Saludos compañeros hivers y 3spikers. Hoy les traigo una nueva reseña, pero antes de comenzar, quiero mencionar que estoy usando como fondo del video, el trailer oficial de la película, lo cual creo que no debería considerarse como una violación de derechos de autor, dado que es material promocional distribuido por sus creadores, pero sí de algún modo incurro en alguna infracción, les pido por favor que me lo hagan saber.
Ahora sí, comencemos: recientemente se estrenó en Netflix la secuela de la película "Misión de rescate" del año 2020, que es protagonizada por Chris Hemsworth. Había estado esperando esta secuela, dado que, aunque aparentemente el personaje principal había muerto, imaginé que lo harían sobrevivir para alargar su historia. Justo eso hicieron el guionista Joe Russo y el director Sam Hargrave, luego de que la plataforma de Streaming diera luz verde al desarrollo de una continuación, debido al éxito alcanzado por la primera entrega. El título original de estos dos largometrajes es “Extraction”, personalmente soy un tanto quisquilloso con los nombres y habría preferido que en Latinoamérica se le tradujera literalmente como “Extracción” en lugar de “Misión de rescate”. Peor aún, me parece el título que se le dio en España, que es simplemente el nombre del protagonista, Tyler Rake.
En mi opinión, esta que hasta ahora es una bilogía, se está consolidando como uno de los máximos exponentes actuales en su estilo, sin duda pertenece a la nueva generación de películas y series de acción que en los últimos años han reposicionado el género, como es el caso de la saga “John Wick” y la producción original de la plataforma Prime Video “La lista terminal”. Según mi apreciación, su aprobación por parte del público, tiene que ver principalmente con que están enfocadas más que nada en la acción, las escenas de lucha, tiroteos y explosiones, sin avergonzarse de ello; han entendido cuál es su propósito, por lo que no se regodean demasiado en argumentos complejos o por cumplir con ideologías determinadas, se limitan a contar una historia simple pero contundente con la que logran hacernos empatizar con los personajes, debido a sus cualidades y defectos, no simplemente porque estos pertenezcan a un determinado grupo identitario. Luego, a partir de esa base, desatan un sólido despliegue de violencia gráfica, sin escatimar en personajes aguerridos, coreografías de combate y efectos visuales, obteniendo como resultado, el tipo de entretenimiento que gran parte del público desea.

Today I bring you a new review, but before I start, I want to mention that I am using the official trailer of the movie as the background of the video, which I think should not be considered as a copyright violation, since it is promotional material distributed by its creators, but if I somehow commit an infringement, please let me know.
Now yes, let's begin: the sequel to the movie "Rescue Mission" of the year 2020, which stars Chris Hemsworth, was recently released on Netflix. I had been looking forward to this sequel, since even though the main character was apparently dead, I figured they would make him survive to lengthen his story. That's exactly what screenwriter Joe Russo and director Sam Hargrave did, after the Streaming platform gave the green light to the development of a continuation, due to the success achieved by the first installment. The original title of these two feature films is “Extraction”, personally I am a bit fussy with the names and I would have preferred that in Latin America it was translated literally as “Extraction” instead of “Rescue mission”. Worse still, it seems to me the title that was given to it in Spain, which is simply the name of the protagonist, Tyler Rake.
In my opinion, this, which until now is a bilogy, is consolidating itself as one of the greatest current exponents of its style, without a doubt it belongs to the new generation of action films and series that in recent years have repositioned the genre, as is the case of the "John Wick" saga and the original production of the Prime Video platform "The Terminal List". In my opinion, their approval by the public has to do mainly with the fact that they are focused more than anything on the action, the fight scenes, shootings and explosions, without being ashamed of it; they have understood what their purpose is, so they do not dwell too much on complex arguments or to comply with certain ideologies, they limit themselves to telling a simple but forceful story with which they manage to make us empathize with the characters, due to their qualities and defects, not simply because they belong to a certain identity group. Then, from that base, they unleash a solid display of graphic violence, without skimping on battle-hardened characters, combat choreography and visual effects, resulting in the kind of entertainment that much of the public wants.

