THE PLOT

Shazia Bano , a young lady find herself falling in love with a renowned lawyer Mohammed Abbas Khan and this love slowly grew to the extent that they decided to get married. They did get married and everything was going on well. They had their first kid, and then the second and they were pregnant with their third kid.

This is where the problems began. Mohamed all of a sudden became distant while Shazia on the other had yearned for her husband. They barely had time to talk as a couple and it was starting to have a toll on her. In the midst of all this, Shazia tries her best to get her husband back by planning something nice for their anniversary which didn’t end well for her. Her husband humiliated her at his work premises and the next thing she knows is that, her husband is on his way to a far away place for work.

He was to be back home in 3 weeks but three weeks turned to three months. She was happy to have her husband back but little did she know he was returning home with a wife and a law ass story to back that up. Her mother in law also came along to try to convince her. Long story short, she wasn’t happy. The next couple of weeks were hell for her as she was still trying to come to terms with the fact that her husband brought in a second wife without her knowledge.

But that was the a tip of the iceberg. Apparently, her husband had already planned on marrying this new lady even before he met Shazia but unfortunately, this lady was give off for marriage to another man. She has lost her husband and that was how Mohammed rushed on a supposed ‘work trip’ to go and marry her.

Sooner than later,Shazia’s marriage was nothing to write home about and her husband at some point refused to take care of she and her 3 kids which sent her back to her parents home for help. Eventually, Mohammed divorced Shazia three times as tradition demands and her stuff were all sent back to her parents home.

She didn’t mind getting a divorce but her kids needed to be cared for by their father who refused to. So, she took the step to consult the community leaders who did nothing about it. Next, with support from her husband, she took her case to court where she met a great lawyer who stood by her all the way. They moved from circuit court to high court up until they reached the supreme court. You wouldn’t be this case was dragged on for 10 good years but at the end of the day, justice for serve for Shazia and her kids.

MY THOUGHTS AND RATING

I would rate this movie a 10/10 because from my research, it based based on a true life story and this story reflects the stories of so many women out there today who are being suppressed all in the name of religion.

This movie tells us to seek for what is rightfully ours and fight till the very end for justice. Most women out there are going through a lot in the hands of men. This story is one that tells us to push and never give up. Everyone deserves to change to tell their story and seek justice. I’d recommend this movie to everyone out there.
hope you enjoy it.
