Blue beetle: A movie with feelings and action || Review and opinion ( spoiler alert) [ENG/ESP]
Greetings! Welcome to a little Review of the latest Warner DC movie: Blue beetle. I went to see this movie last Monday, I had already seen the trailer sometime and I was quite delighted, as the CGI looked pretty good and besides, Blue beetle was one of my favorite DC comics super heroes, I remember watching some animated episodes when I was a kid and it was great to finally see him in a live action.
¡Saludos! Bienvenido o bienvenida a un pequeño Review de la última película de Warner DC: Blue beetle. Fui a ver esta película el lunes pasado, ya había visto el tráiler en alguna ocasión y me quedé bastante encantado, ya que el CGI se veía bastante bien y, además, Blue beetle fue uno de mis super héroes favoritos de DC comics, recuerdo haber visto unos episodios animados cuando era niño y fue genial por fin verlo en un live action.
What is it about?
The story revolves around Jaime Reyes and his family, who are Mexican migrants in a city with a rather strange name, Palmera city. Jaime finally arrives to the city where his family is, after graduating as a lawyer. Unfortunately, the joy does not last long for our young protagonist, as his family tells him that during the time he was studying, they had financial problems due to the health of his father and the rise in rent, so they run the risk of losing their house. Jaime and his younger sister, who is a rather impertinent young woman, start working as cleaning staff in a house that belongs to the owner of a large corporation with evil plans: Victoria Kord, the villainess of this story.

La historia gira entorno a Jaime Reyes y su familia, los cuales son unos migrantes mexicanos en una ciudad con un nombre bastante raro, Palmera city. Jaime por fin llega a dicha ciudad donde se encuentra su familia, después de haberse graduado de abogado. Lastimosamente, la alegría no le dura mucho a nuestro joven protagonista, ya que su familia le dice que en el tiempo en el que el estuvo estudiando, tuvieron inconvenientes económicos por la salud del padre y la subida del precio del alquiler, entonces corren el riesgo de perder su casa. Jaime y su hermana menor, la cual es una joven bastante impertinente, empiezan a trabajar como personal de limpieza en una casa que le pertenece a la dueña de una gran corporación con planes malignos: Victoria Kord, la villa de esta historia.
In that same mansion, there was also the niece of our antagonist, who realizes that her aunt (Victoria Kord) wants to start manufacturing a symbiotic weaponry for military and private security with the technology of the Scarab, a piece of extraterrestrial technology with a high warlike power. Verdad's company was looking for the Scarab for a long time and finally got it. Then, Jenny Kord (the niece) opposes to these plans of her aunt and confronts her in a small argument, where she is almost assaulted by her aunt's bodyguard, then Jaime appears to defend her and they are fired for that. Fortunately, Jenny Kord "thanks" Jaime for trying to defend her and tells her to come to the corporation building the next day to help him get a job.
En esa misma mansión, estaba también la sobrina de nuestra antagonista, la cual se da cuenta de que su tía (Victoria Kord) quiere empezar a fabricar un armamento simbiótico para militares y seguridad privada con la tecnología del Escarabajo, una pieza de tecnología extraterrestre con un poder bélico alto. La compañía de Verdad estuvo buscando el escarabajo por mucho tiempo y por fin lo consiguió. Entonces, Jenny Kord (la sobrina) se opone a estos planes de su tía y la confronta en una pequeña discusión, en donde casi es agredida por el guardaespaldas de su tía, entonces ahí aparece Jaime para defenderla los despiden por eso. Afortunadamente, Jenny Kord le "agradece" a Jaime por intentar defenderla y le dice que vaya al edificio de la corporación al día siguiente para ayudarlo a conseguir un trabajo.
Jaime goes to the building to look for Jenny, but Jenny was stealing the blue scarab from her aunt's labs, then, just as she is about to flee, Jaime appears, so Jenny in a desperate attempt, bestows the scarab on him inside a box of hamburgers to guard while distracting the security guards. Jaime takes the beetle home, confused, together with his family opens the box and starts playing with the beetle, then the beetle activates and attaches itself to Jaime's body, giving birth to Blue beetle.
Jaime va al edificio a buscar a Jenny, pero ésta se encontraba robando el escarabajo azul de los laboratorios de su tía, entonces, cuando está a punto de huir, aparece Jaime, así que Jenny en un intento desesperado, le otorga el escarabajo a él dentro de una caja de hamburguesas para que lo cuide mientras distrae a los guardias de seguridad. Jaime se lleva el escarabajo a su casa, confundido, junto con sus familia habré la caja y empiezan a jugar con el escarabajo, entonces el escarabajo se activa y se adhiere al cuerpo de Jaime, naciendo así Blue beetle.
Victoria Kord realizes what her niece did and they start attacking Jaime and his family to take the scarab from them. Victoria's bodyguard had a blue beetle-like outfit. They attack Jaime's family home and unfortunately, Jaime's father dies of a heart attack and Jaime is captured by Victoria Kord. Jaime's family decides to rescue him and Jenny Kord to an island. Jaime was in an extraction machine where they were taking energy and information from the scarab for their weapons and suits. Jaime and Jenny's family arrive in a scarab robot made by Jenny's father, who also had the scarab in the past. In the battle, Jaime manages to escape, but Victoria's bodyguard already had the scarab's energy and information in his suit, so he becomes more powerful and they begin to fight.
Victoria Kord se da cuenta de lo que hizo su sobrina y empiezan a atacar a Jaime y a su familia para quitarles el escarabajo. El guardaespaldas de Victoria tenía un traje parecido al de blue beetle. Atacan a la casa de la familia de Jaime y lastimosamente, el padre de Jaime muere por un ataque al corazón y Jaime es capturado por Victoria Kord. La familia de Jaime decide ir a rescatarlo junto con Jenny Kord a una isla. Jaime estaba en una máquina de extracción donde estaban quitándole energía e información al escarabajo para sus armas y trajes. La familia de Jaime y Jenny llegan en un robot escarabajo hecho por el padre de Jenny, el cual también tuvo el escarabajo en el pasado. En la batalla, Jaime logra escapar, pero el guardaespaldas de Victoria tenía ya la energía y la información del escarabajo en su traje, así que se vuelve más poderoso y empiezan a pelear.
Fortunately, Jaime manages to defeat the Bodyguard, who realizes how evil Victoria Kord is and decides to self-destruct along with the suit and Victoria. And so our heroes manage to escape from the island.
Afortunadamente, Jaime logra derrotar al Guardaespaldas, el cual se da cuenta de lo malvada que es victoria Kord y decide autodestruirse junto al traje y victoria. Y así logran escapar nuestros héroes de la isla.
My opinion:
I actually liked the movie a lot. The CGI was pretty good. I found the story very entertaining even though it wasn't that deep. There were very emotional moments in the movie, like when Jaime finds his father in the afterlife and he tells him that his destiny is to be Blue beetle. The fights were brutal, that's where the CGI in the movie obviously showed off the most, but I really loved it.
The only thing I didn't like was the cliché concept of the super united Latin American family with inseparable love values, I think it's already a stereotype that American movie producers have by putting Mexicans that way, so I found that part annoying but it served the plot well.
A pretty good movie that you can enjoy with your family and friends. I give it an 8/10.

