[ENG/ESP] NO SPOILERS | ANALYZING THE HUNGER GAMES SAGA | ANALIZANDO LA SAGA DE LOS JUEGOS DEL HAMBRE |

¡Hola, hivers! ¿Cómo están? Espero que se encuentren todos bien, llevaba un rato sin publicar por acá y estuve pensando con qué tema me gustaría retornar a esta comunidad. Entonces recordé que, cuando se trata de cine, hay una saga en especial que se robó mi corazón en el 2012 y fue para siempre: La Tetralogía De los Juegos Del Hambre.

Pero más que un resumen quería evaluar cómo después de tantos años aún sigue siendo tema de conversación y una película vigente cuando el resto de las obras de Saga Distópica Adolescente como Maze Runner o Divergente han envejecido para mal. Con Los Juegos Del Hambre hay algo que va más allá de lo mágico, entonces hoy les traigo un análisis de por qué está tan bien hecha y ha sido tan bien recibida por el público.

Por encima de lo que sabemos todos los que hemos visto las películas (que tiene personajes de ternura, frases épicas y un buen ritmo), creo que a nivel de estructura nos deja mucho más.

Katniss Everdeen, luego de la muerte de su padre, solo ha buscado una cosa: proteger a su hermana Prim incluso cuando esto represente romper leyes o jugarse la vida. En Panem., un país dictatorial controlado por el Presidente Snow, quien luego de que su pueblo se revelara los obligó por 74 años a que los 12 distritos entregaran por sorteo a dos adolescentes para jugar a muerte entre sí con un solo ganador y así pagar su “deuda” con el gobierno.

Es el primer año de Prim nominada a participar en estos juegos y cuando las probabilidades (que eran pocas) juegan en su contra y es elegida, Katniss solo tiene una opción: ofrecerse en su lugar y quebrar un sistema que sólo le ha proporcionado sufrimiento.

No les voy a mentir, Los Juegos Del Hambre es una saga con partes lentas como su tercera entrega e incluso parte de la primera; pero si algo la caracteriza es que se toma el tiempo de construir a Panem como el país distópico que es, explicar el por qué de muchas cosas y de hacerte sentir inquieto, frustrado y confundido con el ambiente y a la vez te muestra cómo en un mundo político no hay personas idílicas, la mayoría tienen corrientes de pensamiento divididas dentro de sí mismos y a lo largo de las películas ya sabes quién es cada uno y cómo funciona este mundo, eso me lleva al siguiente punto

Panem y la guerra de poder que se desata, evoca conductas que no están lejos de la realidad política humana actual que puedo resumir en tres puntos importantes.

Es un ciclo sin fin por el poder donde el esclavo que se pinta como “revolucionario” muchas veces lo único que busca es suplantar al amo, no cambiar el sistema.

La historia de lo que sucedió y lo que es la paz está contada siempre desde el punto de vista del sobreviviente o ganador.

Los medios de comunicación (que tienen un rol muy importante en las películas) son los encargados de manejar la opinión pública a su antojo.

Si bien es una película para adolescentes, y muchas veces el amor es el gancho para una parte del público, en esta saga no cae en lo cliché. Los dos intereses amorosos de Katniss no están ahí para aliviar, ni de relleno. Son parte activa de la trama.

Uno representa esa parte de Katniss oprimida y llena de venganza que desea integrarse al sistema como una luchadora más y otro ser en busca de poder para usarlo en contra de sus enemigos como ya lo hace el sistema actual de su mundo; y por otro lado tenemos a su parte más dulce que no quiere jugar en el tablero del sistema y quiere ser leal a sí misma a pesar de todo.

Y esta lucha de Katniss no solo la tenemos de forma ideológica sino proyectada entre dos hombres que son similares a partes de ella y que escoger a uno de ellos implica tomar una decisión certera de quién va a ser en realidad, no es un romance tonto, ESTÁ PENSADO PARA QUE TENGA QUE INFLUÍR EN LA TRAMA. Prometí no hacer spoiler, así que no puedo decirles qué lado escoge :(

La mayoría de distopías adolescentes no son tan sólidas como porque en las entregas posteriores siempre parecen olvidar el mismo mundo que nos han presentado y las decisiones que los personajes tomaron según sus ideales. En Los Juegos Del Hambre lo respetan e incluso cuando hacen cambios se explica por qué y tengo un ejemplo perfecto de ello con un personaje que parece ser parte del sistema y sin cerebro y poco a poco notas la chispa rebelde en él.

