I hope you're doing great! Im very excited to share with you the review of a series that I watched almost in one sitting, it's that good!
Its name is Gen V and it's a spin-off of The boys, the supers series. Its first season was recently released, it has 8 episodes that last between 30 min and 1 hour approximately. Produced by Amazon, just like The boys.
It is a series that shows us new teenage supers at Godolkin University, struggling with their morals to do the right thing without falling from the high standards imposed by society and the company Vought.
Its first episode gives us an introduction of the main characters: Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo), Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway), Jordan Li (London Thor as a girl and Derek Lu as a boy), Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) and Luke Riordan (Patrick Schwarzenegger).
They all have troubled pasts, things they don't want to deal with or secrets in the present, basically like any human, but with superpowers, to my mind that makes it that much worse. You can tell the writers of the series put a lot of heart into it, as it's only superficially inspired by a story arc from The boys, practically everything is originally created for the series.
My favorite part is everything surrounding the powers, from their manifestation to the damage they do to the bodies of the people who possess them. Marie has control over blood, her power is very deep, to use it she must cut herself, Emma makes herself small by vomiting and gets bigger by eating, Cate can manipulate and read people's minds, but when she forces herself too much she can have convulsions, Jordan is bi morph (he changes between boy or girl, He is also very strong, but he suffers discrimination from Vought and Andre can manipulate metal, this caused a brain tumor to his father who has the same power, so it is possible that the same thing happens to him.
Basically they all have problems at the cost of their powers, remember they got them thanks to being injected with Compound V while they were children, the powers of the supers in The boys or Gen V are not natural. I thought it was excellent how they handled each character regarding their power, how that makes them strong but at the same time very vulnerable, as they have personal and social problems related to them. This makes us feel a lot of empathy towards the supers (contrary to The boys) the humans around them have used them as an experiment and cruelly manipulated them in many different ways throughout their lives.
The soundtrack of the series is a beauty, the effects, the choreographies of the fights, the aesthetics in general. As the story progresses it has several plots that you don't expect, and the ending makes for a very promising sequel. This could potentially be a new universe of superheroes, but much more satirical, dark and interesting than Marvel's.
On the negative side the only thing I could mention is that I found the sexual references a bit excessive, a couple of scenes I think could have not referred to genitals or sex and would have been understood in the same way, but I appreciate that they kept the gore and level of violence of The boys, the cameo of Homelander was very high and not only seemed fan service, like Butcher. Besides that in the series they reveal several things that relate it to the plot and characters of The boys.
I hope they keep the quality of this season for the next ones, the sad news is that the actor who played Andre died in an accident a couple of days ago and we will have to see how the production team of the series handles it, they were already writing season 2. ¡Espero estén muy bien! ¡Por mi parte estoy muy emocionada en compartirles la reseña de una serie que vi completa casi en una sentada, asà de buena es!
Su nombre es Gen V y es un spin-off de The boys, la serie de supers. Su primera temporada fue estrenada recientemente, tiene 8 episodios que duran entre 30 min y 1 hora aproximadamente. Producida por Amazon, igual que The boys.
Es una serie que nos muestra a nuevos supers adolescentes en la Universidad Godolkin, luchando con su moral para hacer lo correcto sin caer de los altos estándares que les impone la sociedad y la compañia Vought.
Su primer episodio nos da una introducción de los personajes principales: Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo), Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway), Jordan Li (London Thor como chica y Derek Lu como chico), Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) y Luke Riordan (Patrick Schwarzenegger).
Todos tienen pasados problemáticos, cosas con las que no quieren lidiar o secretos en el presente, básicamente como cualquier humano, pero con superpoderes, a mi parecer eso lo hace mucho peor. Se nota que los escritores de la serie le pusieron mucho corazón, ya que está inspirada solo superficialmente en un arco narrativo de The boys, prácticamente todo está creado originalmente para la serie.
