I don't usually watch Christmas movies, although I like the Christmas season very much. Ever since I was a child, I have liked this month because I am able to enjoy it, eat sweets and see the excitement of Venezuelan traditions. Much of that has changed; in the environment, there is a certain excitement, but it is not the same as other years; there is a certain pause due to the high migration and the debacle in my country. However, we put a lot of spirit into everything.

This week, I decided to watch a Christmas film. I think it's been a long time since I've seen something with this kind of concept. To be exact, the only thing I liked was the message, the film felt very far from my tastes. I think I've changed a bit, and that's the fault of all the members of Movies and TV Shows.

The plot starts with a sweet and captivating romance, so romantic that you'll say: How cute, how tender, how magical! I can't help but say that I was hoping for a little more compactness in the script. The plot has very weak dialogue; there are boring scenes in the middle of the film, and the ending is just like every cliché Hollywood film I've ever seen.

No suelo ver películas navideñas, aunque me gusta mucho la época decembrina. Desde que era un niño me gustaba que éste mes llegara para poder disfrutar, comer dulces y ver lo emocionante de las tradiciones venezolanas. Mucho de eso ha cambiado, en el entorno hay cierta emoción; pero no es igual que otros años, hay una cierta pausa por la alta migración, por la debacle de mi país. Sin embargo, le ponemos mucho ánimo a todo.

Esta semana decidí ver un film navideño, creo que ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que vi algo con este tipo de concepto. Para ser exacto, lo único que me gustó fue el mensaje, la película la sentí muy lejos de mis gustos. Creo que he cambiado un poco, eso es culpa de todos los miembros de Movies TV Shows>

La trama comienza con un dulce y cautivador romance, tan romántico que dirás lo siguiente: ¡Qué lindo! ¡Qué tierno! ¡Qué mágico! No puedo evitar decir que esperaba un poco más de compactación en el guion. La trama presenta diálogos muy flojos, en el centro de la película hay escenas aburridas y el final es igual a todas las películas cliché de Hollywood que he visto.

Why did I watch the whole film? The reason is that I was a bit bored. I wanted to see something with a bit of snow, but that had no presence in the plot. Besides the fact that it was very magical, I remember the last Christmas movie I saw on Netflix a couple of years ago being The Princess Switch. I saw that production solely for Vanessa Hudgens, and I also noticed that it has a sequel available. Let's see what it's like soon.

What's the plot? Callie (Lauren Swickard) and Joseph (Josh Swickard) are deeply in love, but there are a number of obstacles they face when they travel to California for Christmas. Callie will discover who Joseph really is and his life in California. Nothing is what she thought it was, everything was a lie and her Christmas Eve wedding may be stopped by lies, reality and a life she never expected.

¿Por qué vi el film completo? La razón es que estaba un poco aburrido, quería ver algo con un poco de nieve, pero eso no tuvo presencia en la trama. Además de que fue muy poco mágica, recuerdo que la última película navideña que vi en Netflix hace un par de años fue The Princess Switch. Vi ésa producción únicamente por Vanessa Hudgens, también noté que tiene una segunda parte disponible. Vamos a ver que tal es proximamente.

Recapitulando, comparando la última película navideña que vi, ésta no me pareció envolvente a plenitud. Ésta película se encuentra disponible en Netflix.

¿Cuál es el argumento? Callie (Lauren Swickard) y Joseph (Josh Swickard) están profundamente enamorados; pero existen un conjunto de obstáculos que deben enfrentar al viajar a california en navidad. Callie descubrirá quién es realmente Joseph y su vida en california. Nada es lo que ella creía, todo era una mentira y su casamiento en noche buena puede detenerse por las mentiras, la realidad y una vida que ella nunca se esperaba.

I should point out that this is the second part of this story. That is, it has two films. The first one is focused on a slightly more dramatic concept: Joseph's acquisition of Callie's family farm.

The beginning of the story is very good, it makes you want to watch it and intrigues you. You feel the excitement and imagine what the wedding of the main characters might be like; however, it looks like a poor job after thirty minutes. The film lasts 1 hour, 46 minutes; this could have been reduced to 85 minutes, in my opinion. There are many unnecessary scenes and moments that cause the story to lose balance.

Debo destacar que esta es la segunda parte de esta historia. Es decir, posee dos films. El primero está enfocado en un concepto un poco más dramático y la adquisición por parte de Joseph de la granja familiar de Callie.

El inicio de la historia es muy bueno, te da ganas de verla y te intriga. Sientes la emoción y te imaginas como puede ser la boda de los protagonistas; sin embargo, se ve un mal trabajo luego de los treinta minutos. La película dura 1 h 46 min, esto pudo ser reducido a 85 minutos a mi modo de ver. Hay muchas escenas y momentos innecesarios que provocaron que la historia perdiera equilibrio.

Another aspect that I felt did not help this film was the lack of strong Christmas elements. There was very little presence of such elements. The most significant was a living nativity scene that is shown in the plot and feels somewhat improvised in the story.

The message was one of the things I liked. A lot of people are busy working, thinking about money and forgetting the most important thing at the time. Yes, family sharing. There is a deep reflection on helping others, sharing and thinking about what is important. It is true that we must work, we must undertake and cover our responsibilities as adults, but we must also share with the special people around us. Those who are important to us.

I liked that message, and it was conveyed by a barefoot child. The protagonist gave him a pair of shoes, which reminded me of the kindness that exists in Venezuela. Many people may not have a lot of money, may be humble or may have a lot financially, but they will always share what they have at times. By nature, by our culture, and always in the seasons, you see in the country that someone gives you a Hallaca, a piece of bread, or sweets. Traditions exist—not in the same quantities as a couple of years ago, but the vast majority are like that. Christmastime is for sharing and being with the people you love.

Otro aspecto que me pareció que no favoreció éste film fue la falta de elementos navideños impactantes. Había una muy poca presencia de este tipo de elementos. Lo más significativo fue un pesebre viviente que se muestra en la trama y se nota algo improvisado en la historia.

El mensaje fue una de las cosas que me gustaron. Muchas personas se dedican a trabajar, piensan en el dinero y olvidan lo más importante en la época. Sí, compartir en familia. Hay una profunda reflexión sobre ayudar a otros, compartir y pensar en lo importante. Es cierto que debemos trabajar, debemos emprender y cubrir nuestras responsabilidades como adultos, pero también debemos compartir con las personas especiales que nos rodean. Las que son importantes para nosotros.

Ese mensaje me gustó y fue plasmado por medio de un niño descalzo. La protagonista le regalo un par de zapatos, eso me recordó la bondad que existe en Venezuela. Mucha gente puede no tener mucho dinero, puede ser humilde o puede tener mucho económicamente; pero siempre compartirán lo que tienen en las épocas. Por naturaleza, por nuestra cultura, siempre en las épocas, usted ve en el país que alguien le da una Hallaca, un pedazo de pan, o dulces. Tradiciones, no en las mismas cantidades que hace un par 10 años, pero la gran mayoría es así. La época navideña es para compartir y estar con las personas que amas.
