It was 1978 and it was not the first time that my mom and I had queued for hours to see a movie, the previous year we had queued to see Star Wars. If I remember correctly it was 1:30 p.m. when we arrived and the tickets were sold to us at 5 p.m., and they were for the 7 p.m. showing!

The movie was called Grease, I think my mom took me more to see John Travolta than to enjoy the musical. What mattered to me was that they took me to the movies.

At my 11 years old I still didn't have defined my musical and movie tastes, I had to consume the music and movies that my mom, my grandmother and my aunts allowed me to hear and see. However, since I was very young I always liked blonde women.

In that movie I saw a beautiful young woman with white skin, blonde hair and brown eyes, apparently she was 17 years old in the movie, but in real life she was 29 years old! She also sang and danced.

In that same year on the radio in addition to Hopelessly Devoted to You from the movie mentioned above, the song A Little More Love was played on the radio with insistence.

Hopelessly Devoted to You.

It wasn't long before my guilty pleasure, Xanadu, was released in 1980. There again appears my dear Olivia, plus her co-star is none other than the legendary Gene Kelly. It's a movie that many categorize as tacky or Kistch with shoulder pads, garish prints, garishly colored hair, the aerobic ankle warmers, among so many things. It is a film that represents the transition from the 70s to the 80s. Here everyone involved seems to be having a good time.

By then I was almost thirteen years old and the image of this spectacular and beautiful woman kept mesmerizing me.

In 1983 Olivia Newton-John returns to make couple with John Travolta in a film called Two of a kind, a fantasy in which angels must prevent a second universal flood and for this they depend on the protagonist couple to fall in love. A film that many have already left in oblivion. Besides Olivia's angelic beauty, I only appreciate the soundtrack of the movie, especially the song Ask the Lonely by the band Journey and the song sung by my beloved Olivia Twist of fate.

In 2010 she has an appearance in the series Glee with one of its protagonists Jane Lynch, in which she remakes in some way the video of her 1981 hit Physical.

One of his first hits in music is a 1971 version of Bob Dylan's song If not for you.

She was born in Cambridge in 1948 and her maternal grandfather was the German physicist and mathematician Max Born, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1954.

At the age of five she moved to Australia, studying at the University of Melbourne. He began as a singer in the 70s and in 1974 represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision festival, being in fourth place, being the winner the group ABBA.

Between 1974 and 1975 she moved to the United States and triumphed as a pop and country singer, to the point that she won Dolly Parton the award for female vocalist of the year 1974 at the Country Music Association Awards. Just listen to the song Me and Bobby McGee written by Kris Kristoferson.

Her popularity led to her being offered the role of Sandy in Randal Kleiser's Grease with John Travolta, and the rest was history.

Unfortunately she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, a disease that she had to live with and yet she fought it in a memorable way as she supported research and treatment at the Melbourne cancer center that bears her name. She was also a social activist who collaborated against the massacre of dolphins in tuna fishing, took part in concerts for children in need and was an ambassador of the United Nations for the preservation of the environment.

She had a daughter by Matt Lattanzi, born in 1986, named Chloe Rose Lattanzi, who is also a composer and singer.

This is a small tribute to someone I will always admire for her beauty, her angelic voice, for pleasant moments watching her in movies and TV series and for having been a person who proved to be more than a successful artist, with many personal moments including an amicable separation in 1995 with Matt Latanzzi, a long gone couple . Patricio McDermott, (his death is still in doubt) and a marriage to tycoon John Easterling. I apologize in advance for some of Olivia Newton John's musical hits and movies for film and TV that I did not name. The singer, songwriter, actress, human and animal rights advocate died of breast cancer on August 8, 1922 at the age of 73.

I have to admit that when writing this publication I have a lump in my throat, and I have felt sadness and even some tears have been about to come out of my eyes, but I know that somehow this beautiful woman lived and enjoyed her life as she wanted. I have eternal admiration for her.
I say goodbye until a next opportunity, greetings to all.

Olivia Newton John was one of the favorite artist of my aunts. As I was growing, I keep on hearing her songs being played on a cassette tape back in the day. This made an impression in me that she is one of the icon of Country Music until today.

I am so sorry to hear that you've experienced losing or knowing the passing of the woman you admired for a very long time.

Hi. I appreciate you stopping by. I think Olivia Newton-John exceeded the standards of what they call pop music, and I am a rocker at heart. She possessed other very human qualities in addition to those of a singing or Hollywood star, which she demonstrated through her environmentalism and her support for the fight against cancer. I will continue to admire her as she is a person who added value to her life. Best regards.
