Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead - Movie Review [ES - EN]

Cada vez más confirmo que live-action basados manga y anime no hacen justicia a lo referente al material original; mi experiencia con estas versiones cinematográficas no son las mejores y por eso cuando decido ver estás producciones trato de no tener expectativas, aunque algunas veces es imposible porque varios de estos films son protagonizados por personajes famosos y mi curiosidad hace imposible no esperar algo bueno de esos films; ahora también existe otras producciones en dónde no tengo conocimiento de la historia y son por vía de los live-action es que descubro a esas historias y me empujan a leer el manga o ver el anime; justamente eso sucede con la película a la que hago reseña en esta publicación, una historia nueva, con buena base de fans y que gracias a la producción y distribución de Netflix pude saber de su existencia.

More and more I confirm that live-action based manga and anime do not do justice to the original material; my experience with these film versions are not the best and so when I decide to see these productions I try not to have expectations, although sometimes it is impossible because several of these films are starring famous characters and my curiosity makes it impossible not to expect something good from these films; now there are also other productions where I have no knowledge of the story and it is by way of live-action that I discover these stories and push me to read the manga or watch the anime; just that happens with the film that I review in this publication, a new story, with a good fan base and that thanks to the production and distribution of Netflix I was able to know of its existence.

"ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Dead", es un film basado en el manga y anime del mismo nombre y en dónde veremos a "Akira Tendo", un hombre en sus 20 años de edad y quien en un momento pensó que había conseguido el trabajo perfecto, pero la realidad es que, su "trabajo soñado" en realidad es el trabajo de sus pesadillas porque es víctima de un mal jefe y malos compañeros; un día, al levantarse con muy pocos ánimos de ir a su trabajo, Akira se da cuenta de que algo cambió, el mundo cambió y es que se ha desatado el apocalipsis, los muertos caminan entre nosotros y eso solo significa que... ¡NO DEBE IR AL TRABAJO! Esa era la oportunidad perfecta para alguien que quería dar un cambio radical a pesar de que sea lo últimos momentos que le queden de vida.

"ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Dead", is a film based on the manga and anime of the same name and where we will see "Akira Tendo", a man in his 20s who once thought he had gotten the perfect job, but the reality is that his "dream job" is actually the job of his nightmares because he is the victim of a bad boss and bad colleagues; One day, when he wakes up with very little encouragement to go to work, Akira realizes that something has changed, the world has changed and the apocalypse has been unleashed, the dead walk among us and that only means that...... He MUST NOT GO TO WORK! That was the perfect opportunity for someone who wanted to make a radical change even though it was the last moments of his life.

Este film es dirigido por Yusuke Ishida quien ha trabajado en otras versiones live-action de mangas y animes; en esta película la cual está dividida en una breve, pero buena introducción del protagonista, para después mostrar el breve caos del inicio del apocalipsis; justamente esas escenas son las que más me han gustado del film, están bien dirigidas y se capta la esencia del protagonista, pero también se nota la referencia que está basado en un manga; el mayor inconveniente que tiene en la dirección, es que en mi opinión es víctima de un guion que rechaza explorar el terror y que al final no es cómico; es muy caricaturesco e infantil y eso hace que tanto el segundo acto como el final de la película, en dónde esperaba mejores escenas de los zombies, la sentí decepcionante y es que no hay ninguna escena que pueda destacar en la hora final del film.

En el anterior párrafo, hice referencia a que el director es víctima del guion y posiblemente, Tatsuro Mishima, quien escribió el guion, es víctima de la historia creada por Haro Aso y Kotaro Takata; esto me hizo crear una muy corta lista de pro y contras; comenzaré con lo positivo lo cual es referente a la historia de Akira antes y después de la aparición del apocalipsis zombie, sus motivos, lo cual es lo importante y lo que es base para esta historia; lo otro que considero más importante, es lo bien que está escrito diferentes vivencias de los personajes que seguramente tanto en el manga, como en el anime, se desarrolla en episodios y que en esta oportunidad puede ser algo muy breve, pero funciona y hace que la historia fluya bien; ahora con respecto a lo que considero negativo, se repite un factor que he visto en otros films basados tanto en manga como anime y es que al ser completamente fieles al material original, en mi opinión hace que se vea mal, no funciona y en esta película sucede eso, en momentos pensaba "Seguramente en el anime, esa escena o esos diálogos es cómico" o la actitud de los personajes que deben ser iguales al anime, con getos y frases; siempre he pensado que esa fidelidad es un gran enemigo en estas producciones y puede afectar que el público ajeno al anime no disfruten de estas películas.

This film is directed by Yusuke Ishida who has worked in other live-action versions of manga and anime; in this film which is divided into a brief, but good introduction of the protagonist, and then show the brief chaos of the beginning of the apocalypse; just those scenes are what I liked most of the film, are well directed and captures the essence of the protagonist, but also notes the reference that is based on a manga; the biggest drawback that has in the direction, is that in my opinion is the victim of a script that refuses to explore the terror and that in the end is not funny; it is very cartoonish and childish and that makes both the second act and the end of the film, where I expected better scenes of zombies, I felt it disappointing and there is no scene that can highlight in the final hour of the film.

