On a normal day, this wouldn’t be my type of movie but I guess something in me just pushed me to see it. So, let’s get right into it.

THE PLOT

This movie dives into the life of Baron, a small town boy who works at the post office, deliver graphic and letters to the people in his community every day. Baron is the only child of this mother, Mama Eda who has been bed ridden for so long and survives on oxygen. The only way Baron is able to take care of his mom is by working at the post office.

But somehow, Baron finds himself in prison , sharing his unfortunate love story with his cell mate, Otis and asking him to help him escape in exchange for $250,000. It all started when Baron loses his job one day all because his boss wanted him to cut off his long hair and he didn’t wish to do that. Devastated , Baron couldn’t go home and ended up in the park, lying down on the grass but all of a sudden, a car rolls up on him and right before him is the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Carefree, hair dyed pink and just bubbly. Her name was Marmalade.

She was new to town and within an hour of them meeting, they had gotten so close enough for him to allow her stay the night at his home. This was the start of their love story. Marmalade grew up being abused as a child and when the chance came to get out of that life, she did. Before Baron knew it, he was always in love with Marmalade and she even brought an idea for them to rob a bank in order to be able to afford Mama Eda’s drugs which had become very expensive for him to afford.

Blinded by love, he decided to go along with the plan. It took days and weeks to plan this whole thing but at the end of the day, the D-day came. But by then, his mom had already been gone. They still went ahead to to rob the bank anyways and go a lot of money. But before they could escape, the cops raided their house and Baron had to give himself up so that Marmalade could escape. Before they parted ways, they planned to meet at their secret spot at 3pm the next day and if one of them didn’t show up, the other should disappear forever.

Touched by this story, his cell mate, Otis (who was an undercover FBI hunting Marmalade for years ) posing as a criminal decided to help him escape. But little did he know that he was driving the FBI straight to Marmalade. His cell mate managed to get him out of prison a few hours to 3pm so he could meet the love of his life, Marmalade. With the car key he was given during his escape, he drove this car to different spots. First, he got some snacks, flowers and made a final stop to get gas, but that was where the FBI lost him. He payed the gas agent to drive his car for a huge sum of money and the FBI found out a little late.

But he left clues clues for them and Agent Otis was smart enough to follow them. At the end of the day, they find out that Marmalade wasn’t really a real life character but rather a figment of his imagination made to look real. In short, Baron was marmalade and he was robbing banks to take care of him mom and also indirectly stealing from the pharmaceutical companies selling his moms drugs.

MY THOUGHTS AND RATING

I’d rate this movie a 9/10 because the director managed to trick me with the plot. I didn’t really know what it as expecting from this movie but I think I got more than I expected.

I’m still in shock as I’m writing this because it took me close to an hour to understand the whole plot after watching the show. A nice way to put my brain at work on this lazy Saturday. This movie, is really one to see. Smartness at its peak!

9/10?ouuuu
Im watching this. And the way you got tricked? I also want to be tricked like that especially because it’s a heist movie.

Haha. It’s not really a heist. More of a low budget heist.😂
