Mission Majnu: Duty, Love, and Sacrifice

Every week, my movie preference seems to change and it’s even a mystery to me now. Last week, I was seeing horror movies and all of a sudden I’m seeing history movies. It’s great though and I love this new twist in my movie preference because I’m getting to learn a lot about the history of many countries.

Today, let’s go all the way to India as I take you through a happening during the Second World War. Stay glued.

During the Indo-Pakistani war in 1971 , both countries wanted to build nuclear weapons in order to defeat each other but to do this, they needed permission to go head. India was able to secure permission to build a nuclear weapon but Pakistan managed to get the committee to disapprove the approval again with claims that it was a risk to their country.

Little did India know that amidst all the fuss, Pakistan had gone behind their backs and that of the association to start building their own nuclear weapon without any approval. Now, here’s where the hard work of the RAW agents from India come in useful. Amandeep Singh, the head of RAW in India is sent to Pakistan under cover to find out if Pakistan was building a nuclear weapon. He was ready to put his life on the line for his country because he grew up being known as the son of the traitor as his father had betrayed their country and he wanted to right that wrong.

While in Pakistan, he fell in love with Nasreen, a blind lady and ends up marrying her whole working as a tailor in her uncles shop to earn a living. While doing this, he was also working undercover with two others, the Imam and a tea seller to find out where Pakistans nuclear bomb was located. To find where the facility was located, he had to go to great lengths but eventually he was able to make out the location which he immediately informed his superiors about back in India since they were planning an attack on Pakistan and had got a wrong location.

This new update was able to help India abort the mission to attack the Pakistani nuclear weapon site of which they had the wrong location. This went a long way to prevent another war between both countries. But, Amandeep Singhs life was in the line now as the Pakistani’s got to know that that Indians knew about their nuclear weapon. At the end of the day, he sacrificed his life for the woman he loved and his country.

I’d give movie a rating to 11/10 because it was more than the word good. There’s one thing about Indian movies which I just can’t seem to wrap my head around, they’re just good and this is no exception.

This movie dived into every detail of what happened during those days and managed to captured all the moments. I really loved every bit of it and I’m sure you’d also love it. So, if you have about two hours of free time, do make sure to see this movie.
