Karate Kid: Legends ESP/ENG

Saludos queridos amigos de #CineTV. Hoy vengo a hablarles de una película de cual esperaba mucho y que desde que vi sus anuncios tenía muchisimas ganas de verla. Al fin lo hice, vi Karate Kid: Leyendas. Y lamentablemente no fue lo que yo esperaba.

Greetings, dear friends of #CineTV. Today I'm here to tell you about a film I've been looking forward to, and have been dying to see ever since I saw the ads. I finally did. I saw Karate Kid: Legends. And unfortunately, it wasn't what I expected.

Mis espectativas estaban bastante altas luego de enterarme de que harían una película juntos la leyenda del Kun Fu, Jackie Chan y el maestro del Karate, Ralph Macchio pero para serles honesta, la película me defraudó enormemente. Y esto no por las actuaciones sino por la trama que se desarrolló en toda la película.

My expectations were pretty high after learning that Kung Fu legend Jackie Chan and karate master Ralph Macchio would be making a film together, but to be honest, the film was a huge disappointment. And this wasn't because of the acting, but because of the plot that unfolded throughout the film.

La película en sí, en vez de resaltar por su historia, me resultó más de lo mismo. Es decir, fue como ver la misma historia con personajes diferentes y agregando a 2 leyendas del cine que se especializan en las artes marciales. Ni más ni menos.

The film itself, rather than standing out for its story, seemed like more of the same. In other words, it was like watching the same story with different characters and adding two cinema legends who specialize in martial arts. Nothing more, nothing less.

Lo que más me decepcionó del film fue el desarrollo de la historia en si. Todo el tema fue como que muy rápido en todo momento y quisieron agregar detalles para hacerla lucir diferente entre las demás pero al final para mí no es más que una copia de Karate Kid (2010) con diferentes actores. Si, una copia de aquella película en la que actuó Jaden Smith, el hijo de Will Smith.

What disappointed me most about the film was the story itself. The whole thing felt rushed throughout, and they tried to add details to make it stand out from the rest, but in the end, for me, it's nothing more than a copy of The Karate Kid (2010) with different actors. Yes, a copy of that film in which Jaden Smith, Will Smith's son, starred.

Mientras esperaba su estreno y hasta al fin poder ver la película, me pregunté muchas veces cómo podrían unir 2 historias diferentes en una sola para unir todas las películas y hacerlas como una saga. Si bien recuerdan, la historia del 2010 se desvía un poco de lo que fue el estilo de Karate Kid, con las enseñanzas inolvidables del Señor Miyagi pero a pesar de ello, mantuvo cierta escencia y podría tomarse facilmente como parte de la franquicia.

While waiting for its release and finally being able to see the film, I often wondered how they could merge two different stories into one, uniting all the films and making them a saga. If you recall, the 2010 story deviates slightly from the Karate Kid style, with the unforgettable teachings of Mr. Miyagi, but despite this, it retained a certain essence and could easily be considered part of the franchise.

Y esto fue lo que de verdad me decencantó, la forma en la que unieron ambas tramas, sin dar tanto detalle ni explicación, sólo algo que sucedió hace muchos años atrás y es en esta ocasión que deciden rendirle honor a lo que originó el legado de Karate Kid.

And this was what really captivated me, the way they brought both plots together, without giving too much detail or explanation, just something that happened many years ago and it is on this occasion that they decided to honor what originated the legacy of The Karate Kid.

Aquí vemos nuevamente al Señor Han, quien aparece en el 2010 como un conserje que sabe de Kun Fu pero no se dedicaba a enseñarlo. Ahora en el 2025 es todo un profesional dictando clases a muchos niños en China, donde tiene su propia academia y está rodeado de muchas personas, además que también tiene una hermana de la que nadie sabía nada sino hasta ahora.

Here we see Mr. Han again, who appears in 2010 as a janitor who knows kung fu but doesn't teach it. Now, in 2025, he's a professional teaching many children in China, where he has his own academy and is surrounded by many people. He also has a sister that no one knew about until now.

No lo sé, que una película tenga tantos huecos en los diálogos e incongruencias en su historia para mí, la hace una muy mala película. No tenía sentido unir el legado del Señor Miyagi con el Kun Fu del señor Han. Tampoco tenía sentido la existencia de una hermana y sobrinos con una historia trágica en la familia, aparte de la que experimentó el señor Han.

I don't know, for a film to have so many gaps in the dialogue and inconsistencies in its story, for me, it makes it a very bad film. It made no sense to connect Mr. Miyagi's legacy with Mr. Han's kung fu. Nor did it make sense to have a sister and nephews with a tragic family history, apart from the one Mr. Han experienced.

Por otro lado, no puedo negar que las actuaciones y las escenas de pelea estuvieron muy bien hechas. El protagonista Ben Wang tiene exceso de talento y se nota que Jackie Chan ha sido su mentor en las artes marciales y en la actuación, ya que muchas de sus piruetas me recordaron a este actor en su años de juventud. Y aunque la película me decepcionó, igual la disfruté y mi hijo también, pero al final me resultó más entretenida que otra cosa, así que le doy una calificación de 6/10. On the other hand, I can't deny that the acting and fight scenes were very well done. The lead character, Ben Wang, is overflowing with talent, and it's clear that Jackie Chan has been his mentor in martial arts and acting, since many of his stunts reminded me of the actor in his younger years. Although the film disappointed me, I still enjoyed it and so did my son. In the end, I found it more entertaining than anything else, so I give it a 6/10 rating. See you in my next post, best regards!
