As I continue to enjoy the series or films I discover or that are recommended in the world of audiovisual productions, I will comment from my own perspective almost immediately. I have seen many series and films that I think deserve to be recommended, suggested, and even commented on, which have been relegated to the background by more recent ones I see. In short, what I came for.

On this occasion, I want to share with you a brief analysis or review of the 10-episode first season of The Exorcist, the series. This production premiered in 2016 and was created by Jeremy Slater. For audiences who enjoy this genre of horror, drama, and psychological thriller, it goes beyond being a rehashed story; it shows details of a deep emotional conflict, incorporating elements from the original film but bringing them to a more contemporary setting, with new approaches. As a lover of this genre since I found it, I was really eager to see it.

The fact is that it all starts with the movie The Exorcist, a horror classic released in 1973, which was a huge hit at the time due to its vivid and controversial scenes. Even though its content was quite strong for many, it continues to receive praise. The fact is that this series describes in its synopsis the story of the Rance family, whose daughter Casey begins to show signs of demonic possession. Her mother, seeking help, locates the local priest (Father Tomas Ortega), who ends up forming an alliance with the exiled exorcist Marcus Keane. They face a series of emotionally complex situations, which will focus not only on the Rance family, but also on their personal traumas and their latent past.

As for the narrative, the drama was present, the horror, the anguish, the tension, everything was connected from the beginning an end to the supernatural, demonic possession, and the spiritual conflicts of the priests, who battled both the demon and their emotional struggles.

The priests were the ones who took the lead in their performance. Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) always showed his most human, understanding, and sweet side, despite his somewhat challenging personal situation. His role felt natural, convincing amidst his emotional outburst. In the case of Father Marcus Kane (Ben Daniels), he was the tough guy in the series; his methods during exorcisms left him behind in formal practice to become an exile. Despite the character's emotional conflicts, he always remained strong, showing his experienced skills. His toughness maintained the connection. Although these two were at opposite poles, they made a great team. Marcus's performance kept us hopeful, to a certain extent, because he always appeared well-informed and knew what he was doing, which instilled confidence.

As for the girls, in the case of Casey Rance (Hannah Kasulka) the possessed daughter, she had a grotesque transformation during the possession, her role was convincing, she handled very well the emotional situation she had to live. Regarding Kat Rance (Brianne Howey), Casey's sister, she showed more of that personal drama, although it wasn't the central focus; amid her skepticism, she tried to remain normal.

Angela or Regan Rance (Geena Davies) She always appeared firm as the head of the family, a strong, bold woman, maintaining a balance between the rational and the supernatural, even when in the midst of conflict. Her performance is related to the appearance of her mother in the film The Exorcist. As the plot develops, new revelations are made that directly involve her; her role was dominant.

Of course, the disturbing music and the pauses create tension. They give that touch of terror beyond the setting. A good horror film or series must unfold amidst sounds or choruses that provoke even more suspense, terror, and psychological drama.

Personally, I think this series goes beyond a classic film as a starting point. It has its approach to terror in the midst of modernity, incorporates new details, and is able to keep you in suspense. I liked the development of Regan's theme at just the right moment. That revelation gave the series more intrigue. When the revelation is made, it creates greater suspense, and at the same time maintains a sequence with the film The Exorcist, without losing its original touch. It's not just about demons, it's about people who suffer from different situations, and that also humanizes the series.

Discovering this series in its first season was a unique experience. The performances are convincing, the terror still exists but in a less dramatic way, and more secrets are added to be discovered within the church. It's a whole series of events that together make this production. Wonderful, a great option for those of us who love horror, drama in the midst of a psychological thriller. Of course, to all those who support this genre like I do, I leave you this little gem of a TV series, not new but good. The reviews at the time were great for this first season, however, the same wasn't true for the second season, something I'll be discovering in the next few days. 100% recommended.

En la medida que vaya disfrutando de las series o películas que descubro o se recomiendan en el universo de las producciones audiovisuales, estaré comentando desde mi apreciación casi a lo inmediato, he visto muchas series y películas que me parece que merecen ser recomendadas, sugeridas y hasta comentadas, que han pasado a otro plano por las que veo más recientes, en fin, a lo que vine.

En esta oportunidad, quiero compartir con ustedes un pequeño análisis o reseña de la 1ra temporada de 10 capítulos de El Exorcista, la serie. Esta producción fue estrenada en el 2016 y creada por Jeremy Slater. Para el público amante de este género de terror, drama y thriller psicológico, va más allá de ser una historia repetida, muestra detalles de un conflicto emocional profundo, se incorporan elementos de la película original pero llevados a un ambiente más novedoso, con nuevos enfoques. Como amante de este género desde que la encontré, realmente estaba ansiosa por verla.

