I was excited when I saw that the Lord of the Flies had a series and was very much looking forward to it. I couldn't make it through a single episode and found it extremely boring. Perhaps this is because the film and the book were already perfect and I guess there wasn't really any way for them to improve upon this.

While I've never read this book, I've heard numerous times from friends (who have different worldviews, attitudes toward literature, and perspectives on various topics) that this book, or Heart of Darkness, for example, is excellent. Several of these friends wondered if the book could be improved upon and, after some thought, decided that it couldn't be improved upon, because it's perfect.
I plan to watch the series, but I don't know what will come of it.

If all goes well, I'll be changing jobs this month and have more time for myself. I'll probably take advantage of the opportunity, especially since I can always borrow it from the library. Thanks for the recommendation.
