Goodbye Sir Haffmann: What would you do? [ENG/ESP]

Hello friends, welcome to my blog, this weekend I stumbled upon this 2021 French film, directed by Fred Cavayé, based on a play of the same name. It is a drama set in the time of World War II, when France was occupied by the Germans. The difference with other films, with this one, is that it talks about human relationships from an intimate point of view and what we are willing to do or not, in situations of extreme tension under certain circumstances.

Hola amigos, bienvenidos a mi blog, este fin de semana que tope con esta película francesa de 2021, dirigida por Fred Cavayé, basada en una obra de teatro del mismo nombre. Es un drama que se sitúa en la época de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, cuando Francia, fue ocupada por los alemanes. La diferencia con otras películas, con esta, es que nos habla de las relaciones humanas desde un punto de vista íntimo y lo que estamos dispuestos hacer o no, en situaciones de tensión extrema bajo ciertas circunstancias.

I liked how the film approaches these relationships and the different points of view of each character, from the psychology and morals of each one, for those who see it we wonder whether or not we are capable of acting in the same way. It is not easy to judge when we do not live the same circumstances or feel the same pressures. We can say we would do such and such a thing, but in reality we won't know for sure how we would react until we experience it firsthand.

Me gusto como la película enfoca estas relaciones y los diferentes puntos de vista de cada personaje, desde la psicología y la moral de cada uno, para quienes la vemos nos preguntamos si somos o no capaces de actuar de la misma manera. No es fácil juzgar cuando no vivimos las mismas circunstancias o sentimos las mismas presiones. Podemos decir que haríamos cuál o tal cosa, pero en realidad nos sabremos con certeza como reaccionaríamos hasta que lo vivimos en carne propia.

This film shows us how the lives of 3 people change radically when one of them accepts a deal that in principle was good for everyone, but when time, external pressures, personal ambitions change, everything is degraded resulting in changes that none of them expected, here the morality of each one plays a major factor to choose and decide to what extent we are willing to give in to our baser instincts leaving even aside what is right or wrong and thinking only about our benefit.

Esta película nos muestra como la vida de 3 personas cambia radicalmente cuando uno de ellos acepta un trato que en principio era bueno para todos, pero cuando el tiempo, presiones externas, ambiciones personales cambian, todo se va degradando dando lugar a cambios que ninguno de ellos esperaba, acá la moralidad de cada uno juega un factor primordial para escoger y decidir hasta qué punto estamos dispuestos a ceder a nuestros bajos instintos dejando aún lado lo que está bien o mal y pensando solo en nuestro beneficio.

What makes this film extraordinary in my opinion is that it makes us think what we would do in their place, we can pretend to answer this question from our morality, but we would never know for sure. Years ago I was a victim of an express kidnapping, I remember that when a friend told a news story or heard a story of a robbery, they always said that if something similar happened to them they would do this or that, but when it happens to you you don't know how you will react until you see yourself in the situation. Fortunately, my reaction was calm and to calm down the criminals, I collaborated with them in everything so they could take what they wanted (money), staying calm and talking to them all the time, made the difference so they were not violent and released me unharmed. I learned that saying you will do this or that is false, only when you live it you see what you do.

Lo que hace esta película extraordinaria en mi opinión es que nos hace pensar que haríamos en su lugar, podemos pretender contestar esta pregunta desde nuestra moralidad, pero jamás lo sabríamos con certeza. Hace años fui víctima de un secuestro express, recuerdo que cuando algún amigo contaba al ver una noticia o haber escuchado una historia de robo, siempre decía que si les pasaba algo parecido harían esto o aquello, pero cuando te pasa no sabes como reaccionaras hasta verte en la situación. Afortunadamente, mi reacción fue calmada y de calmar a los delincuentes, colabore con ellos en todo para que se llevaran lo que querían (dinero), el mantener la calma y hablarles todo el tiempo, hizo la diferencia para que no fueran violentos y me liberaran sin daño alguno. Aprendí que decir que harás esto o aquello es falso, solo cuando lo vives ves lo que haces.

This film for me was a reminder that only when we live in extreme situations do we know how we react, the rest is speculation. I recommend you watch this film with this in mind because I think the essence of this film is to show that not all of us are faithful to what we are morally taught, that our personality, morality and values can be affected by the circumstances we are presented with, that deciding the right thing to do is not easy when not doing it generates a better result. At this point you know how you really are and your true essence, your integrity.

Esta cinta para mí fue un recordatorio que solo cuando vivimos situaciones extremas sabemos como reaccionamos, lo demás son especulaciones. Te recomiendo ver esta cinta teniendo en mente esto porque creo que la esencia de esta cinta es demostrar que no todos somos fieles a lo que moralmente nos enseñan, que nuestra personalidad, moralidad y valores pueden verse afectados por las circunstancias que se nos presentan, que decidir lo correcto no es sencillo cuando él no hacerlo te genera un mejor resultado. En este punto conoces como en realidad eres y tu verdadera esencia, tu integridad.
