Jee-woon Kim es un director de culto coreano Famoso por la película de terror Dos hermanas, y por el divertidísimo spaghetti western El bueno, el feo y el raro.

Aquí se observa una dirección perfecta ayudada por un excelente guión,( obra de Hoon-jung Park ), y unas actuaciones espectaculares. La película es de un ritmo trepidante, con movimientos de la cámara en algunas escenas, con picados y contrapicados que magnifican las misma, y un sorprendente travelling de trescientos sesenta grados en el interior de un vehículo en marcha.

En la banda sonora se distingue la música clásica, piano y guitarra española.

Ví esta película hace algunos años con mi esposa y aunque ella no es muy entusiasta del género quedo atrapada por la historia que se cuenta y en muchas escenas se tapaba los ojos, por mi parte quede estupefacto ante la maldad del asesino en serie, y como ante nuestros ojos el otro protagonista incluso llega a superar en niveles de maldad y degradación al asesino en serie.

Realmente me parece más espelúznate que una película de vampiros, de hombres lobos o de espíritus malignos ya que en este caso el monstruo es el humano mismo.

Para mí, una película de culto instantáneo, de visión obligada que ha gustado mucho a todas las personas a las cuales se las he recomendado.

When we watch a movie and we are afraid of the unusual, seeing horrifying monsters that force us to cover our eyes, we are in front of a horror film. Within this genre is circumscribed the South Korean production I Found the Devil (2010), and needless to say, it meets all the above characteristics.

Darkness is that side where our inner devil dwells which is awakened by the desire for revenge.

In this film, the predator and serial killer who rapes and dismembers his victims with impunity, becomes prey when the fiancé of one of them, (a Korean Intelligence Service Agent), takes justice into his own hands and initiates a cat and mouse game.

The main actors present a memorable interpretative duel, transmitting unpredictable sensations, (savagery, rawness, brutality), from which the viewer at no time is disengaged until an ending that dislocates. They are self-destructive characters who end up offering an acting recital. We see a hellish underworld where the killer perpetrates his atrocities, in which the director portrays violence in an excellent way. Hero and villain at times merge into a single face, within a great story of revenge.

The protagonist couple can be defined as Yin and Yan, they are the perfect complement. There are no concessions or sentimentality, what the Agent seeks is to inflict the greatest possible pain regardless of the means to achieve it or the consequences of such punishment. The film takes influences from titles such as "Seven" or "Zodiac" and "Saw", complemented with generous doses of blood and creativity in the bloody procedure of the criminal.

Kyung Chul, is a single father, with a stable job and his own house, but for him the human race means nothing, except for women who become a macabre fun. This character transpires pure evil. He is played by actor Choi Min-sik (star of the also excellent Oldboy), with a terrifying look, which produces antipathy.

Kim Soo-hyeon, is the NIS (Korean Intelligence Service) agent, always on the lookout for his girlfriend. He is played by actor Lee Byung-hun, (currently playing the role of Frontman in the hit series The Squid Game), somewhat expressionless but with his eyes conveys coldness, sadness and despair.

When these two elements face to face, we realize that evil ends up begetting evil noting this in the last scene in which it is reflected that these two extremes are almost equal, we can say that we are facing the two faces of the devil.

Here we see flawless direction aided by an excellent script (by Hoon-jung Park), and spectacular performances. The film is of a fast pace, with camera movements in some scenes, with sharp cuts and shots that magnify the same, and a surprising three hundred and sixty degree tracking shot inside a moving vehicle.
The soundtrack features classical music, piano and Spanish guitar.

I saw this film a few years ago with my wife and although she is not very enthusiastic about the genre she was trapped by the story told and in many scenes she covered her eyes, for my part I was stunned by the evil of the serial killer, and how before our eyes the other protagonist even surpasses the serial killer in levels of evil and degradation.

It really seems to me more horrifying than a vampire, werewolf or evil spirits movie, since in this case the monster is the human himself.

For me, an instant cult film, a must-see that has been enjoyed by everyone to whom I have recommended it.
