Adapt or die.
I'm watching Billions at the momenta and love it's fast pace and ruthless aggression. All of the activity is centered around Axe capital and their trading deals as a large hedge fund. Some legal and some illegal.
The team working there are not quite Wolf of wall street levels of criminality and debauchery but they live on the edge with their business and the SEC.
A lot like crypto where most of the time is spent between surviving bear markets and trying to build cutting edge technology and building the right positions to take advantage of it when the time comes.
I'm currently on season two episode six where Axe capitol has acquired a whole town by buying their bad dept in anticipation of a new casino getting planning permission and adding huge value to the town land. When the deal doesn't go through they suddenly have a whole lot of land and debt that is only going to lose value and cost them a huge chunk of their capital.
As the team tries to find a way out of the situation they can go full austerity and claim on the debt forcing the town and it's people to pay up on the debt that they owe at any cost. Close schools, reduce resources, increase taxes ect...
Or as they put it.
The town needs to adapt or die.
If they can't become lean enough to survive on the remaining resources then they don't deserve to exist.
It's the same for any business or person out there and a good lesson to take.
If you are struggling then trim the fat. Cut out the unnecessary costs. Combine expenses. Get rid of anything that doesn't 100% need to be part of it.
Break it down to the basics and start all over again.
Hive could do well to take this lesson on as well. At the moment we are doing some good things but overall Hive is treading water. Realistically we could cut out 100% of the DHF payouts and it wouldn't effect the chain. It would reduce the printing of extra hive. Put less sell pressure on the markets and overall help the chain.
See what projects have no future or not adding anything to the chain and cut those too.
Combine resources into the areas that are brining in users, that are generating revenue, that are building infrastructure.
Build bridges to other chains and combine resources with similar minded eco-systems to increase both our resources and userbases. Multiple log ins to apps and start focusing on growth.
Just a though.....

Billions is awesome, sadly I didn’t have the chance to finish the third season. But I’ll try to get the series illegally somewhere
The scene you described from Billions truly captures the harsh reality of the financial world
A sharp analogy ... sometimes survival, whether for towns, businesses, or blockchains like Hive, means making tough, lean choices to secure long-term strength.
I recently found out finished season 7, the 5D chess on some scenes are beyond comprehensible for me. Definitely a great series with many life anecdotes. I'm not sure if she has showed up yet but Taylor Mason is a really wonderful smart character too!