Esto ya es meramente personal, pero qué placer como lectora ver tan bien representados los personajes en la pantalla y que respeten la esencia. Claro que hubo cambios, pero les juro que la mayoría de cosas están en pantalla.

Pero eh, esa es mi opinión, y me gustaría saber cuál es la tuya. Hasta acá mi pequeño análisis de Los Juegos Del Hambre espero que les haya gustado mucho y quizá abierto un par de perspectivas. Coméntame abajo si viste estas películas y si te gustan tanto como a mí.

Hello, hivers! How are you? I hope you're all well, I haven't posted here for a while and I was thinking about what topic I'd like to return to this community. Then I remembered that, when it comes to movies, there is a special saga that stole my heart in 2012 and it was forever: The Hunger Games Tetralogy.

But more than a summary I wanted to evaluate how after so many years it is still a topic of conversation and a current movie when the rest of the Teen Dystopian Saga works like Maze Runner or Divergent have aged for the worse. With The Hunger Games there is something beyond magical, so today I bring you an analysis of why it is so well made and has been so well received by audiences.

On top of what all of us who have seen the movies know (that it has characters of tenderness, epic one-liners and good pacing), I think on a structural level it leaves us with so much more.

Katniss Everdeen, after the death of her father, has sought only one thing: to protect her sister Prim even when it means breaking laws or risking her life. In Panem, a dictatorial country controlled by President Snow, who, after his people rebelled, forced them for 74 years to have the 12 districts draw lots to give two teenagers to play to death against each other with only one winner to pay their “debt” to the government. .

It is Prim's first year nominated to participate in these games and when the odds (which were few) play against her and she is chosen, Katniss has only one option: to volunteer in her place and break a system that has only brought her suffering.

I'm not going to lie to you, The Hunger Games is a saga with slow parts like its third installment and even part of the first; but if something characterizes it is that it takes the time to build Panem as the dystopian country it is, explaining the why of many things and making you feel restless, frustrated and confused with the environment and at the same time it shows you how in a political world there are no idyllic people, most of them have divided currents of thought within themselves and throughout the movies you know who each one is and how this world works, that brings me to the next point:

Panem and the power war that is unleashed, evokes behaviors that are not far from the current human political reality that I can summarize in three important points.

It is an endless cycle for power, where the slave who is painted as a “revolutionary” often seeks only to supplant the master, not to change the system.

The story of what happened and what peace is is always told from the point of view of the survivor or winner.

The media (which play a very important role in the movies) are in charge of managing public opinion as they please.

While this is a teen movie, and often love is the hook for a portion of the audience, in this saga it doesn't fall into cliché. Katniss' two love interests are not there for relief or filler. They are an active part of the plot.

One represents that part of Katniss oppressed and full of vengeance that wants to integrate into the system as a fighter and another being in search of power to use it against her enemies as the current system of her world already does; and on the other hand we have her sweeter side that does not want to play on the board of the system and wants to be loyal to herself despite everything.

And this struggle of Katniss not only we have it in an ideological way but projected between two men who are similar to parts of her and that choosing one of them implies making a certain decision of who she is really going to be, it's not a silly romance, IT'S DESIGNED TO HAVE TO INFLUENCE THE PLOT. I promised not to make spoilers, so I can't tell you which side she chooses :(

Most teen dystopias aren't as solid as because in later installments they always seem to forget the same world we've been introduced to and the decisions the characters made according to their ideals. In The Hunger Games they respect that and even when they make changes it is explained why and I have a perfect example of that with a character who seems to be part of the system and no brain and little by little you notice the rebellious spark in him.

This is already purely personal, but what a pleasure as a reader to see the characters so well represented on screen and that they respect the essence. Of course there were changes, but I swear most things are on screen. .
