Always Home: Nostalgia, Comfort,and Healing

Trust you’re having a great day and also enjoy your weekend as usual. Today, I bring your premium update on this show I’ve been binging for a few days now.

Let’s say I’m currently in my Chinese drama era once again and I know there’s a lot of you out there who lover Chinese drama and so I thought to share this with you. This show is actually not your regular Chinese or Korean drama series with the same old plot, it brings you something different that you would love so let’s dive into it.

This series tells us the story of Chen Huan Er , a young girl from a small county in the western side of the country called Sishui. Sishui is know for its beautiful beaches , foods and flowers and growing up there was a great experience for Chen Huan Er .

But, Chen Huan Er has to move to the city with her mom who is a health worker who just got transferred to the city. Her father on the other hand was a martial arts teacher and so he decided to stay back in Sishui for work and be visiting Chen Huan Er and her mom in the city from time to time.

Chen Huan Er and her mom moved to the city and were finally settling in, in the family apartment they had in a compound house full of health workers and their families. The good part of their moving in was the fact that Chen Huan Ers mom had her old time friends who were now health workers also living in that compound.

They settled in and soon enough, Chen Huan Er made friends with Jing Xi Chi and Song Cong who were the children of two of Chen Huan Ers moms friends. As time went by, Chen Huan Er developed a strong friendship with Jing Xi Chi and Song Cong as she was the only lady in their friend group. They went to school together and walked back home together all the time. After their first exam, Chen Huan Er’s grades were really poor and that let Jing Xi Chi to ask Song Cong to tutor Chen Huan Er after school. That was how they all formed a study group where they would meet and learn at each others houses after school.

Soon enough, Chen Huan Ers friend from school, Qi Qi who happened to have a crush on Song Cong decided to join their study group just so she could get closer to him. But as kids, none of them knew that was the reason Qi Qi joined their study group. However, all of a sudden she decides to drop out of their study group and also end her friendship with Chen Huan Er because she was jealous that she had other friends aside her.

Life still went on for Chen Huan Er and her friends, Jing Xi Chi and Song Cong as they grew stronger by the day, battling lives challenges like the time Jing Xi Chi had an ACL tear, when Song Congs mother was hospitalised by an accident that happened during her shift at work and when Jing Xi Chi lost his dad. Having been able to make it through all these just as teenagers, would they be able to maintain their friendship as they leave high school to college, and as they all undergo various life changes or would love separate them as time goes on? You’d have to find out

I’d rate this series a 9/10 because it was really good. For a while now, I just seem to stop watching Korean and Chinese drama halfway because they all seem to have the same plot and nothing too special about them.

But this show looked beyond the love and romance plots and actually gave us something more different. The show dived into a he importance of family and friends in one’s life and how far we can go just with the right type of company around us. I really enjoyed every bit of this show and I’d totally recommend it to anyone out there.
