Truly Naked (film): an uncomfortable watch but with some good points
First off before I delve into this film I want to say that you definitely do NOT want to watch this film with your parents or children or maybe anyone for that matter, lol.
It is extremely adult-oriented and the description of the film alone is probably warning enough about this. I cannot imagine how tough this would have been for the actors involved to shoot this, particularly the young boy who plays the son of a male porn star.

They certainly don't waste any time getting to let you know exactly what you are in for with this one. In the first scene of the movie there is an extremely graphic sex scene the likes of which you normally would only be able to see if you were searching the internet for porn. I mean it is really graphic.
The story here isn't the gyrating woman painted in gold or the older dude with a massive "equipment" but rather that young boy that is calmly filming all of it. Caolán O'Gorman, who is completely unknown in my world plays the role of Alec, who is an introverted kid whose only experience with sex is by being the cameraman and editor for his father's porn career.
It's uncomfortable to think about and very taboo, it's even more uncomfortable to watch. I can't imagine how tough it would have been to film and act in.

Alec doesn't think there is anything wrong about what he is doing. He and his father have a pretty normal existence despite the business that they are involved in. Alec isn't ashamed of what he and his father do and it isn't until some bullying starts happening at school that he fights back against it. SIDENOTE: Bullying is bad!
The real message here is tough to figure out, but the main focus behind this might be some sort of anti-pornography point that is being made. Alec has a difficult time having a normal relationship with a girl because he has distorted ideas about what sex is based on his only experience with it being very very hardcore.
I think this could be a very real aspect of society because porn definitely does give people an unrealistic idea about what that particular bedroom activity is actually like.
I don't want to get into details because I am a bit uncomfortable talking about it even though none of you can actually answer me right away: But I do think there is a lot of truth to what they are trying to say here. The people that are starring in the films aren't necessarily "into" what they are doing but the perverse audience demands it and therefore they comply.

Alec is actually a very intelligent and well-rounded individual who just has one flaw in that he believes, based on his experience filming and taking photos of this stuff his dad does, that this is the way that sex actually is. I know this is a bit of a stretch from the story-teller's perspective, I think that most young adults are aware of the fact that exciting threesomes filled with toys and whips and full on body paint isn't at all normal. The point is still there though and it is something that isn't spoken about a great deal. In the day and age of nearly 10% of all women in USA between 18-25 having an OnlyFans, there might be a small chance that the pornography industry could be a bit damaging to some people.
This is one of those "coming of age" movies, I guess, but with an angle that probably hasn't actually been experienced by anyone and if it did, the police would probably be informed and Alec would not longer be permitted to live with his father. There isn't much mention of where the mother is but the relationship between the two of them is actually pretty good and I would like to believe that if such a situation actually DID exist that it would be as healthy as this one is.

It touches base on a lot of important teenage/young adult topics, I guess. IN the end though it is really far-fetched but that doesn't make the whole message untrue. There probably are a TON of people out there that are addicted to porn and because of the impossible standards that are created in that fictional world, they find normal relationships, even sexual ones, to be boring by comparison.
At least that was my take on it.
Should I watch it?
Well, it might actually be illegal to do so in whatever country you are in so be real careful with that one. I don't think anyone is going to want to watch this with other people, I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable doing so.
I do think that there is a good message in here though that should probably be heeded by a lot of people out there though. Real human connection isn't on a porn set and while this example is completely fictional, I do think it does a good job of getting its message across.
Given the amount of sex and nudity in this film I am going to go ahead and warn you that this is just a few steps away from being actual porn, so be warned.

this one is going to prove difficult to find if you want to see it. It is legally available for streaming on AppleTV+ but it is regionally locked. It is available for rent on many other providers
