lo mío pero se ve interesante, si la veo en las listas de descarga le daré una oportunidad

Sabia que te gustaría este slasher. Sabe manejar todos los elementos clásicos del genero y el cineasta le aporta su estilo. Es un buen director , es el genero que domina, sabe mantener el ritmo de la narración y no descuida a los personajes. Cuando puedas tienes que buscar una de sus anteriores películas: The House of the Devil. Se me paso por alto en mi review hablar sobre el uso del recurso de metacine en la historia, el cual sirve al mismo tiempo para hacer homenaje y referencia s al cine explotación muy popular en los setenta. ¡Ah! otra que debes buscar del cineasta es The Sacrament, otro film de horror , metiéndonos dentro de una secta religiosa, donde también juega con le metacine. Hay cosas que ya son características de su cine. Espero que mantenga el nivel con la precuela Pearl, pero creo que quizás nos de algo distinto, puede que no sea un slasher, nos va a mostrar la juventud de ese personaje. Creo que ya esta lista para ser estrenada este mismo año. La película no pretende en ningún momento ser mas de lo que ofrece, una buena historia , muerte , sangre y diversión.
Estuve leyendo sobre Pearl y conseguí un breve trailer que se vio cuando X fue estrenada en un festival de cine; es colorida, mucho y según es una versión de films de Disney,pero de terror, algo como Mary Poppins terrorífica y no sé quedará ahí porque habrá una tercera parte enfocada más en los ochenta con el uso o la llegada de la época del VHS.
Voy a tomar tu consejo y veré ambos films, este me gustó bastante, mucho en realidad.
Hola amigo, me gusto lo que has descrito de la película, por un momento pensé en la masacre de Texas o películas similares aunque no sea igual, me he animado creo que voy a verla, me encantan las películas donde todo comienza tranquilo y luego suceden cosas catastróficas. Saludos.
Tiene mucho de clásicos del terror de ese género, es un buen y respetuoso homenaje por parte del director y guionista de esta historia.

Me gustó mucho esa película, la dirección fue un punto muy positivo. Los aspectos que más me gustaron fueron: la motivación del asesino y también la actuación de Mia Goth, ya que interpretaba a la actriz porno Maxine y también interpretaba a la anciana.

Eso fue lo que más me gustó de la película, el cómo manejan el motivo del asesino y que no es algo único, ya que también influyen en los actos de los demás, creo que nunca había visto un manejo de historia de esta manera en un film de este tipo.

You are right, it has a Terrifying atmosphere in several moments of the film and not only in the scenes of the deaths but in others.
