Lightyear: A film with poignant overtones. || Review and opinion [ENG/ESP]
Warm greetings, dear reader. Today I want to talk about a movie I saw recently, Lightyear, a Disney animated film that was controversial and banned in several countries.
The movie tells the story of Boss Lightyear and an exploration mission to an inhospitable planet, along with a colleague who is also a space guardian like Boss. The mission ends up going wrong due to an accident with the ship when they try to escape from the planet, so they end up living on the planet while looking for a way to get out.
Saludos cordiales, querido lector. Hoy quiero hablar de una película que vi hace poco, Lightyear, una cinta animada de Disney que fue controversial y prohibida en varios países.
La película nos cuenta la historia de Boss Lightyear y una misión de exploración a un planeta inhóspito, junto con una colega que también es guardiana espacial igual que Boss. La misión termina saliendo mal por un accidente con la nave por intentar escapar del planeta, así que terminan viviendo en el mismo mientras buscan la manera de salir.
They begin tests with a crystal fuel, which end up going wrong the first few times, which makes Boss spend a lot of time in space due to the law of relativity, which indicates that an object traveling at a speed close to the speed of light will be slower. So, in each test, years and years go by, while Boss's friends build a city and his fellow captain grows older and has offspring.
In the end, a fleet of space robots invade the planet, attacking some citizens, it turns out that these robots were servants of a Boss Lightyear from the future, obsessed with finishing the mission.
Empiezan las pruebas con un combustible en forma de cristal, las cuales terminan saliendo mal en las primeras ocasiones, lo que hace que Boss pase mucho tiempo en el espacio debido a la ley de la relatividad, la cual indica que un objeto viajando a una velocidad cercana a la de la luz estará transcurriendo de forma más lenta. Así que, en cada prueba, pasan años y años, mientras los amigos de Boss construyen una ciudad y su colega capitana va envejeciendo y teniendo descendencia.
Al final, una flota de robots espaciales invaden el planeta, atacando a algunos ciudadanos, resulta que esos robots eran sirvientes de un Boss Lightyear del futuro, obsesionado con terminar la misión.
My opinion:
I didn't think the movie was terrible, but I do think they should have spiced up the story. I think the events should have been set in a broader context and not just on one planet, it would have been great to have seen other alien races and civilizations, other planets and other worlds. I think the lack of these factors made the movie feel a bit lacking.
I think the homosexuality of Boss's space guardian companion was a bit pathetic not because of the fact, but because well, you know Disney only did it in a forced way for marketing purposes, so it's something embarrassing in the movie.
Mi opinión:
La película no me pareció terrible, pero si pienso que debieron haberle puesto más sazón a la historia. Creo que los hechos debieron haberse generado en un contexto más amplio y no en un solo planeta, hubiera sido genial haber visto otras razas alienígenas y civilizaciones, otros planetas y otros mundos. Creo que la falta de estos factores hicieron que la película se sintiera un poco deficiente.
Creo que la homosexualidad de la compañera guardiana espacial de Boss si fue algo patético no por el hecho de, si no porque bueno, ya saben que Disney solo lo hizo de forma forzada por cuestiones de mercantilismo, entonces si es algo que bochornoso en la película.
There are quite tender and nice moments, like the moments when Boss's robot cat helps him with his goals. And something that was funny but sometimes unbearable, was the team that Boss had at the end to face his version of the future with the robots, they were very idiotic characters that more than laughs gave anger.
The only interesting thing about the movie was the time travel issues and that, it gave it a nostalgic feel to see how Boss Lightyear was still the same age to complete his mission, while his friend aged and died.
Overall, it's a cute kids movie except for the forced homosexuality of Boss' friend's character.
Hay momentos bastante tiernos y agradables, como los momentos en los que el gato robot de Boss lo ayuda con sus objetivos. Y algo que era gracioso pero a veces insoportable, era el equipo que Boss tenía al final para enfrentar a su versión del futuro con los robots, fueron personajes muy idiotas que más que risas daban rabia.
Lo único interesante de la película fue las cuestiones del viaje en el tiempo y eso, le dio un sentido nostálgico ver cómo Boss Lightyear seguía teniendo la misma edad para completar su misión, mientras que su amiga envejecía y moría.
En general, es una película para niños bonita a excepción de la homosexualidad forzada del personaje de la amiga de Boss.
From your review, the movie seems to be decent and I will give it a try. Disney is letting me down, since they decided to go down that road, they should for once give us a move without some people's beliefs being forced on the general public.
Yes brother, Disney has let everyone down, but that has cost them dearly, making all those movies with LGBT themes out of place have failed, they will start making more decent stuff in the future. Thanks for commenting bro! Best regards
No lo se, siento que usaron el nombre de Buzz para impulsar una película super forzada LBGTB, ni mas, ni menos.
La trama en cierto modo es interesante como intentar volver al pasado, pero al final decidió quedarse y vivir en el mundo LBGTB que creo el personaje ficticio "y secundario" como es la chica de color.
Por eso mismo se siente que usaron a Buzz para narrar la historia de un personaje que ni siquiera hace parte del mundo de lightyear.

Escribí mal Buzz 🤣. Si hermano, definitivamente Disney la defeco en ese aspecto de forzar temas por mercantilismo, haciendo que las películas para niños fueran algo desagradables. Lo mismo paso con la sirenita, definitivamente se volvieron locos de remate. Gracias por comentar!