En ambas cintas la narración gira en torno a Tyler Rake, un exmilitar altamente entrenado que se desempeña como mercenario privado, especialista en rescates o extracciones de extremado riesgo. Este hombre carga con un enorme sentimiento de culpa, dado que en el pasado perdió a su hijo quien murió de cáncer a corta edad, pero además también en paralelo perdió su matrimonio, debido a que, durante la etapa terminal de la enfermedad del niño, él sabiéndose incapaz de salvarlo, no tuvo el valor suficiente para permanecer a su lado y verlo morir, así que prefirió irse a combatir en la guerra, usando como pretexto el cumplimiento del deber, para poder alejarse de esa situación que lo destruía por dentro. Cuando el chico murió, Tyler no estuvo presente y ese abandono fue algo que su esposa no pudo perdonarle, de hecho, tampoco él se perdonó a si mismo por ello.
A causa de semejante tragedia familiar, comenzó a tomar misiones cada vez más exageradamente arriesgadas, quizá por un lado para compensar de alguna forma no haber podido salvar a su hijo, rescatando a otras personas de situaciones enormemente peligrosas. Pero, incluso más aun, parece hacerlo intentando encontrar su propia muerte, a modo de auto castigo y a la vez para poner fin a su sufrimiento. En la primera película, él y su equipo son contratados para recuperar al hijo de un narcotraficante indio que fue secuestrado por un narco rival, en esta segunda entrega la misión consiste en extraer de una prisión en Georgia a una mujer y sus dos hijos, donde ella es sometida por su marido, quien es el hermano del más poderoso líder criminal de ese país.
Yo diría, que esta cinta es una especie de John Wick, combinado con la esencia del clásico: “Comando”, que protagonizó Arnold Schwarzenegger en el año 1985, pero por supuesto en un contexto contemporáneo. A diferencia de la tetralogía estelarizada por el actor Keanu Reeves, esta producción de Netflix tiene al menos hasta ahora un carácter más realista, aun cuando hay una exagerada resistencia del personaje principal que lo hace sobrevivir a lesiones que serían mortales en la vida real, pero la atmosfera en que se desenvuelven los hechos es menos fantasiosa y presenta mayor coherencia con el mundo en el que vivimos, lo cual desde mi perspectiva le da un valor extra a esta obra.

In both films, the narrative revolves around Tyler Rake, a highly trained ex-military man who works as a private mercenary, specializing in rescues or extreme risk extractions. This man carries an enormous sense of guilt, given that in the past he lost his son who died of cancer at a young age, but also, in parallel, he also lost his marriage, because, during the terminal stage of the child's illness, he, knowing that he was unable to save him, did not have the courage to stay by his side and watch him die, so he preferred to go fight in the war, using the line of duty as a pretext, in order to get away from that situation that was destroying him inside. When the boy died, Tyler was not present and that abandonment was something that his wife could not forgive him, in fact, he did not forgive himself for it either.
Because of such a family tragedy, he began to take more and more exaggeratedly risky missions, perhaps on the one hand to compensate in some way for not having been able to save his son, rescuing other people from enormously dangerous situations. But, even more so, he seems to do it by trying to find his own death, as a way of self-punishment and at the same time to put an end to his suffering. In the first film, he and his team are hired to recover the son of an Indian drug trafficker who was kidnapped by a rival drug trafficker. In this second installment, the mission consists of extracting a woman and her two children from a prison in Georgia, where she is subjugated by her husband, who is the brother of the most powerful criminal leader in that country.
I would say that this film is a kind of John Wick, combined with the essence of the classic: "Commando", which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1985, but of course in a contemporary context. Unlike the tetralogy starring actor Keanu Reeves, this Netflix production has, at least so far, a more realistic character, even though there is an exaggerated resistance of the main character that makes him survive injuries that would be fatal in real life, but the atmosphere in which the events unfold is less fanciful and more consistent with the world in which we live, which from my perspective gives this work extra value.