El caso es que todo parte de la película El Exorcista, un clásico del cine de terror estrenada en 1973, fue un gran boom en ese momento por sus escenas tan vividas y controversiales, incluso su contenido fue bastante fuerte para muchos, aún sigue recibiendo elogios. El caso es que esta serie describe en su sinopsis, la historia de la familia Rance, cuya hija Casey comienza a presenta signos de posesión demoniaca. Su madre en busca de ayuda ubica al párroco local (Padre Tomas Ortega) quien termina creando una alianza con el exorcista exiliado Marcus Keane. Ellos se enfrentan a una serie de situaciones complejas a nivel emocional, que no solo se centraran en la familia Rance, sino en sus traumas personales, más el pasado latente.

En cuanto a la narrativa, el drama se hizo presente, el horror, la angustia, la tensión, todo estuvo relacionado de principio a fin con lo sobrenatural, la posesión demoniaca, y los conflictos espirituales de los sacerdotes, quienes luchaba contra el demonio y al mismo tiempo con sus conflictos emocionales.

Quienes se llevaron la batuta en su actuación fueron los sacerdotes. Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) siempre mostraba su lado más humano, comprensivo, dulce, a pesar de su situación personal un poco desafiante. Su papel se vio natural, convence en medio de su explosión emocional. En el caso del padre Marcus Kane (Ben Daniels) era el duro de la serie, sus métodos durante los exorcismos lo dejaron a un lado de la práctica formal para convertirse en un exiliado. Muy a pesar de los conflictos emocionales del personaje, siempre se mantuvo fuerte, mostrando sus habilidades de experimentado, su rudeza mantenía la conexión, aunque estos dos estaban en polos opuestos, formaron un gran equipo. La actuación de Marcus mantuvo de cierta forma la esperanza, porque siempre se mostró con mucha información, sabía lo que hacía, eso generaba confianza.

En cuanto a las chicas, en el caso de Casey Rance (Hannah Kasulka) la hija poseída, tuvo una transformación grotesca durante la posesión, su papel fue convincente, manejo muy bien la situación emocional que le toco vivir. En referencia a Kat Rance (Brianne Howey) la hermana de Casey, mostro más ese drama personal, aunque no fue el eje central, en medio de su escepticismo trataba de mantenerse dentro de la normalidad.

Angela o Regan Rance (Geena Davies) siempre se mostró firme como la cabeza de la familia, una mujer fuerte, audaz, manteniendo el equilibrio entre lo racional y lo sobrenatural, aun cuando estuviese en medio del conflicto. Su actuación se relaciona con la película del Exorcista, la aparición de su madre. A medida que se va desarrollando la trama se van haciendo nuevas revelaciones que la involucran directamente, su papel fue dominante.

Por supuesto que la música inquietante, las pausas provocan tensión le dan ese toque de terror más allá de la ambientación, una buena película o serie de terror, debe desarrollarse en medio de sonidos o coros que provocan aún más suspenso, terror, drama psicológico.

En lo personal pienso que esta serie va más allá de un clásico del cine como punto de partida, tiene su enfoque de terror en medio de la modernidad, incorpora nuevos detalles, es capaz de mantener a la expectativa. Me gusto el desarrollo de la temática Regan en su momento justo, esa revelación le dio más intriga a la serie, cuando se hace la revelación, crea un suspenso mayor, y a la vez se mantiene una secuencia con la película El Exorcista, sin perder su toque original. No se trata solo de demonios, se trata de personas que sufren diferentes situaciones, eso también humaniza la serie.

Descubrir esta serie en su 1 ra temporada fue una experiencia única, las actuaciones son convincentes, el terror sigue existiendo pero de una forma menos dramática, se incorporan más secretos por descubrir dentro de la iglesia, es toda una serie de eventos que juntos hacen de esta producción maravillosa, una opción para los que amamos el terror, el drama en medio de un thriller psicológico. Por supuesto que a todos los que apoyan como yo este género, les dejo esta joyita dentro de las series de TV, no nuevas pero buenas. Las críticas en su momento fueron buenísimas de esta 1 ra temporada, sin embargo no fue lo mismo con la 2 da temporada, cosa que estaré en los próximos días por descubrir. Recomendada 100%.