In the previous paragraph, I made reference to the fact that the director is a victim of the script and possibly, Tatsuro Mishima, who wrote it, is a victim of the story created by Haro Aso and Kotaro Takata; this made me create a very short list of pros and cons; I will start with the positive which is referring to the story of Akira before and after the appearance of the zombie apocalypse, its motives, which is the important thing and what is the basis for this story; the other thing that I consider more important is how well the different experiences of the characters are written, which surely in the manga, as well as in the anime, is developed in episodes and that in this opportunity may be something very brief, but it works and makes the story flow well; now with respect to what I consider negative, it repeats a factor that I have seen in other films based on both manga and anime and is that being completely faithful to the original material, in my opinion makes it look bad, it does not work and in this movie that happens, at times I thought "Surely in the anime, that scene or those dialogues is funny" or the attitude of the characters that should be the same as the anime, with gotos and phrases; I have always thought that this fidelity is a great enemy in these productions and can affect that the audience outside the anime do not enjoy these films.

Toda la historia es relatada desde el punto de vista de "Akira Tendo" Interpretado por Eiji Akaso, en esta parte repito que no he visto no el anime, ni el manga, pero estoy completamente seguro que la versión de este personaje en el film debe ser igual; creo que Akira es un personaje con una estabilidad mental algo afectada y esto no lo digo por mal, ya que lo visto en su relación con su jefe y demás compañeros de trabajo, la explotación a la cual es víctima, le hace perder toda relación con ciertas situaciones, en especial la que es experimentar el apocalipsis zombie; esa actitud que todo es mejor por no ir al trabajo lo transmite muy bien Akaso, su actitud, la felicidad y la loca confianza que transmite es algo que en mi opinión es pura locura, no hay nada estable en sus actos, pero en esta historia funciona, sé que en el anime o manga debe ser mucho mejor, pero en esta película, el trabajo del actor funciona.

The whole story is told from the point of view of "Akira Tendo" played by Eiji Akaso, in this part I repeat that I have not seen neither the anime nor the manga, but I am completely sure that the version of this character in the film must be the same; I think that Akira is a character with a mental stability somewhat affected and this I don't say it for bad, since the seen in his relationship with his boss and other coworkers, the exploitation to which he is a victim, makes him lose all relationship with certain situations, especially the one that is to experience the zombie apocalypse; that attitude that everything is better for not going to work is transmitted very well by Akaso, his attitude, happiness and the crazy confidence he transmits is something that in my opinion is pure madness, there is nothing stable in his actions, but in this story it works, I know that in the anime or manga it should be much better, but in this movie, the actor's work works.

Versiones live-action de "Death Note", "Saikano" y "20th Century Boys" (mi favorito), son películas que después de verlas me crearon curiosidad por los animes y mangas de las cuales están basadas; estás películas a pesar de ser muy fieles al material original, hacen que ciertas cosas funcionen como es principalmente resumir historias en tan poco tiempo de metraje de un film y aunque en "ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Death", en mi opinión creo que no es una buena película; creo que el plan de resumir las aventuras de estos personajes, al final las afecta en que se obvia ciertas cosas como los zombies y el humor. Al momento de ver la película, no dejaba de pensar que las diferentes situaciones funcionaria mejor en el manga y anime y es porque debe ser caricaturescas y justamente al copiar fielmente esa versión en el live-action me parece una gran equivocación; en mi opinión eso afecta el desarrollo del film, de las escenas de acción, las actuaciones, en sí de todo; creo que hay elementos que realizados de mejor manera, hubiera convertido a esta película en un éxito, no solo para algunos fans de Doramas y Kdramas, sino para cualquier público que se sienta atraído por ese tipo de producciones. A pesar de que no me haya gustado por completo, eso no evita que tenga curiosidad y expectativas sobre el anime y espero pronto ver los primeros episodios de su primera temporada.

Live-action versions of "Death Note", "Saikano" and "20th Century Boys" (my favorite), are movies that after watching them made me curious about the anime and manga from which they are based; these movies despite being very faithful to the original material, make certain things work as is mainly summarizing stories in such a short footage of a film and although in "ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Death ", in my opinion I think it is not a good movie; I think the plan to summarize the adventures of these characters, in the end affects them in that certain things like zombies and humor are obviated. At the moment of watching the movie, I kept thinking that the different situations would work better in the manga and anime and that's because it should be cartoonish and just by copying faithfully that version in the live-action I think it's a big mistake; in my opinion that affects the development of the film, the action scenes, the performances, everything; I think there are elements that done in a better way, would have made this movie a success, not only for some fans of Doramas and Kdramas, but for any audience that is attracted by this type of productions. Even though I didn't like it completely, that doesn't stop me from having curiosity and expectations about the anime and I hope to see the first episodes of its first season soon.