En cuanto esta segunda entrega, la cual inicia como es lógico con el protagonista al borde de la muerte, sobreviviendo milagrosamente a las heridas infringidas durante los hechos de la primera película, para rápidamente mostrar su recuperación física y embarcarlo en una nueva aventura, creo que supera ligeramente a su antecesora, debido a que la escala del conflicto es algo mayor y que el efecto sentimental que le otorgan los personajes secundarios de la trama, se me hace mucho más emotivo en esta oportunidad. Realmente los personajes secundarios no es que tengan un desarrollo muy profundo, pero en el caso de los hermanos Nik y Yaz su compromiso y lealtad los hacen ganarse nuestro cariño, por lo que cuando sus vidas corren peligro, eso nos genera una buena dosis de angustia.
Por otra parte, los nuevos personajes no es que tengan mucho carisma ni trasfondo, sin embargo, creo que cumplen un rol muy importante en la construcción del relato y el desarrollo de los acontecimientos, en especial los niños, aun cuando representa un riesgo creativo para los autores, pues podría resultar repetitivo ante el público volver a rescatar niños. Pero, dada la perdida sufrida por Tyler como padre, se vuele entonces narrativamente indispensable utilizar niños como recurso para sustentar sus motivaciones, haciéndolo sentirse obligado a protegerlos. Esto le da consistencia moral a la argumentación y lleva a la audiencia a conectar mejor con los actos del protagonista. Si analizamos el propósito narrativo de esos personajes, su función no es tanto generar empatía hacia ellos mismos, sino más bien contribuir a fortalecer el apego del público hacia el personaje principal.
Volviendo al tema de las condiciones de salud en que Tyler Rake se encuentra al inicio del metraje, creo que esto fue hecho de una forma bastante correcta, ya que no se pasa por alto que es un ser humano y requiere de rehabilitación, pero no se desperdicia demasiado tiempo en ello, sabiendo que la audiencia solo quiere verlo nuevamente en acción. Habiendo dicho esto, creo también que, si algo puede reprochársele a este producto audiovisual, es justamente lo irreal que resulta la recuperación de este hombre luego de semejantes lesiones, no me refiero a que debiera durar mucho tiempo en pantalla su etapa de reposo, sino que se debería dar a entender que pasó más tiempo entre un acontecimiento y otro, pero es algo que como espectador podemos ignorar sin problemas en pro del entretenimiento.

As for this second installment, which logically begins with the protagonist on the verge of death, miraculously surviving the injuries inflicted during the events of the first film, to quickly show his physical recovery and embark him on a new adventure, I think it slightly surpasses its predecessor, because the scale of the conflict is somewhat greater and the sentimental effect given by the secondary characters in the plot makes me much more emotional this time. The secondary characters don't really have a very deep development, but in the case of the brothers Nik and Yaz, their commitment and loyalty earn them our love, so when their lives are in danger, that generates a good dose of anguish.
On the other hand, the new characters do not have much charisma or background, however, I think they play a very important role in the construction of the story and the development of events, especially the children, even when it represents a creative risk for the authors, since it could be repetitive before the public to rescue children again. But, given the loss suffered by Tailer as a father, it then becomes narratively essential to use children as a resource to support his motivations, making him feel obligated to protect them. This gives moral consistency to the argument and leads the audience to better connect with the actions of the protagonist. If we analyze the narrative purpose of these characters, their function is not so much to generate empathy towards themselves, but rather to help strengthen the public's attachment to the main character.
Going back to the health condition that Tailer Rake is in at the beginning of the footage, I think this was done quite correctly, since it doesn't overlook that he is a human being and requires rehabilitation, but not too much time is wasted on it, knowing that the audience just wants to see him back in action. Having said this, I also believe that, if there is something that can be blamed for this audiovisual product, it is precisely how unreal this man's recovery after such injuries is, I am not referring to the fact that his rest period should last a long time on the screen, but rather that it should be implied that more time elapsed between one event and another, but it is something that as a viewer we can safely ignore in favor of entertainment.

