How Moving Pictures started

Seems this is indeed to first film (not movie maybe) ever taped - by French astronomer P.J.C. Janssen. Monsieur came up with the idea for a "revolver to shoot the individual". The huge and massive camera model used a Maltese cross-type mechanism ad could have been the basis (as similar) for the later development of movie cameras.

What has he captured?

A 5 second film with two transits of Venus, the one of 1874 in Japan, and that of 1882 at Oran, in Algeria. Many consider this as the first movie in history.

Pierre Jules César Janssen was a French astronomer who is credited with discovering the gaseous nature of the solar chromosphere (just say Helium!).
