Hoy quiero cambiar momentáneamente el formato en el que suelo formular mis publicaciones, que es el de las reseñas de películas y series, para en este caso hacer una especie de ensayo respecto al neologismo “Cinemero” y su comparación con el concepto de Cinéfilo, expresando mi punto de vista en relación a su significado y la validez que pueda tener su uso al referirnos a determinado tipo de consumidores o fanáticos del cine. Cabe resaltar que hasta el momento, la palabra Cinemero no ha sido reconocida por la Real Academia Española, que es la institución por antonomasia en todo lo que tiene que ver con la regularización y normativización de la lengua española, pero el uso de este término ha venido incrementando su popularidad en los últimos tiempos, especialmente en las comunidades en línea afines al contenido cinematográfico y televisivo.
El vocablo cinéfilo o cinéfila, según el Diccionario de la Lengua Española de la RAE, significa simplemente “Aficionado al cine” (o aficionada en el caso femenino), de modo que cualquier persona que sienta afición por el cine o en otras palabras le guste disfrutar de las películas de cine, debe ser considerado como perteneciente a esta calificación, sin importar que esta persona sea experta o no en todo lo relacionado con esta disciplina artística. Es decir, que oficialmente son tan cinéfilos quienes van al cine a consumir productos cinematográficos, entendiéndolos como una forma de entretenimiento y sin prestar mayor atención a los elementos técnicos y artísticos que los conforman, como los apasionados del séptimo arte, que otorgan especial atención a los detalles propios de la producción de cada obra, como el grado de exigencia actoral que representan las escenas para los actores que conforman el reparto, la originalidad y profundidad del guion, la belleza de la fotografía o la consonancia de la banda sonora con cada secuencia del metraje.
Sin embargo, se ha venido volviendo común que se asocie a la palabra Cinéfilo, con el tipo de aficionados al cine que son expertos en esos detalles técnicos de los que he comentado antes y que no simplemente son consumidores de las películas como una forma de entretenimiento, sino que están apasionados por este arte y son capaces de analizar sus obras con un nivel de profundidad teórica bastante alto. Por lo tanto, se suele decir que quienes simplemente les gusta ver películas por mero entretenimiento, sin prestar demasiado interés en todo el trasfondo que envuelve al proceso de producción cinematográfica, no son verdaderos cinéfilos.

Today I want to momentarily change the format in which I usually formulate my publications, which is that of movie and series reviews, in this case to make a kind of essay regarding the neologism “Cinemero” (moviegoer) and its comparison with the concept of Cinephile, expressing my point of view in relation to its meaning and the validity that its use may have when referring to a certain type of consumer or film fanatic. It should be noted that until now, the word Cinemero (moviegoer) has not been recognized by the Royal Spanish Academy, which is the institution par excellence in everything that has to do with the regularization and standardization of the Spanish language, but the use of this term has It has been increasing in popularity in recent times, especially in online communities related to film and television content.
The word cinephile or cinephile, according to the Dictionary of the Spanish Language of the RAE, simply means "Film Fan" (or fan in the female case), so that anyone who feels fond of cinema or in other words likes enjoy movies, should be considered as belonging to this qualification, regardless of whether or not this person is an expert in everything related to this artistic discipline. In other words, those who go to the cinema to consume cinematographic products, understanding them as a form of entertainment and without paying much attention to the technical and artistic elements that make them up, are officially just as movie buffs as those who are passionate about the seventh art, who pay special attention to the details of the production of each work, such as the degree of acting demand that the scenes represent for the actors that make up the cast, the originality and depth of the script, the beauty of the photography or the consonance of the soundtrack with each sequence of the footage.
However, it has become common for the word cinephile to be associated with the type of movie fans who are experts in those technical details that I have mentioned before and who are not simply consumers of movies as a form of entertainment. , but they are passionate about this art and are able to analyze their works with a fairly high level of theoretical depth. Therefore, it is often said that those who simply like to watch movies for mere entertainment, without paying much attention to the background that surrounds the film production process, are not true movie buffs.
El detalle está, en que existen personas muy fanáticas del cine, a quienes les gusta mucho ver películas de diferentes géneros y que acuden regularmente a las salas en que estas se proyectan, pero no poseen ni pretenden poseer un nivel teórico elevado y evalúan la calidad de cada filme en función de la experiencia personal que experimentan al verla, no en base a conocimientos teóricos. Es por ello, que popularmente ha surgido el término Cinemero, como una nueva calificación en la cual agrupar a estos aficionados al cine, que consumen las producciones cinematográficas de manera más relajada. Desde otra perspectiva, se puede entender a la palabra cinemero, como un calificativo despectivo o peyorativo, que tiene como propósito denigrar a quienes consumen cine comercial y carecen del criterio necesario para apreciar debidamente las obras del cine de autor o el cine independiente.
La diferencia entre un tipo de público y otro es sutil, cuando se dice que un cinemero ve una película por mero entretenimiento, eso no significa que estos espectadores no tomen en cuenta cosas como la calidad visual de la película, lo convincentes que puedan ser las actuaciones o la complejidad de la trama, tampoco significa que un cinéfilo con conocimientos profundos sobre cine no se entretenga al ver una película y solo piense en quien escribió el guion o quien dirigió el rodaje. En todo caso, lo que constituye la diferencia, es la perspectiva desde la cual cada grupo de aficionados formula sus criterios a la hora de evaluar la calidad de una obra cinematográfica, puede prevalecer el simple entretenimiento o puede tener mayor relevancia la profundidad técnica de la producción.