Al igual que la anterior, esta película tiene un ritmo arrollador, es una montaña rusa de adrenalina; ese es un elemento distintivo que forma parte de su ADN, lo cual se refleja en la calidad de las escenas de acción de esta secuela, en especial la primera de ellas, que es un falso plano secuencia de aproximadamente media hora de duración. La forma en que los cineastas lograron mantener ese grado de tensión y energía durante tanto tiempo, es un gran merito a nivel técnico, visualmente esa secuencia es impresionante, consiguiendo camuflar los cortes de la cámara y darle así a la escena, la apariencia de haber sido grabada de forma ininterrumpida. Si nos ponemos meticulosos, encontraremos ligeras deficiencias en cuanto a los efectos visuales en determinados pasajes, lo cual no es algo exclusivo de esta obra hoy en día, pero no se trata de problemas demasiado significativos y pueden perfectamente pasar desapercibidos.
Luego del primer acto, la intensidad de la acción en pantalla disminuye un poco, lo que a mi parecer se debe no tanto a que las otras dos sesiones de violencia que le siguen sean flojas, sino a que el nivel de la primera es muy alto, al punto en que posteriormente se siente algo de calma, sin importar que las demás secuencias en que se producen enfrentamientos, tengan también bastante agilidad y dinámismo.
Para mí, “Misión de rescate 2” logra mantener la esencia que hizo triunfar a su predecesora e incluso llega a sobrepasarla en algunos aspectos, en mi caso, satisfizo plenamente las expectativas que traía luego de ver la primera y además la mejora en el apartado emocional. En resumen, "Extraction 2" es una película emocionante y llena de violencia en pantalla casi de principio a fin, con un héroe de acción indetenible, a la vez que humano. La calidad de las escenas de acción es impresionante y la inclusión de los niños y los hermanos Khan le otorgan un carácter emotivo adicional a la historia. Si eres fanático de las películas de acción y buscas entretenimiento sin mayores pretensiones, no puedo dejar de recomendarte este largometraje. Mi calificación final es de 9.5/10.

Like the previous one, this film has an overwhelming rhythm, it is an adrenaline roller coaster; that is a distinctive element that is part of its DNA, which is reflected in the quality of the action scenes in this sequel, especially the first one, which is a false shot sequence that lasts approximately half an hour. The way in which the filmmakers managed to maintain that degree of tension and energy for so long is a great merit on a technical level, visually this sequence is impressive, managing to camouflage the camera cuts and thus give the scene the appearance of having been recorded without interruption. If we are careful, we will find slight deficiencies in terms of visual effects in certain passages, which is not something unique to this work today, but these are not very significant problems and can easily go unnoticed.
After the first act, the intensity of the action on the screen decreases a bit, which in my opinion is due not so much to the fact that the other two sessions of violence that follow are weak, but rather to the fact that the level of the first one is very high, to the point where later on it feels somewhat calm, regardless of the fact that the other sequences in which confrontations take place are also quite agile and dynamic.
For me, "Rescue Mission 2" manages to maintain the essence that made its predecessor succeed and even surpasses it in some aspects, in my case, it fully satisfied the expectations that I had after seeing the first one and also the improvement in the emotional section. In summary, "Extraction 2" is an exciting and violent movie on screen almost from beginning to end, with an unstoppable action hero, as well as human. The quality of the action scenes is impressive and the inclusion of the children and the Khan brothers give an additional emotional character to the story. If you're a fan of action movies and you're looking for unpretentious entertainment, I can't stop recommending this feature film. My final rating is 9.5/10.