Mi parte favorita es todo lo que rodea a los poderes, desde su manifestación hasta el daño que va produciendo en los cuerpos de las personas que los poseen. Marie tiene control sobre la sangre, su poder es muy profundo, para usarlo debe cortarse, Emma se hace pequeña vomitando y se engrandece comiendo, Cate puede manipular y leer la mente de las personas, pero al forzarse mucho puede llegar a tener convulsiones, Jordan es bi morfo (cambia entre chico o chica, es asiático lo cual me parece justo, pues sus facciones son muy andróginas), también es muy fuerte, pero sufre de discriminación por parte de Vought y Andre puede manipular el metal, esto le ocasiono un tumor cerebral a su padre que tiene el mismo poder, asà que es posible que a él le suceda lo mismo.
Básicamente todos tienen problemas a costa de sus poderes, recordemos que los obtuvieron gracias a que les inyectaran el compuesto V mientras eran niños, los poderes de los supers en The boys o Gen V no son naturales. Me pareció excelente como manejaron a cada personaje con respecto a su poder, como eso los hace fuertes pero al mismo tiempo muy vulnerables, ya que tienen problemas personales y sociales relacionados con ellos. Esto hace que sintamos mucha empatÃa hacia los supers (contrario a The boys) los humanos a su alrededor los han usado como experimento y manipulado cruelmente de muchas formas diferentes a lo largo de sus vidas.
El soundtrack de la serie es una belleza, los efectos, las coreografÃas de las peleas, la estética en general. Conforme avanza la historia tiene varios plot que no esperas, y el final da para una continuación bastante prometedora. Este podrÃa potencialmente ser un nuevo universo de súper héroes, pero mucho más satÃrico, oscuro e interesante que el de Marvel.
Por el lado negativo lo único que podrÃa mencionar es que me pareció un poco excesivo las referencias sexuales, un par de escenas me parece que podrÃan no haberse referido a genitales o sexo y se hubieran entendido de igual forma, pero aprecio que mantuvieran el gore y nivel de violencia de The boys, el cameo de Homelander estuvo muy a la altura y no solo pareció fan service, igual el de Butcher. Además de que en la serie revelan varias cosas que la relacionan con la trama y los personajes de The boys.
Espero que mantengan la calidad de esta temporada para unas próximas, la noticia triste es que el actor que interpretaba a Andre falleció en un accidente hace un par de dÃas y habrá que ver como maneja eso el equipo de producción de la serie que ya venian escribiendo la temporada 2. ¿Vieron The boys? ¡Les recomiendo mucho ambas! ¡Muchas gracias por leer! 💞 Abrazos, besitos, tomen agüita y cepillense los dientes! 💞

Bueno la serie fue una buena serie, mejor a the boys mmm mis dudas ya que esta serie maneja los conflictos propio de adolescentes pero lo que deben enfermar es según mi parecer algo fuera de contexto
Sin embargo no dire que es mala , es muy buena y la conexión con the boys es genial

The boys me parece mejor en terminos generales,peroóoo tambien tiene mas temporadas asi que...Me hace feliz que no hayan bajado la calidad solo porque "es de adolescentes"
Bueno en realidad me parece que como lo presentaron en termino de los villanos y la conspiración, creo que se pudo elaborar mejor, algo que más me gusta de the boys es que silor ele dan un giro genial y es algo muy palpable lo que se presenta, es decir, si fueras un súper héroe con una empresa que solo quiere ganas dinero, esos problemas aparecerán aquà en esta no me convenció como lo plantearon pero no fue mala la serie
Comprendo...Si,creo que se enfocaron mas en mostrarlo tipo adolescentes en ese sentido,los problemas personales,el uso e influencia de las redes sociales,el marqueting,etc.
Lo que me motiva de esta serie es que si el universo continua estos mismos heroes creceran y podrian armar una contrarevolucion a los heroes nazis,no se si se unirian a los chicos en the boys,me parece que seria mas interesante que se arme otro bando,a lo X-men
Jajaja si serÃa genial, y si tienes razón, la ventaja es que se conectan ambas series asà que es probable que la segunda temporada sea mucho mejor