From another perspective, the word cinemero can be understood as a derogatory or pejorative adjective, whose purpose is to denigrate those who consume commercial cinema and lack the necessary criteria to properly appreciate the works of auteur cinema or independent cinema.
The difference between one type of public and another is subtle, when it is said that a moviegoer watches a film for mere entertainment, that does not mean that these viewers do not take into account things such as the visual quality of the film, how convincing the performances or the complexity of the plot, does not mean that a movie buff with deep knowledge of cinema is not entertained when watching a movie and only think about who wrote the script or who directed the shooting. In any case, what makes the difference is the perspective from which each group of fans formulates its criteria when evaluating the quality of a cinematographic work, simple entertainment may prevail or the technical depth of the film may have greater relevance. production.
Es complicado determinar objetivamente que grupo debe considerarse como cinéfilo (aficionado al cine), quienes dan preponderante importancia a la parte técnica de la producción y desarrollo de las cintas, o quienes privilegian la experiencia del visionado en función de sus gustos personales, sin más filtros teóricos que sus propias preferencias. De hecho, particularmente opino que todos los fanáticos del cine que preferimos las películas por encima de otros medios de entretenimiento o expresiones artísticas, debemos ser catalogados como cinéfilos; ya luego de eso podrían existir calificativos complementarios y más específicos como, por ejemplo, pudieran ser: cinéfilos ortodoxos y cinéfilos heterodoxos.
Por otro lado, pudiera ser un poco más sencillo determinar que la palabra cinemero es inadecuada, pues no está avalada por la academia y ha surgido de la expresión popular, como una forma de categorizar al público consumidor de cine, en bloques aproximadamente equivalentes a expertos e inexpertos, de forma similar a como los términos Chef y Cocinero, discriminan a quienes preparan alimentos según su nivel de conocimientos. Pero, el lenguaje no es algo rígido e inmutable, por el contrario, sus normativas se adaptan al uso cotidiano que las personas le dan en la calle, de modo que, el hecho de que esta palabra no haya sido hasta ahora asumida como oficial, no quiere decir que sea totalmente inválido utilizarla y no pueda llegar en el futuro a oficializarse.

But, the language is not something rigid and immutable, on the contrary, its regulations adapt to the daily use that people give it in the street, so that, the fact that this word has not been assumed as official until now, It does not mean that it is totally invalid to use it and that it cannot become official in the future.
Mas allá de que demos por correcto o no el uso del neologismo Cinemero, para referirnos a personas a las que les gusta el cine, pero que a la vez no poseen conocimientos respecto a sus procedimientos y técnicas; también cabe preguntarnos, ¿Tiene mayor valor el arte únicamente por lo complejo que haya sido llegar a desarrollarlo? ¿Está mal que una obra de arte sea consumida por una parte de su público como un producto de puro entretenimiento? ¿Es correcto que se denigre como ignorante a determinado público por tener gustos que no coincidan con la opinión de los expertos técnicos? ¿Acaso el arte no se caracteriza por ofrecer diferentes significados y producir distintas experiencias según la óptica desde la que se le observe?
La verdad absoluta es una quimera, cada uno puede darle a esto su propia interpretación, para algunos quienes consumen películas comerciales y Blockbusters, son personas incultas que no tienen aprecio por el cine y están causando la destrucción del séptimo arte. Por otro lado, están quienes creen que las personas apasionadas por la cultura cinematográfica y sus pormenores más específicos, son fundamentalistas pretenciosos, que en lugar de disfrutar de las películas y divertirse con ellas, se dedican a examinarlas e inspeccionarlas exhaustivamente para encontrarles defectos técnicos y así autosatisfacer su propio ego, creyéndose superiores por ello.
A mi manera de verlo, en la vida muy pocas veces nos encontramos con cosas que son metafóricamente del todo blancas o negras, mucho menos cuando se trata de algo tan subjetivo como la calidad de una obra de arte, normal es encontrar muchas diferentes escalas de grises. Por lo tanto, en lo que respecta a los fanáticos del cine, probablemente la mayor parte no seamos totalmente de un tipo o de otro, habrá quienes tengan mayor formación teórica y amor por los procedimientos técnicos del cine, siendo capaces de detectar elementos que para otros espectadores pasarían desapercibidos, habrá quienes deseen solo entretenimiento sin prestar atención a nada más, pero de seguro la mayor parte de cinéfilos o cinemeros es la que busca entretenimiento y a la vez presta mayor o menor atención a determinados factores técnicos. Personalmente me considero parte de este grupo, aunque con mayor inclinación hacia la clasificación de cinemero.

Is it correct that a certain public is denigrated as ignorant for having tastes that do not coincide with the opinion of technical experts? Is art not characterized by offering different meanings and producing different experiences depending on the point of view from which it is observed?
The absolute truth is a chimera, everyone can give this their own interpretation, for some who consume commercial movies and Blockbusters, are uneducated people who have no appreciation for cinema and are causing the destruction of the seventh art. On the other hand, there are those who believe that people who are passionate about film culture and its more specific details are pretentious fundamentalists, who instead of enjoying movies and having fun with them, dedicate themselves to thoroughly examining and inspecting them to find technical defects and thus self-satisfying their own ego, believing themselves superior for it.
The way I see it, in life we very rarely come across things that are metaphorically completely black or white, much less when it comes to something as subjective as the quality of a work of art, it is normal to find many different scales of greys. So, as far as movie fans are concerned, probably most of us are not totally one type or the other, there will be those who have more theoretical training and love for the technical procedures of cinema, being able to detect elements that for other viewers would go unnoticed, there will be those who just want entertainment without paying attention to anything else, but surely the majority of moviegoers or moviegoers is the one who seeks entertainment and at the same time pays more or less attention to certain technical factors. I personally consider myself part of this group, although with a greater inclination towards the cinemero classification.