La verdad me gustó mucho la película. El CGI estuvo bastante bueno. La historia me pareció muy entretenida a pesar de no se tan profunda. Hubo momentos muy emotivos en la película, como cuando Jaime encuentra a su padre en el más allá y este le dice que su destino es ser Blue beetle. Las peleas estuvieron brutales, ahí fue donde obviamente se lució más el CGI de la película, pero me encantó de verdad.
Lo único que no me gustó fue el concepto cliché de la familia latinoamericana super unida y con valores de amor inseparables, pienso que ya es un estereotipo que tienen las productoras estadounidense de películas al poner a los mexicanos de esa forma, así que esa parte me pareció fastidiosa pero sirvió bastante para la trama.
Una película bastante buena que puedes disfrutar con tu familia y amigos. Yo le doy un 8/10.
I saw this film a few weeks back and I really enjoyed it. I didn't actually plan to see this one at all but then I didn't have a choice at the cinema after the time for the film I wanted to see had passed. Well, it was fun to watch especially in a theatre full of people. It was funny and emotional to watch. I really liked the protagonist.

I have seen the trailer of this movie and I think this is a fantastic movie. With that being said, I am going to try this one out.

Vi el tráiler de esta nueva entrega de Dc y se me aprecio a la película de Ant-Man, por la manera como desarrollan el traje, sin duda tendría que verla. Este personaje para ser de la franquicia de dc es único, puesto que llevas las cosas a otro nivel y ahora podrán sacar nuevas películas con él, pero que increíble que todo sea por un escarabajo.
Te recordó a ant man? Si, tiene sentido. La verdad es que la disfrute también porque este era un personaje que vi de pequeño y me encantaba. Te la recomiendo, es bastante entretenida y no es aburrida. Gracias por comentar! Saludos
