Hello, Hive people, how are you? I hope your day has been great. Yesterday I was talking on my blog about a movie where everything is right and just last week I saw a movie where everything was wrong: "Game Night" or "Noche de Juegos" in Latin America.

I think the advent of streaming platforms makes watching movies without knowing much about them a bit behind, so I started looking for a movie I haven't heard of and I came across this 2018 film, when I saw Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams I said, "this is going to be hilarious". Spoiler: I was bored out of my mind.
Creo que la llegada de las plataformas de streaming hace que el ver películas sin conocer mucho de ellas se haya quedado un poco atrás, entonces comencé a buscar una película de la que no haya escuchado mencionar y di con esta cinta del 2018, cuando vi a Jason Bateman y a Rachel McAdams dije: “esto va a ser divertidísimo”. Spoiler: me aburrí un montón.
Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams play Max and Annie, whose weekly couples' game night is enhanced when Max's charismatic brother Brooks (Kyle Chandler) throws a murder mystery party, complete with fake thugs and fake federal agents. So, when Brooks is kidnapped, it's all part of the game? right? But as the six super-competitive players set out to solve the case and win, they begin to discover that neither this "game," nor Brooks, are what they seem to be.
Over the course of one chaotic night, the friends find themselves increasingly overwhelmed as each twist leads to another unexpected twist. With no rules, no points and no idea who all the players are, this could become the most fun they've ever had... or the end of the game.

I have nothing bad to say about the actors, to be honest. If we start with the good things we have to point out that it has very interesting camera shots in some occasions and there are jokes that are funny. The stereotype of the "dumb friend" in this movie is not insufferable, it is quite funny.
De los actores no tengo nada malo que decir, la verdad. Si comenzamos con lo bueno hay que destacar que tiene planteos de cámara muy interesantes en algunas ocasiones y hay chistes que sí resultan graciosos. El estereotipo de “amigo tonto” en esta película no es insufrible, hace bastante gracia.
My issues with the film are several and, based on what I researched, it's a bit of an unpopular opinion. I don't mind that it has bland, generic comedy, nor that it's incredibly predictable in parts; there are Adam Sandler movies that are, but the narrative and the moments where they place the comedy are funny, that's not the case here.

"Game Night" spends too much time unnecessarily on long, awkward scenes. It starts with a game night where I'm all the time waiting for the good stuff to happen, and then that's not the central game night of the movie, it's another one. They use twenty minutes of film to show you the protagonist's inner conflict that they could have given us in a monologue or in the rest of the film. He spends enough time alone with his wife to do that.
“Game Night” gasta demasiado tiempo innecesariamente en escenas largas e incómodas. Empieza con una noche de juegos en la que estoy todo el tiempo esperando que ocurra lo bueno, y luego no es esa la noche de juegos central de la película, es otra. Usan veinte minutos de película para mostrarte el conflicto interno del protagonista que pudieron darnos en un monólogo o en el resto de la película. Pasa bastante tiempo solo con su esposa como para hacerlo.
The film, which lasts about a hundred minutes, does not start until the forty-fifth minute, halfway through the movie! It could have been better if the main characters weren't run on one place to the other, and on top of that, divided. When they were in a group it was smoother to watch, but by splitting them up they lost the opportunity. Rachel and Jason were okay, they had long meaningless scenes, but at least they were advancing their story as a couple in the movie. The rest are just empty characters walking around town. Sarah and Ryan's couple at least was funny with the dumb-smart dynamic, but Michelle and Kevin... They make the same joke the whole, no joke, the whole movie. The punch line was good, but I didn't enjoy it because you keep saying it the whole movie, they don't do anything important.
La película, que dura unos cien minutos, no arranca hasta el minuto cuarenta y cinco, ¡la mitad de la película! Pudo haber salido mejor si no estuvieran los protagonistas de un lado al otro y encima divididos. Cuando estaban en grupo era más fluido verlos, pero al separarlos perdieron la oportunidad. Rachel y Jason estaban bien, tenían escenas largas sin sentido, pero al menos iba avanzando su historia como pareja en la película. El resto son personajes vacíos andando por la ciudad. La pareja de Sarah y Ryan al menos era divertida con la dinámica tonto-inteligente, pero Michelle y Kevin… Hacen el mismo chiste toda, no es broma, toda la película. El remate del chiste estaba bueno, pero no lo disfruté porque lo llevas diciendo toda la película, no hacen nada importante.
The closing of the story was dynamic, had I not been so bored over the course of the movie I would have enjoyed it more, but by that point, I wanted it to end.
El cierre de la historia fue dinámico, de no haber estado tan aburrida en el transcurso de la película lo hubiese disfrutado más, pero a esas alturas, ya quería que acabara.
Honestly, I wouldn't watch it again, not even as a joke. I'm sorry, I was bored out of my mind. For the camera shots, Rachel McAdams and the jokes that made me laugh I give it a 3/10.
Sinceramente, no la volvería a ver ni de chiste. Lo siento, me aburrí muchísimo. Por los planteos de cámara, Rachel McAdams y los chistes que sí dieron risa le doy un 3/10.
